Now after John had been taken intocustody, Jesus came into Galilee,preaching the gospel of God,

and saying, "The time is fulfilled,and the kingdom of God is at hand;

repent and believe in the gospel."

16. E, andando junto do mar daGalilia, viu a Simo, e a Andr,

As He was going along by the Sea ofGalilee, He saw Simon and Andrew,

the brother of Simon, casting a netin the sea; for they were fishermen.

17. Disse-lhes Jesus: Vinde aps mim, eeu farei que vos torneis pescadoresde homens.

And Jesus said to them, "FollowMe, and I will make you becomefishers of men."

18. Ento eles, deixando imediatamenteas suas redes, o seguiram.

Immediately they left their nets andfollowed Him.

19. E ele, passando um pouco adiante,

Going on a little farther, He saw

James the son of Zebedee, and Johnhis brother, who were also in theboat mending the nets.

Immediately He called them; andthey left their father Zebedee in theboat with the hired servants, andwent away to follow Him.

They *went into Capernaum; andimmediately on the Sabbath Heentered the synagogue and began toteach.

They were amazed at His teaching;for He was teaching them as onehaving authority, and not as thescribes.

23. Ora, estava na sinagoga um homempossesso dum esprito imundo, oqual gritou:

Just then there was a man in theirsynagogue with an unclean spirit;and he cried out,

24. Que temos ns contigo, Jesus,nazareno? Vieste destruir-nos? Bemsei quem s: o Santo de Deus.

saying, "What business do we havewith each other, Jesus of Nazareth?Have You come to destroy us? Iknow who You are--the Holy One ofGod!"

25. Mas Jesus o repreendeu, dizendo: And Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be7

26. Ento o esprito imundo,convulsionando-o e clamando comgrande voz, saiu dele.

Throwing him into convulsions, theunclean spirit cried out with a loudvoice and came out of him.

27. E todos se maravilharam a ponto deperguntarem entre si, dizendo: Que isto? Uma nova doutrina comautoridade! Pois ele ordena aosespritos imundos, e eles lheobedecem!

They were all amazed, so that theydebated among themselves, saying,"What is this? A new teaching withauthority! He commands even theunclean spirits, and they obeyHim."

28. E logo correu a sua fama por toda aregio da Galilia.

Immediately the news about Himspread everywhere into all thesurrounding district of Galilee.

29. Em seguida, saiu da sinagoga e foi acasa de Simo e Andr com Tiago eJoo.

And immediately after they cameout of the synagogue, they came intothe house of Simon and Andrew,with James and John.

Now Simon's mother-in-law waslying sick with a fever; andimmediately they *spoke to Jesusabout her.

And He came to her and raised herup, taking her by the hand, and thefever left her, and she waited onthem.

When evening came, after the sunhad set, they began bringing to Himall who were ill and those who weredemon-possessed.

33. e toda a cidade estava reunidaporta;

And the whole city had gathered atthe door.

34. e ele curou muitos doentes atacadosde diversas molstias, e expulsoumuitos demnios; mas no permitiaque os demnios falassem, porque oconheciam.

And He healed many who were illwith various diseases, and cast outmany demons; and He was notpermitting the demons to speak,because they knew who He was.

still dark, Jesus got up, left thehouse, and went away to a secludedplace, and was praying there.

Simon and his companions searched

lhe: Todos te buscam.they found Him, and *said to Him,"Everyone is looking for You."

He *said to them, "Let us gosomewhere else to the townsnearby, so that I may preach therealso; for that is what I came for."

39. Foi, ento, por toda a Galilia,pregando nas sinagogas deles eexpulsando os demnios.

And He went into their synagoguesthroughout all Galilee, preachingand casting out the demons.

40. E veio a ele um leproso que, dejoelhos, lhe rogava, dizendo: Sequiseres, bem podes tornar-melimpo.

And a leper *came to Jesus,beseeching Him and falling on hisknees before Him, and saying, "IfYou are willing, You can make meclean."

41. Jesus, pois, compadecido dele,estendendo a mo, tocou-o e disse-lhe: Quero; s limpo.

Moved with compassion, Jesusstretched out His hand and touchedhim, and *said to him, "I amwilling; be cleansed."

42. Imediatamente desapareceu dele alepra e ficou limpo.

Immediately the leprosy left himand he was cleansed.

43. E Jesus, advertindo-o secretamente,logo o despediu,

And He sternly warned him andimmediately sent him away,

44. dizendo-lhe: Olha, no digas nada aningum; mas vai, mostra-te aosacerdote e oferece pela tua

purificao o que Moissdeterminou, para lhes servir detestemunho.

and He *said to him, "See that yousay nothing to anyone; but go, showyourself to the priest and offer for

your cleansing what Mosescommanded, as a testimony tothem."

But he went out and began toproclaim it freely and to spread thenews around, to such an extent thatJesus could no longer publicly enter

a city, but stayed out inunpopulated areas; and they werecoming to Him from everywhere.

Mark 21. Alguns dias depois entrou Jesus

outra vez em Cafarnaum, e soube-se que ele estava em casa.

When He had come back toCapernaum several days afterward,it was heard that He was at home.

2. Ajuntaram-se, pois, muitos, a ponta

de no caberem nem mesmo dianteda porta; e ele lhes anunciava apalavra.

And many were gathered together,

so that there was no longer room,not even near the door; and He wasspeaking the word to them.

3. Nisso vieram alguns a trazer-lhe umparaltico, carregado por quatro;

And they *came, bringing to Him aparalytic, carried by four men.

