Switches
Overview:– This module explains how to use switches in GP-Pro EX and
add special features and functions to them.
Objective:– At the end of this module you know:
• How to create switches• How to setup multiple functions per switch• Where to find special switches• How to use interlock to prevent an switch action
CONFIDENTIAL
Multi Function Switches
Instead of writing scripts or stacking multiple switches on top of each other the Switch object triggers up to 16 actions in sequence.Use the Add and Delete buttons to add functions to the list. Arrow keys can be used to change the orderin which the actionswill be triggered.

Interlock
The Interlock Feature can be enabled to disable all switch actions unless a certain condition is met. Can be enabled by Bit or Security level.Touch can be available when the selected bit is ON or OFF.With the “Show Interlocked Condition”(Extended mode) an Interlock state image can be added in the shape browser.
CONFIDENTIAL
Delay Feature
Use ON Delay to force the operator to hold the switch for up to 30 seconds before the switch action triggers.Use OFF Delay to wait up to 30 seconds after a touch to reset a bit.Use Extended Modeto add a Delay Stateimage (shape).
CONFIDENTIAL
Double Touch
The Double Touch feature requires the operator to confirm an action by touching a switch for a second time with a timeframe of up to 30 seconds.Use Extended Mode to add a Delay Stateimage (shape).
CONFIDENTIAL
Lamp Feature
The Lamp Feature creates a switch that changes appearance in response to the entered address in addition to triggering any Switch Action when pressed. When the Lamp is enabled multi state labels and depending on thechosen shape, multistate color settings are enabled.
CONFIDENTIAL
Color Settings
Switch Color, Pattern, Border Color and blink settings can only be used if a shape is selected from the “Standard Parts” palette. No settings are availablewhen a shape isselected from a “Img_”shape palette as theseare essentially bitmapswith complex colors.
CONFIDENTIAL
Label Settings
Use the Select State list to change the text color and attributes for each individual lamp state.Multiple state selection is only available for a switch if the Lamp feature is enabled.
CONFIDENTIAL
Bit Switch – Bit Basic
Bit switches can be used to Set, Reset, Invert (toggle) and Momentary (Set when pressed Reset when the switch is released)When Comparison is used a Word value is compared to a preset value. If the condition is met the bit will be setotherwise it will bereset.
CONFIDENTIAL
Bit Switch – Group Feature
The Group feature is available for Bit Set, Momentary and Invert actions. If multiple switches are in the same group when one switch turns on all others in the group turn off. The Auto Off settings allows the timed reset of the pressed switch.Set up to 255 groupsor 63 groups if AutoOff is used.

Word Switches - Actions
Write Data writes a constant to the selected Word address.Digit Add/Subtract adds or subtracts within sets of 4 bits (emulates a thumbwheel switch).
(Digit 1 = 0-15, Digit 4 = 4096-61440)
CONFIDENTIAL
Word Switch – Add / Subtract Data
In Add Data mode the result of the “Addition Base” address + constant is stored in the “Word Address”. In Subtract Data mode the constant is subtracted.Use the Continuous Add/Subtract feature to repeat the action aslong as the switchremains pressed.
CONFIDENTIAL
Word Switch - Operation
The Operation Action allows AND, OR and XOR comparisons between a Base Word Address and a Constant. The result is written to the selected Word Address.
CONFIDENTIAL
Screen Change Switch
Use the Screen Change switch to navigate between Base Screens.Either enter a Screen Number to jump to or select Previous Screen.Only one Screen Change can be added to the Action list.It will always be thelast action in the list.
CONFIDENTIAL
Hierarchical Screen Change
Set the Hierarchical Screen Change option to create a screen treeScreen Change buttons can now be used to navigate between screens at a certain levelAll Previous Screen buttonswill return following the treestructure to the top level
CONFIDENTIAL
Special Switches
A Special Switch contains functions typically related to controlling various types of data displays. (Alarms, Recipes, Log Data, etc)Each of those displays typically has its own switch settings with limited customization options.Only 1 Special Switchcan be used in the action list
CONFIDENTIAL
Selector Switch
The Selector Switch cycles through up to 4 bit addresses, turning on and off each address in sequence.
