Next Meeting Wednesday, December 4, at King’s, Harmarville
Board Meeting 7:00 pm, General Meeting 7:30 pm
Greetings Pony Lovers –
Since this is my last message to you as Club President, I hope you all won’t mind if I use this occasion to reminisce a bit over my term in office.
I believe the Club has come a long way in the six years since I was given the opportunity to serve as your President. During my first year in office, the newsletter and website had both gone into seclusion, and activities were few and far be-tween. By the end of that year fewer than 40 members decided to renew.
All organizations go through ups and downs and ours is no exception. We were fortunate that a core group of people joined about the same time we did who also decided to become very active.
They are the members who deserve credit for what has been a significant turnaround for the Club. These individuals are too numerous to list here by name, but their contributions are evident in all our recent success.
Among their many accomplishments include a revitalized newsletter and website, a great lineup of monthly activities, and tours to every corner of southwestern PA. There’s been no problem find-ing members willing to volunteer to be in charge of events like our All-Ford Show, Hospitality Picnic and Holiday Party, or to run for office. The
breadth of participation has continued to spread as more and more new members join. We’re now often faced with the welcome predicament of having to plan for record numbers of members who attend our events. Our showing this past summer at the PVGP and Can-Am was nothing short of remarkable.
Mark Mulkey has agreed to run for president starting in 2014. I hope you’ll all give him the same level of support that I enjoyed while in office. If we all pull together we can make it even better. Two thousand fourteen will be a year of celebration for all Pony en-thusiasts, so let’s join together to make Mustang’s 50th anniversary in Pittsburgh one to remember.
Don’t forget that elections will be held at our next meeting on December 4th at King’s Family Restau-rant in Harmarville. King’s added 15 seats to the room last month and it was still standing-room-only. So get there early if you want a seat, or bring the one you take to car cruises if you know you’ll be late
Jennie & I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Keep those motors runnin’,
Ken

Thank You I joined the Greater Pittsburgh Mustang Club in the summer of 2010 after seeing Ken and Jennie at
the GPMC tent at the Vintage Grand Prix. I did not speak to either of them at the time because it was
around 100 degrees and my wife (girlfriend at the time) was with me and about to melt. I later found an
email address for Ken online and emailed him asking about the club. I did not have a Mustang yet, but was
hoping to get one within a year or so and wanted to learn more about them. Ken invited me to the hospital-
ity picnic a couple of weeks later, at which point I made the plunge. If it weren’t for Ken, the friendliness of
the club members at that picnic, and the enthusiasm shown about Mustangs that day, I would not be writing
this right now.
I think everyone reading this right now can agree with me that Ken has been a wonderful president
for the GPMC. His guidance has been unwavering and his knowledge and persistence have helped to create
one of the best car clubs in the United States. There have been numerous individuals which have played key
roles in turning around this car club from where it was prior to Ken becoming president. Each and every
one of those individuals deserves credit, but Ken has been the bearded face of it all. I am proof that had Ken
not been as dedicated and enthusiastic, this club would not be as involved and have the amount of members
it currently has.
Two and a half years ago, I spoke with Ken and Jennie about taking over as the Newsletter Editor. It
was a week later that I was offered a job in Charleston, WV, and would be relocating immediately. Ken con-
vinced me that taking on the newsletter would be an excellent way to stay involved and up-to-date on the
club. He was right. With Ken and Jen’s guidance, I have been able to edit this newsletter while living nearly
four hours away from Pittsburgh. Any questions I have had, they have answered. When something hasn’t
been done correctly or needs to be done differently, Ken has very politely and graciously made me aware of
it. Without Ken, this newsletter, like many features in this club, would not be as effective.
In the coming weeks, a new president will take reign of the club. As Ken has said, Mark will do a fan-
tastic job and continue to improve and guide the club. As the GPMCPREZ license plate gets passed, I think
everyone will join me in saying “Thank you” to Ken for his service and commitment to making the club eve-
rything it is today.