4. e no podendo aproximar-se dele,por causa da multido, descobriramo telhado onde estava e, fazendouma abertura, baixaram o leito em

Being unable to get to Him becauseof the crowd, they removed the roofabove Him; and when they had dugan opening, they let down the pallet

on which the paralytic was lying.5. E Jesus, vendo-lhes a f, disse aoparaltico: Filho, perdoados so osteus pecados.

And Jesus seeing their faith *said tothe paralytic, "Son, your sins areforgiven."

6. Ora, estavam ali sentados algunsdos escribas, que arrazoavam emseus coraes, dizendo:

But some of the scribes were sittingthere and reasoning in their hearts,

"Why does this man speak thatway? He is blaspheming; who can

forgive sins but God alone?"8. Mas Jesus logo percebeu em seu

Immediately Jesus, aware in Hisspirit that they were reasoning thatway within themselves, *said tothem, "Why are you reasoningabout these things in your hearts?

9. Qual mais fcil? dizer aoparaltico: Perdoados so os teuspecados; ou dizer: Levanta-te, tomao teu leito, e anda?

"Which is easier, to say to theparalytic, `Your sins are forgiven';or to say, `Get up, and pick up yourpallet and walk'?

10. Ora, para que saibais que o Filhodo homem tem sobre a terraautoridade para perdoar pecados( disse ao paraltico ),

"But so that you may know that theSon of Man has authority on earthto forgive sins"--He *said to theparalytic,

11. a ti te digo, levanta-te, toma o teuleito, e vai para tua casa.

"I say to you, get up, pick up yourpallet and go home."

12. Ento ele se levantou e, tomandologo o leito, saiu vista de todos;de modo que todos pasmavam e

glorificavam a Deus, dizendo:Nunca vimos coisa semelhante.

And he got up and immediatelypicked up the pallet and went out inthe sight of everyone, so that they

were all amazed and were glorifyingGod, saying, "We have never seenanything like this."

13. Outra vez saiu Jesus para a beirado mar; e toda a multido ia tercom ele, e ele os ensinava.

And He went out again by theseashore; and all the people werecoming to Him, and He wasteaching them.

14. Quando ia passando, viu a Levi,filho de Alfeu, sentado na coletoria,

e disse-lhe: Segue-me. E ele,levantando-se, o seguiu.

As He passed by, He saw Levi theson of Alphaeus sitting in the tax

booth, and He *said to him, "FollowMe!" And he got up and followedHim.

15. Ora, estando Jesus mesa em casade Levi, estavam tambm alireclinados com ele e seus discpulosmuitos publicanos e pecadores; poiseram em grande nmero e oseguiam.

And it *happened that He wasreclining at the table in his house,and many tax collectors and sinnerswere dining with Jesus and Hisdisciples; for there were many ofthem, and they were following Him.

16. Vendo os escribas dos fariseus quecomia com os publicanos epecadores, perguntavam aosdiscpulos: Por que que ele comocom os publicanos e pecadores?

When the scribes of the Phariseessaw that He was eating with thesinners and tax collectors, they saidto His disciples, "Why is He eatingand drinking with tax collectors andsinners?"

17. Jesus, porm, ouvindo isso, disse-lhes: No necessitam de mdico ossos, mas sim os enfermos; eu novim chamar justos, mas pecadores.

And hearing this, Jesus *said tothem, "It is not those who arehealthy who need a physician, butthose who are sick; I did not come

to call the righteous, but sinners."18. Ora, os discpulos de Joo e osfariseus estavam jejuando; e foramperguntar-lhe: Por que jejuam osdiscpulos de Joo e os dos fariseus,mas os teus discpulos no jejuam?

John's disciples and the Phariseeswere fasting; and they *came and*said to Him, "Why do John'sdisciples and the disciples of thePharisees fast, but Your disciples donot fast?"

19. Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Podem,porventura, jejuar os convidados

s npcias, enquanto est com eleso noivo? Enquanto tm consigo onoivo no podem jejuar;

And Jesus said to them, "While thebridegroom is with them, the

attendants of the bridegroomcannot fast, can they? So long asthey have the bridegroom withthem, they cannot fast.

20. dias viro, porm, em que lhes sertirado o noivo; nesses dias, sim hode jejuar.

"But the days will come when thebridegroom is taken away fromthem, and then they will fast in thatday.

21. Ningum cose remendo de pano

novo em vestido velho; do contrrioo remendo novo tira parte do velho,e torna-se maior a rotura.

"No one sews a patch of unshrunk

cloth on an old garment; otherwisethe patch pulls away from it, thenew from the old, and a worse tearresults.

22. E ningum deita vinho novo emodres velhos; do contrrio, o vinhonovo romper os odres, e perder-se- o vinho e tambm os odres; masdeita-se vinho novo em odres novos.

"No one puts new wine into oldwineskins; otherwise the wine willburst the skins, and the wine is lostand the skins as well; but one putsnew wine into fresh wineskins."

23. E sucedeu passar ele num dia desbado pelas searas; e os seusdiscpulos, caminhando, comearama colher espigas.

And it happened that He waspassing through the grainfields onthe Sabbath, and His disciplesbegan to make their way alongwhile picking the heads of grain.

24. E os fariseus lhe perguntaram: The Pharisees were saying to Him,

"Look, why are they doing what isnot lawful on the Sabbath?"

25. Respondeu-lhes ele: Acaso nuncalestes o que fez Davi quando se viu

And He *said to them, "Have younever read what David did when he

was in need and he and hiscompanions became hungry;

how he entered the house of God inthe time of Abiathar the high priest,and ate the consecrated bread,which is not lawful for anyone to eatexcept the priests, and he also gaveit to those who were with him?"

