…the management and control of file movement both within and externally to/from an organization, including proactive decisions about routing, actionable decisions based on file content, and the ability to expose complex data flow information for managing SLA and security compliance and system capacity planning.

• In Financial Market it is very important to manage SLA to internal services and Business Partners

• A Merchant Bank has high commitment to their business users.• Pension and Investment found transactions should be re-conciliated within the next

business days after the business partner has sold Found shares through a broker• By law each Fund quotation must be available to the online banking with a

maximum delay of two working days.• All these transactions are batch files collected from

• Other banks• Insurance• Brokers

• If a transaction is not delivered on-time the BANK has to pay penalties or may loose money because of late sell or buy transaction.

• Reacting properly when a data transaction is about NOT to meet the SAL allow the bank to save SLA penalties.

Manufacturing/Logistics

Use Case 2


• Large Car Manufacturer JIT process• Car Manufactures work with the principle of JIT process, this is valid either for

external supplier but also for the Manufacturer Plant daily production Program.• The MES (Manufacturing Execution System) is designed to work in independently

mode from the central HUB, this means that the Plant can produce without being connected for at least 4h. But after this time expires the Manufacturing Plant need to be fed with other data. If this data does not arrive on time the Plant stops.

• The data feed is a very sophisticated process which consist in several processes.• See Below diagram.

Use Case 2


Alert based monitoring allow user to be notified about some condition related to flow.• Flow errors: transmission errors• Cutoff time based (with warning): SLA on a completion time• No send of file: planned file has not transferred• Cutoff on duration: SLA on duration of the transfer• Transmission completion: the flow complete correctly

If data process is not complete on time, the manufacturing plant may be shut down due to lack of data.

JIT process allows to feed the plant with the proper goods and material but what happens if data is not delivered on time? ….. Same thing as well as goods…. No more cars….

• Visibility — Who is the sender, who is the receiver and what file transfer process is being used?

• Management and Monitoring — Where is the file, and where should it be?• Measurement — What metrics are associated with the process incorporating

file transfer?• Enforcement — What policies and processes enable or constrain the file
