Report on Industry Alumni Meet - 2018

Preamble:

Industry plays an important role for various students’ activities like Internship, Graduation

Project, Design Collection, Exposure Visit, Placement - to name a few. We have organized

Industry-Alumni Meet - 2018 on 20th January 2018 at Maharashtra State Institute of

Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Pune. The participants will be from the

various fields including representatives of the different Industry; faculty members, alumni

and students of GCOE Jalgaon. The border topic on which the distinguished dignitaries

including Industry Speakers deliberated upon was; “Involvement of Industry/Alumni for

the develeopment of institute”.

Objective of the Industry Meet :

The objective of this Industry Meet is to deliberate on the various issue for the budding

professional of GCOEJ.

1. The industry representatives will be the better person to discuss the issues related

to the industry expectation from the students who are ready to join and serve the

industry.

2. Involment of Alumni for the improvement of education / infrastructure quality &

growth of the department & institution.

3. to strengthen the linkage between current student and Alumni.

The Event :

Industry- Alumni Meet 2018 will be

entering its third phase this year, and

with newer events with the same old

motive of bringing student and alumni

together, the event is scheduled to set off

on 20th January 2017.Industry-Alumni

Meet:2018 was inaugurated with lighting

of the lamp by the distinguished

dignitaries on the dais. Mr.Parikshit

Thite, Senior Manager, Persistent Pvt Ltd., Dr Tansen Chaudhari , Chief Operating Officer

– Fluid Controls Pvt Ltd., Pune, Mr. Niranjan Arun Upadhye and our beloved principal

Dr.R.P .Borkar. Dr.G.M. Malwatkar (Dean III and TPO) had given the welcome speech and

a detailed roles and responsibilities of training and placement and objective of meet,to

the audience including industry representatives. After that distinguished dignitaries

enlighten the participants on the broader theme of the meet in the inaugural session.

Distinguished Dignitaries:

The following dignitaries had given their speeches to inaugurate the first session of the

Industry Alumni Meet – 2018.

Chief Guest: Mr. Parikshit Thite, Senior

Manager, Persistent Pvt Ltd. was the chief

guest for the meet. He shared his experiences

of being a Senior Manager, Persistent Pvt

Ltd.He appreciated the quality of

education,resources and opportunities

provided by the Government College of

Engineering Jalgaon for overall development of

the students. He emphasized on

communication skill among the students.

Guest of honour: Dr Tansen Chaudhari ,

Chief Operating Officer – Fluid Controls

Pvt Ltd., Pune. He shared his experiences

on Need of Industrial Training for

placement: HR View

Chairperson: Dr. R.P. Borkar, Government

College of Engineering Jalgaon. He was

highlighted overall development of institute

and facilities available in the institute like lab

facilities, teaching learning, student forum,

placement activities, mentoring system,

MOU’s.Also appealed to alumni to made

involvment in the overall development of the

institute. highlighted the department activities

Special Guest: Mr. Niranjan Arun Upadhye

. He was focused on current trends in

industry and opportunities to students.

and TPO. He emphasied on detailed roles

and responsibilities of training and

Eminent Speakers of the Panel Discussion :

The speakers and Alumni participants were from the array of different areas / fields

including manufacturing sectors, Exporters, Designers etc. There were 71 alumni from

different years attended the meet. The presentation of the principal were enlightning the

institute growth and varioius activities conducted by institute.

It was followed by the panel session where the eminent Alumni from institute given

their view for upliftment in placement activities. The final year student participants got

a fair knowledge regarding the requirement of the Industry, Industry expectation

from the budding professionals, various career avenues and non-conventional avenues

for them, career growth opportunities in the various sectors etc. There was an open

session for the question answer /interactive discussion amongst the industry

representatives, student participants, principal, HoD from various department and the

eminent alumni.

Participants :

There were 71 alumni from different years attended the meet. The participants were from

the leading export houses, manufacturing sectors, and designers mainly from pune region

(Alumni), Faculty members, final year students of GCOE,Jalgaon.

There was an open session of the question-answer / interactive session amongst

all the participants after the first sessions. The student participants have been interacted

with various dignitaries, Alumni and Industry representatives. This open forum was very

much beneficial for the target student participants.

The following alumni interactions were done for the improvement of education /

infrastructure quality & growth of the department & institution.

placement.

Appreciated that Alumni meet is a good step taken to improve the relationships.

Suggested that to involve society like computer society, refrigeration society and

many more in our institute.

Suggested to arrange webinar of Alumni peoples.

Workshop must be conducted to bridge the gap between industry and academic.

Shared views to improve skill set to join a startup company

Suggested that Alumni should help to get internship for students

The principal accepted the suggestion of the alumni and given assurance to

implement the same for growth of institute and also suggested the Alumni to

Help the present students to get projects from their working place.

To lend offline help to present students.

To share Alumni experience such as their struggle as a fresher and job exposure.

To provide expert talk arrangement from outside for each academic subject.

To provide awareness and updations on present technology for each academic

subject.

OUT COME

The event was stimulating and enjoyable and simultaneously profitable as all members

shared their views ideate and good numbers of new ideas, information and insights came

up. The association is hopeful to run and successfully structure and position itself into a

fully functional global platform for GCOEJ Alumni.

The event was ended by the vote of thanks by Prof. Sadavarte Asst. Prof, Electronic &

Telecommunication, (GCOEJ).