27. E prosseguiu: O sbado foi feito por

causa do homem, e no o homempor causa do sbado.

Jesus said to them, "The Sabbath

was made for man, and not man forthe Sabbath.

28. Pelo que o Filho do homem at dosbado Senhor.

"So the Son of Man is Lord even ofthe Sabbath."

Mark 31. Outra vez entrou numa sinagoga, e

estava ali um homem que tinha umadas mos atrofiada.

He entered again into a synagogue;and a man was there whose handwas withered.

2. E observavam-no para ver se nosbado curaria o homem, a fim de oacusarem.

They were watching Him to see ifHe would heal him on the Sabbath,so that they might accuse Him.

3. E disse Jesus ao homem que tinha amo atrofiada: Levanta-te e vempara o meio.

He *said to the man with thewithered hand, "Get up and comeforward!"

4. Ento lhes perguntou: lcito nosbado fazer bem, ou fazer mal?salvar a vida ou matar? Eles,

And He *said to them, "Is it lawfulto do good or to do harm on theSabbath, to save a life or to kill?"

But they kept silent.5. E olhando em redor para eles com

After looking around at them withanger, grieved at their hardness ofheart, He *said to the man, "Stretchout your hand." And he stretched itout, and his hand was restored.

Jesus withdrew to the sea with Hisdisciples; and a great multitudefrom Galilee followed; and alsofrom Judea,

and from Jerusalem, and fromIdumea, and beyond the Jordan,and the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon,a great number of people heard of

all that He was doing and came toHim.

9. Recomendou, pois, a seus discpulosque se lhe preparasse umbarquinho, por causa da multido,para que no o apertasse;

And He told His disciples that aboat should stand ready for Himbecause of the crowd, so that theywould not crowd Him;

10. porque tinha curado a muitos, demodo que todos quantos tinhamalgum mal arrojavam-se a ele para

for He had healed many, with theresult that all those who hadafflictions pressed around Him in

order to touch Him.11. E os espritos imundos, quando o

viam, prostravam-se diante dele eclamavam, dizendo: Tu s o Filhode Deus.

Whenever the unclean spirits sawHim, they would fall down beforeHim and shout, "You are the Son ofGod!"

12. E ele lhes advertia com insistnciaque no o dessem a conhecer.

And He earnestly warned them notto tell who He was.

13. Depois subiu ao monte, e chamou asi os que ele mesmo queria; e

vieram a ele.

And He *went up on the mountainand *summoned those whom He

Himself wanted, and they came toHim.

14. Ento designou doze para queestivessem com ele, e os mandasse apregar;

And He appointed twelve, so thatthey would be with Him and thatHe couldsend them out to preach,

and Judas Iscariot, who betrayedHim.

20. Depois entrou numa casa. E afluiuoutra vez a multido, de tal modoque nem podiam comer.

And He *came home, and the crowd*gathered again, to such an extentthat they could not even eat a meal.

21. Quando os seus ouviram isso,saram para o prender; porquediziam: Ele est fora de si.

When His own people heard ofthis,they went out to take custody ofHim; for they were saying, "He haslost His senses."

22. E os escribas que tinham descido deJerusalm diziam: Ele est possessode Belzebu; e: pelo prncipe dosdemnios que expulsa os demnios.

The scribes who came down fromJerusalem were saying, "He ispossessed by Beelzebul," and "Hecasts out the demons by the ruler ofthe demons."

23. Ento Jesus os chamou e lhes dissepor parbolas: Como pode Satansexpulsar Satans?

And He called them to Himself andbegan speaking to them in parables,"How can Satan cast out Satan?

24. Pois, se um reino se dividir contra simesmo, tal reino no pode subsistir; "If a kingdom is divided againstitself, that kingdom cannot stand.

25. ou, se uma casa se dividir contra simesma, tal casa no podersubsistir;

"If a house is divided against itself,that house will not be able to stand.

26. e se Satans se tem levantado "If Satan has risen up against

27. Pois ningum pode entrar na casa

"But no one can enter the strong

man's house and plunder hisproperty unless he first binds thestrong man, and then he willplunder his house.

28. Em verdade vos digo: Todos ospecados sero perdoados aos filhosdos homens, bem como todas asblasfmias que proferirem;

"Truly I say to you, all sins shall beforgiven the sons of men, andwhatever blasphemies they utter;

29. mas aquele que blasfemar contra o

Esprito Santo, nunca mais terperdo, mas ser ru de pecadoeterno.

but whoever blasphemes against the

Holy Spirit never has forgiveness,but is guilty of an eternal sin"--

30. Porquanto eles diziam: Estpossesso de um esprito imundo.

because they were saying, "He hasan unclean spirit."

31. Chegaram ento sua me e seusirmos e, ficando da parte de fora,mandaram cham-lo.

Then His mother and His brothers*arrived, and standing outside theysent wordto Him and called Him.

32. E a multido estava sentada aoredor dele, e disseram-lhe: Eis quetua me e teus irmos esto l fora ete procuram.

A crowd was sitting around Him,and they *said to Him, "Behold,Your mother and Your brothers areoutside looking for You."

33. Respondeu-lhes Jesus, dizendo:Quem minha me e meus irmos!

Answering them, He *said, "Whoare My mother and My brothers?"

34. E olhando em redor para os queestavam sentados roda de si,disse: Eis aqui minha me e meusirmos!

Looking about at those who weresitting around Him, He *said,"Behold My mother and Mybrothers!

35. Pois aquele que fizer a vontade deDeus, esse meu irmo, irm e me.

"For whoever does the will of God,he is My brother and sister andmother."

