MAEd-Elementary Education• The degree program allows completion of an advanced degree for individuals who presently hold an initial K-6 Elementary teaching license.

•MAEd (Elementary Education) students participate in advanced study of both content and pedagogical issues.

•As emerging leaders in their schools and districts, students work closely with education faculty to design innovative research projects that contribute to the elementary education field.

•A nine-hour content area strand is selected from areas including advanced methods courses, gifted education, library science, digital literacy/technology integration, and/or teaching English as a second language.

•This 36-semester hour program may be completed on a part-time or full-time basis. All courses are available online.

MAEd-Reading Education•The 39-semester hour Master of Arts in Education (Reading Education) degree program may be completed on a part-time or full-time basis and all courses are available online.

• MAEd (Reading Education) students earn a K-12 reading specialist license as they explore current reading research, assessment/diagnosis of reading difficulties, management/oversight of reading/literacy programs, and develop action research projects related to an area of personal interest.

MAEd-READ continued•Nine hours of study are selected by MAEd (Reading Education) students from a variety of reading/literacy related areas including library science, gifted education, digital literacy/technology integration, and teaching English as a second language. •An initial teaching license is required to apply and some individuals may need to take prerequisite courses in reading methods in order to be accepted to the program.

MAEd-English Education •The Master of Arts Education (English Education) degree program allows completion of an advanced degree for individuals who presently hold an initial secondary English teaching license. •MAEd (English Education) students explore English content knowledge, current and emerging educational issues, and pedagogical concepts and practices that affect life within the secondary English classroom.

MAEd-ENED continued•MAEd (English Education) students develop the conceptual knowledge and research skills necessary to design and implement individual teacher action research projects, thereby informing their own practices and those of others in the field.

MAEd-History Education•The Master of Arts in Education (History Education) degree program allows completion of an advanced degree for individuals who presently hold an initial secondary or middle grades history/social studies teaching license.

•MAEd (History Education) students explore history content and pedagogical issues and considerations as soon to be leaders in their schools and districts.

•Students work closely with both history and education faculty to design innovative research projects that contribute to the history/social studies education field.

•The Master of Arts in Education (Middle Grades Education) degree program allows completion of an advanced degree for individuals who presently hold an initial middle grades teaching license.

•MAEd (Middle Grades Education) students explore middle grades curriculum development in public school settings, advanced instructional and assessment strategies, and issues/trends specific to middle grades education.

MAEd-Special Education •The Master of Arts in Education (Special Education) degree program allows completion of an advanced degree for individuals who presently hold an initial Special Education teaching license.

•MAEd (Special Education) students complete core courses related to SPED issues/trends, technology integration, assessment, behavior intervention/support, and the facilitation of systems change through collaboration and co-teaching.

MAEd-SPED continued • In addition, MAEd (Special Education) students select specialty training from the areas of mental disabilities, learning disabilities, behavioral/emotional disabilities, and low incidence disabilities.

•This 39-semester hour program is completed on a part-time basis over a period of two years.

•The Master of Arts in Teaching degree program allows completion of an advanced degree while also meeting the requirements to gain initial teaching licensure.

•It is a 39-semester hour program comprised of graduate-level courses and a two-semester unpaid internship.

•The degree is earned after completing a year-long, full-time, on campus program that begins in the summer.
