The FDLP was established by Congress to ensure public access to government information

Government Printing Office gathers documents, creates records, and sends them to the participating FDLP libraries.

Jackson has been a depository since 1963, but have some earlier documents.

Some documents have been sent to regular stacks.

The collection is mostly mid-1980s up.

Finding depository documents

Majority of print documents are in Ferguson’s remote storage and are searchable in catalog.

A few are in cataloging (C, I, & L) and will eventually head to Ferguson.

Major documents are in reference (Census, Statutes at Large).

The federal documents use the SuDoc Classification System.

The NC documents use a similar system. If a call number has a colon [:], then it is

a SuDoc and not LC. Example: PR 41.8:B 52/2