Mark 41. Outra vez comeou a ensinar

He began to teach again by the sea.And such a very large crowdgathered to Him that He got into aboat in the sea and sat down; andthe whole crowd was by the sea onthe land.

And He was teaching them many

things in parables, and was sayingto them in His teaching,

3. Ouvi: Eis que o semeador saiu asemear;

"Listen to this! Behold, the sowerwent out to sow;

4. e aconteceu que, quando semeava,uma parte da semente caiu beirado caminho, e vieram as aves e acomeram.

as he was sowing, someseedfellbeside the road, and the birds cameand ate it up.

5. Outra caiu no solo pedregoso, onde

no havia muita terra: e logonasceu, porque no tinha terraprofunda;

"Otherseedfell on the rocky

groundwhere it did not have muchsoil; and immediately it sprang upbecause it had no depth of soil.

"And after the sun had risen, it wasscorched; and because it had noroot, it withered away.

"Otherseedfell among the thorns,and the thorns came up and chokedit, and it yielded no crop.

"Otherseeds fell into the good soil,and as they grew up and increased,they yielded a crop and producedthirty, sixty, and a hundredfold."

9. E disse-lhes: Quem tem ouvidospara ouvir, oua.

And He was saying, "He who hasears to hear, let him hear."

As soon as He was alone, Hisfollowers, along with the twelve,began asking Him abouttheparables.

And He was saying to them, "Toyou has been given the mystery ofthe kingdom of God, but those whoare outside get everything inparables,

so that WHILE SEEING, THEYMAY SEE AND NOT PERCEIVE,AND WHILE HEARING, THEYMAY HEAR AND NOT

13. Disse-lhes ainda: No percebeis estaparbola? como pois entendereistodas as parbolas?

And He *said to them, "Do you notunderstand this parable? How willyou understand all the parables?

14. O semeador semeia a palavra. "The sower sows the word.

15. E os que esto junto do caminho soaqueles em quem a palavra

semeada; mas, tendo-a eles ouvido,vem logo Satans e tira a palavraque neles foi semeada.

"These are the ones who are besidethe road where the word is sown;

and when they hear, immediatelySatan comes and takes away theword which has been sown in them.

16. Do mesmo modo, aqueles que foramsemeados nos lugares pedregososso os que, ouvindo a palavra,imediatamente com alegria arecebem;

"In a similar way these are the oneson whom seed was sown on therockyplaces, who, when they hearthe word, immediately receive itwith joy;

17. mas no tm raiz em si mesmos,

antes so de pouca durao; depois,sobrevindo tribulao ouperseguio por causa da palavra,logo se escandalizam.

and they have nofirm root in

themselves, but are only temporary;then, when affliction or persecutionarises because of the word,immediately they fall away.

18. Outros ainda so aqueles que foramsemeados entre os espinhos; estes

"And others are the ones on whomseed was sown among the thorns;

but the worries of the world, andthe deceitfulness of riches, and the

desires for other things enter in andchoke the word, and it becomesunfruitful.

20. Aqueles outros que foram semeadosem boa terra so os que ouvem apalavra e a recebem, e do fruto, atrinta, a sessenta, e a cem, por um.

"And those are the ones on whomseed was sown on the good soil; andthey hear the word and accept itand bear fruit, thirty, sixty, and ahundredfold."

21. Disse-lhes mais: Vem porventura a

candeia para se meter debaixo doalqueire, ou debaixo da cama? no antes para se colocar no velador?

And He was saying to them, "A

lamp is not brought to be put undera basket, is it, or under a bed? Is itnot broughtto be put on thelampstand?

"For nothing is hidden, except to berevealed; nor has anythingbeensecret, but that it would come tolight.

And He was saying to them, "Takecare what you listen to. By yourstandard of measure it will bemeasured to you; and more will begiven you besides.

"For whoever has, to him moreshall be given; and whoever doesnot have, even what he has shall be

And He was saying, "The kingdomof God is like a man who casts seedupon the soil;

and he goes to bed at night and getsup by day, and the seed sprouts and

"The soil produces crops by itself;first the blade, then the head, then

"But when the crop permits, heimmediately puts in the sickle,because the harvest has come."

30. Disse ainda: A que assemelharemoso reino de Deus? ou com queparbola o representaremos?

And He said, "How shall we picturethe kingdom of God, or by whatparable shall we present it?

31. como um gro de mostarda que,quando se semeia, a menor de

todas as sementes que h na terra;

"It is like a mustard seed, which,when sown upon the soil, though it

is smaller than all the seeds that areupon the soil,

32. mas, tendo sido semeado, cresce efaz-se a maior de todas as hortaliase cria grandes ramos, de tal modoque as aves do cu podem aninhar-se sua sombra.

yet when it is sown, it grows up andbecomes larger than all the gardenplants and forms large branches; sothat THE BIRDS OF THE AIR canNEST UNDER ITS SHADE."

33. E com muitas parbolas tais lhesdirigia a palavra, conforme podiamcompreender.

With many such parables He wasspeaking the word to them, so far asthey were able to hear it;

34. E sem parbola no lhes falava;mas em particular explicava tudo aseus discpulos.

and He did not speak to themwithout a parable; but He wasexplaining everything privately toHis own disciples.

35. Naquele dia, quando j era tarde,disse-lhes: Passemos para o outrolado.

On that day, when evening came,He *said to them, "Let us go over tothe other side."

36. E eles, deixando a multido, olevaram consigo, assim comoestava, no barco; e havia com eletambm outros barcos.

Leaving the crowd, they *took Himalong with them in the boat, just asHe was; and other boats were withHim.

37. E se levantou grande tempestade devento, e as ondas batiam dentro dobarco, de modo que j se enchia.

And there *arose a fierce gale ofwind, and the waves were breakingover the boat so much that the boat

Jesus Himself was in the stern,asleep on the cushion; and they*woke Him and *said to Him,

"Teacher, do You not care that weare perishing?"

And He got up and rebuked thewind and said to the sea, "Hush, bestill." And the wind died down andit became perfectly calm.

And He said to them, "Why are youafraid? How is it that you have nofaith?"

They became very much afraid andsaid to one another, "Who then isthis, that even the wind and the seaobey Him?"

Mark 51. Chegaram ento ao outro lado do

mar, terra dos gerasenos.They came to the other side of thesea, into the country of theGerasenes.

2. E, logo que Jesus sara do barco, lheveio ao encontro, dos sepulcros, umhomem com esprito imundo,

When He got out of the boat,immediately a man from the tombswith an unclean spirit met Him,

3. o qual tinha a sua morada nossepulcros; e nem ainda com cadeiaspodia algum prend-lo;

and he had his dwelling among thetombs. And no one was able to bindhim anymore, even with a chain;

4. porque, tendo sido muitas vezespreso com grilhes e cadeias, ascadeias foram por ele feitas em

because he had often been boundwith shackles and chains, and thechains had been torn apart by him

and the shackles broken in pieces,and no one was strong enough tosubdue him.

Constantly, night and day, he wasscreaming among the tombs and inthe mountains, and gashing himself

and shouting with a loud voice, he

*said, "What business do we havewith each other, Jesus, Son of theMost High God? I implore You byGod, do not torment me!"

8. Pois Jesus lhe dizia: Sai dessehomem, esprito imundo.

For He had been saying to him,"Come out of the man, you uncleanspirit!"

9. E perguntou-lhe: Qual o teunome? Respondeu-lhe ele: Legio

o meu nome, porque somos muitos.

And He was asking him, "What isyour name?" And he *said to Him,

"My name is Legion; for we aremany."

10. E rogava-lhe muito que no osenviasse para fora da regio.

And he began to implore Himearnestly not to send them out ofthe country.

11. Ora, andava ali pastando no monteuma grande manada de porcos.

Now there was a large herd of swinefeeding nearby on the mountain.

12. Rogaram-lhe, pois, os demnios,

The demons implored Him, saying,

"Send us into the swine so that wemay enter them."

Jesus gave them permission. Andcoming out, the unclean spiritsentered the swine; and the herdrushed down the steep bank into thesea, about two thousand of them;and they were drowned in the sea.

Their herdsmen ran away and

reported it in the city and in thecountry. And the people came to seewhat it was that had happened.

Those who had seen it described to

them how it had happened to thedemon-possessed man, and allabout the swine.

17. Ento comearam a rogar-lhe quese retirasse dos seus termos.

And they began to implore Him toleave their region.

18. E, entrando ele no barco, rogava-lhe o que fora endemoninhado queo deixasse estar com ele.

As He was getting into the boat, theman who had been demon-possessed was imploring Him thathe might accompany Him.

19. Jesus, porm, no lho permitiu, masdisse-lhe: Vai para tua casa, para osteus, e anuncia-lhes o quanto oSenhor te fez, e como tevemisericrdia de ti.

And He did not let him, but He*said to him, "Go home to yourpeople and report to them whatgreat things the Lord has done foryou, and howHe had mercy onyou."

20. Ele se retirou, pois, e comeou apublicar em Decpolis tudo quantolhe fizera Jesus; e todos se

admiravam.

And he went away and began toproclaim in Decapolis what greatthings Jesus had done for him; and

everyone was amazed.21. Tendo Jesus passado de novo no

barco para o outro lado, ajuntou-sea ele uma grande multido; e eleestava beira do mar.

When Jesus had crossed over againin the boat to the other side, a largecrowd gathered around Him; andso He stayed by the seashore.

One of the synagogue officialsnamed Jairus *came up, and onseeing Him, *fell at His feet

and *implored Him earnestly,saying, "My little daughter is at thepoint of death;please come and layYour hands on her, so that she willget well and live."

And He went off with him; and alarge crowd was following Him and

25. Ora, certa mulher, que havia dozeanos padecia de uma hemorragia,

A woman who had had ahemorrhage for twelve years,

26. e que tinha sofrido bastantes

and had endured much at the hands

of many physicians, and had spentall that she had and was not helpedat all, but rather had grown worse--

after hearing about Jesus, she cameup in the crowd behindHim andtouched His cloak.

28. porque dizia: Se to-somente tocar-lhe as vestes, ficaria curada.

For she thought, "If I just touch Hisgarments, I will get well."

29. E imediatamente cessou a suahemorragia; e sentiu no corpo estar

j curada do seu mal.

Immediately the flow of her bloodwas dried up; and she felt in herbody that she was healed of heraffliction.

30. E logo Jesus, percebendo em simesmo que sara dele poder, virou-se no meio da multido eperguntou: Quem me tocou asvestes?

Immediately Jesus, perceiving inHimself that the powerproceedingfrom Him had gone forth, turnedaround in the crowd and said,"Who touched My garments?"

31. Responderam-lhe os seusdiscpulos: Vs que a multido teaperta, e perguntas: Quem metocou?

And His disciples said to Him, "Yousee the crowd pressing in on You,and You say, `Who touched Me?' "

32. Mas ele olhava em redor para ver aque isto fizera.

And He looked around to see thewoman who had done this.

33. Ento a mulher, atemorizada etrmula, cnscia do que nela se

havia operado, veio e prostrou-sediante dele, e declarou-lhe toda averdade.

But the woman fearing andtrembling, aware of what had

happened to her, came and felldown before Him and told Him thewhole truth.

34. Disse-lhe ele: Filha, a tua f tesalvou; vai-te em paz, e fica livredesse teu mal.

And He said to her, "Daughter,your faith has made you well; go inpeace and be healed of youraffliction."

While He was still speaking, they*came from the house ofthesynagogue official, saying, "Yourdaughter has died; why trouble the

But Jesus, overhearing what wasbeing spoken, *said to thesynagogue official, "Do not beafraid anylonger, only believe."

And He allowed no one toaccompany Him, except Peter andJames and John the brother ofJames.

38. Quando chegaram a casa do chefeda sinagoga, viu Jesus um alvoroo,e os que choravam e faziam grandepranto.

They *came to the house of thesynagogue official; and He *saw acommotion, andpeople loudlyweeping and wailing.

39. E, entrando, disse-lhes: Por quefazeis alvoroo e chorais? a meninano morreu, mas dorme.

And entering in, He *said to them,"Why make a commotion andweep? The child has not died, but isasleep."

40. E riam-se dele; porm ele, tendo

feito sair a todos, tomou consigo opai e a me da menina, e os que comele vieram, e entrou onde a meninaestava.

They began laughing at Him. But

putting them all out, He *took alongthe child's father and mother andHis own companions, and *enteredthe room where the child was.

41. E, tomando a mo da menina, disse-lhe: Talita cumi, que, traduzido, :Menina, a ti te digo, levanta-te.

Taking the child by the hand, He*said to her, "Talitha kum!" (whichtranslated means, "Little girl, I sayto you, get up!").

42. Imediatamente a menina se

levantou, e ps-se a andar, poistinha doze anos. E logo foramtomados de grande espanto.

Immediately the girl got up andbegan to walk, for she was twelveyears old. And immediately theywere completely astounded.

43. Ento ordenou-lhes expressamenteque ningum o soubesse; e mandouque lhe dessem de comer.

And He gave them strict orders thatno one should know about this, andHe said thatsomethingshould be

When the Sabbath came, He beganto teach in the synagogue; and themany listeners were astonished,saying, "Where did this mangetthese things, and what is thiswisdom given to Him, and suchmiracles as these performed by Hishands?

3. No este o carpinteiro, filho deMaria, irmo de Tiago, de Jos, deJudas e de Simo? e no esto aquientre ns suas irms? Eescandalizavam-se dele.

"Is not this the carpenter, the son ofMary, and brother of James andJoses and Judas and Simon? Arenot His sisters here with us?" Andthey took offense at Him.

4. Ento Jesus lhes dizia: Um profetano fica sem honra seno na suaterra, entre os seus parentes, e nasua prpria casa.

Jesus said to them, "A prophet isnot without honor except in hishometown and among his ownrelatives and in his own household."

5. E no podia fazer ali nenhummilagre, a no ser curar algunspoucos enfermos, impondo-lhes asmos.

And He could do no miracle thereexcept that He laid His hands on afew sick people and healed them.

And He wondered at their unbelief.And He was going around thevillages teaching.

"Any place that does not receiveyou or listen to you, as you go outfrom there, shake the dust off thesoles of your feet for a testimonyagainst them."

They went out and preached thatmen should repent.

And they were casting out manydemons and were anointing with oilmany sick people and healing them.

14. E soube disso o rei Herodes (porqueo nome de Jesus se tornara clebre),e disse: Joo, o Batista, ressuscitoudos mortos; e por isso estes poderesmilagrosos operam nele.

And King Herod heard of it, for Hisname had become well known; and

people were saying, "John theBaptist has risen from the dead, andthat is why these miraculous powersare at work in Him."

15. Mas outros diziam: Elias. E aindaoutros diziam: profeta como umdos profetas.

But others were saying, "He isElijah." And others were saying,"He is a prophet, like one of theprophets of old."

16. Herodes, porm, ouvindo isso, dizia: Joo, aquele a quem eu mandeidegolar: ele ressuscitou.

But when Herod heard of it, he keptsaying, "John, whom I beheaded,has risen!"

17. Porquanto o prprio Herodesmandara prender a Joo, e encerr-lo maniatado no crcere, por causade Herodias, mulher de seu irmoFilipe; porque ele se havia casadocom ela.

For Herod himself had sent and hadJohn arrested and bound in prisonon account of Herodias, the wife ofhis brother Philip, because he hadmarried her.

For John had been saying to Herod,"It is not lawful for you to haveyour brother's wife."

Herodias had a grudge against him

and wanted to put him to death andcould not do so;

for Herod was afraid of John,knowing that he was a righteousand holy man, and he kept him safe.And when he heard him, he wasvery perplexed; but he used toenjoy listening to him.

21. Chegado, porm, um dia oportuno

quando Herodes no seu aniversrionatalcio ofereceu um banquete aosgrandes da sua corte, aos principaisda Galilia,

A strategic day came when Herod

on his birthday gave a banquet forhis lords and military commandersand the leading men of Galilee;

22. entrou a filha da mesma Herodias e,danando, agradou a Herodes e aosconvivas. Ento o rei disse

jovem: Pede-me o que quiseres, e euto darei.

and when the daughter of Herodiasherself came in and danced, shepleased Herod and his dinnerguests; and the king said to the girl,"Ask me for whatever you want

and I will give it to you."23. E jurou-lhe, dizendo: Tudo o que

me pedires te darei, ainda que sejametade do meu reino.

And he swore to her, "Whateveryou ask of me, I will give it to you;up to half of my kingdom."

24. Tendo ela sado, perguntou a suame: Que pedirei? Ela respondeu:A cabea de Joo, o Batista.

And she went out and said to hermother, "What shall I ask for?"And she said, "The head of Johnthe Baptist."

25. E tornando logo com pressa

Immediately she came in a hurry to

the king and asked, saying, "I wantyou to give me at once the head ofJohn the Baptist on a platter."

And although the king was verysorry,yetbecause of his oaths and

When his disciples heard about this,they came and took away his body

and laid it in a tomb.30. Reuniram-se os apstolos com Jesus

The apostles *gathered togetherwith Jesus; and they reported toHim all that they had done andtaught.

31. Ao que ele lhes disse: Vinde vs,parte, para um lugar deserto, edescansai um pouco. Porque erammuitos os que vinham e iam, e no

tinham tempo nem para comer.

And He *said to them, "Come awayby yourselves to a secluded placeand rest a while." (For there weremanypeople coming and going, and

they did not even have time to eat.)32. Retiraram-se, pois, no barco para

um lugar deserto, parte.They went away in the boat to asecluded place by themselves.

The people saw them going, andmany recognized them and ranthere together on foot from all thecities, and got there ahead of them.

34. E Jesus, ao desembarcar, viu umagrande multido e compadeceu-sedeles, porque eram como ovelhasque no tm pastor; e comeou aensinar-lhes muitas coisas.

When Jesus went ashore, He saw alarge crowd, and He feltcompassion for them because theywere like sheep without a shepherd;and He began to teach them manythings.

When it was already quite late, Hisdisciples came to Him and said,

send them away so that they may go

But He answered them, "You givethemsomethingto eat!" And they*said to Him, "Shall we go andspend two hundred denarii onbread and give themsomethingtoeat?"

And He *said to them, "How manyloaves do you have? Go look!" Andwhen they found out, they *said,"Five, and two fish."

And He commanded them all to sitdown by groups on the green grass.

40. E reclinaram-se em grupos de cem ede cinquenta.

They sat down in groups ofhundreds and of fifties.

41. E tomando os cinco pes e os doispeixes, e erguendo os olhos ao cu,os abenoou; partiu os pes e osentregava a seus discpulos paralhos servirem; tambm repartiu osdois peixes por todos.

And He took the five loaves and thetwo fish, and looking up towardheaven, He blessed the foodandbroke the loaves and He kept givingthem to the disciples to set beforethem; and He divided up the twofish among them all.

42. E todos comeram e se fartaram. They all ate and were satisfied,

and they picked up twelve fullbaskets of the broken pieces, andalso of the fish.

There were five thousand men whoate the loaves.

Seeing them straining at the oars,for the wind was against them, atabout the fourth watch of the nightHe *came to them, walking on thesea; and He intended to pass by

But when they saw Him walking onthe sea, they supposed that it was aghost, and cried out;

for they all saw Him and wereterrified. But immediately He spokewith them and *said to them, "Takecourage; it is I, do not be afraid."

51. E subiu para junto deles no barco, eo vento cessou; e ficaram, no seuntimo, grandemente pasmados;

Then He got into the boat withthem, and the wind stopped; andthey were utterly astonished,

52. pois no tinham compreendido omilagre dos pes, antes o seucorao estava endurecido.

for they had not gained any insightfrom the incident ofthe loaves, buttheir heart was hardened.

53. E, terminada a travessia, chegaram terra em Genezar, e aliatracaram.

When they had crossed over theycame to land at Gennesaret, andmoored to the shore.

54. Logo que desembarcaram, o povoreconheceu a Jesus; When they got out of the boat,immediately the people recognizedHim,

and ran about that whole countryand began to carry here and thereon their pallets those who were sick,to the place they heard He was.

Mark 71. Foram ter com Jesus os fariseus, e

alguns dos escribas vindos deJerusalm,

The Pharisees and some of thescribes gathered around Him whenthey had come from Jerusalem,

and had seen that some of Hisdisciples were eating their breadwith impure hands, that is,unwashed.

3. Pois os fariseus, e todos os judeus,guardando a tradio dos ancios,no comem sem lavar as moscuidadosamente;

(For the Pharisees and all the Jewsdo not eat unless they carefullywash their hands, thus observingthe traditions of the elders;

4. e quando voltam do mercado, seno se purificarem, no comem. Emuitas outras coisas h quereceberam para observar, como alavagem de copos, de jarros e devasos de bronze.

and when they come from themarket place, they do not eat unlessthey cleanse themselves; and thereare many other things which theyhave received in order to observe,such as the washing of cups andpitchers and copper pots.)

And He said to them, "Rightly didIsaiah prophesy of you hypocrites,

He was also saying to them, "Youare experts at setting aside thecommandment of God in order tokeep your tradition.

10. Pois Moiss disse: Honra a teu pai ea tua me; e: Quem maldisser ao

"For Moses said, `HONOR YOURFATHER AND YOUR MOTHER';

and, `HE WHO SPEAKS EVIL OFFATHER OR MOTHER, IS TO BEPUT TO DEATH';

thus invalidating the word of Godby your tradition which you havehanded down; and you do manythings such as that."

After He called the crowd to Himagain, He began saying to them,"Listen to Me, all of you, andunderstand:

there is nothing outside the manwhich can defile him if it goes intohim; but the things which proceedout of the man are what defile theman.

When he had left the crowd andentered the house, His disciples

And He *said to them, "Are you solacking in understanding also? Doyou not understand that whatevergoes into the man from outsidecannot defile him,

because it does not go into his heart,but into his stomach, and iseliminated?" (Thus He declared all

21. Pois do interior, do corao doshomens, que procedem os mauspensamentos, as prostituies, osfurtos, os homicdios, os adultrios,

"For from within, out of the heartof men, proceed the evil thoughts,fornications, thefts, murders,adulteries,

22. a cobia, as maldades, o dolo, alibertinagem, a inveja, a blasfmia,a soberba, a insensatez;

deeds of coveting andwickedness,as wellas deceit, sensuality, envy,slander, pride andfoolishness.

"All these evil things proceed fromwithin and defile the man."

Jesus got up and went away fromthere to the region of Tyre. And

when He had entered a house, Hewanted no one to know of it; yet Hecould not escape notice.

But after hearing of Him, a woman

whose little daughter had anunclean spirit immediately cameand fell at His feet.

Now the woman was a Gentile, ofthe Syrophoenician race. And shekept asking Him to cast the demonout of her daughter.

27. Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Deixa queprimeiro se fartem os filhos; porque

no bom tomar o po dos filhos elana-lo aos cachorrinhos.

And He was saying to her, "Let thechildren be satisfied first, for it is

not good to take the children'sbread and throw it to the dogs."

28. Ela, porm, replicou, e disse-lhe:Sim, Senhor; mas tambm oscachorrinhos debaixo da mesacomem das migalhas dos filhos.

But she answered and *said to Him,"Yes, Lord, buteven the dogs underthe table feed on the children'scrumbs."

29. Ento ele lhe disse: Por essapalavra, vai; o demnio j saiu detua filha.

And He said to her, "Because of thisanswer go; the demon has gone outof your daughter."

30. E, voltando ela para casa, achou amenina deitada sobre a cama, e queo demnio j havia sado.

And going back to her home, shefound the child lying on the bed, thedemon having left.

31. Tendo Jesus partido das regies deTiro, foi por Sidom at o mar daGalilia, passando pelas regies deDecpolis.

Again He went out from the regionof Tyre, and came through Sidon tothe Sea of Galilee, within the regionof Decapolis.

32. E trouxeram-lhe um surdo, quefalava dificilmente; e rogaram-lheque pusesse a mo sobre ele.

They *brought to Him one who wasdeaf and spoke with difficulty, andthey *implored Him to lay His handon him.

33. Jesus, pois, tirou-o de entre amultido, parte, meteu-lhe osdedos nos ouvidos e, cuspindo,tocou-lhe na lngua;

Jesus took him aside from thecrowd, by himself, and put Hisfingers into his ears, and afterspitting, He touched his tongue with

and looking up to heaven with adeep sigh, He *said to him,"Ephphatha!" that is, "Be opened!"

35. E abriram-se-lhe os ouvidos, apriso da lngua se desfez, e falavaperfeitamente.

And his ears were opened, and theimpediment of his tongue wasremoved, and he began speakingplainly.

36. Ento lhes ordenou Jesus que aningum o dissessem; mas, quandomais lho proibia, tanto mais odivulgavam.

And He gave them orders not to tellanyone; but the more He orderedthem, the more widely theycontinued to proclaim it.

37. E se maravilhavam sobremaneira,

dizendo: Tudo tem feito bem; fazat os surdos ouvir e os mudosfalar.

They were utterly astonished,

saying, "He has done all things well;He makes even the deaf to hear andthe mute to speak."

Mark 81. Naqueles dias, havendo de novo

uma grande multido, e no tendo oque comer, chamou Jesus osdiscpulos e disse-lhes:

In those days, when there was againa large crowd and they had nothingto eat, Jesus called His disciples and*said to them,

"I feel compassion for the peoplebecause they have remained withMe now three days and havenothing to eat.

"If I send them away hungry totheir homes, they will faint on theway; and some of them have comefrom a great distance."

And His disciples answered Him,

"Where will anyone be able to findenough bread here in this desolateplace to satisfy these people?"

5. Perguntou-lhes Jesus: Quantos pestendes? Responderam: Sete.

And He was asking them, "Howmany loaves do you have?" Andthey said, "Seven."

And He *directed the people to sitdown on the ground; and taking theseven loaves, He gave thanks andbroke them, and started giving

them to His disciples to serve tothem, and they served them to thepeople.

7. Tinham tambm alguns peixinhos,os quais ele abenoou, e mandouque estes tambm fossemdistribudos.

They also had a few small fish; andafter He had blessed them, Heordered these to be served as well.

8. Comeram, pois, e se fartaram; e dospedaos que sobejavam levantaram

sete alcofas.

And they ate and were satisfied;and they picked up seven large

baskets full of what was left over ofthe broken pieces.

9. Ora, eram cerca de quatro milhomens. E Jesus os despediu.

About four thousand were there;and He sent them away.

10. E, entrando logo no barco com seusdiscpulos, foi para as regies deDalmanuta.

And immediately He entered theboat with His disciples and came tothe district of Dalmanutha.

The Pharisees came out and beganto argue with Him, seeking from

Him a sign from heaven, to testHim.

Sighing deeply in His spirit, He*said, "Why does this generationseek for a sign? Truly I say to you,no sign will be given to thisgeneration."

13. E, deixando-os, tornou a embarcare foi para o outro lado.

Leaving them, He again embarkedand went away to the other side.

14. Ora, eles se esqueceram de levarpo, e no barco no tinham consigoseno um po.

And they had forgotten to takebread, and did not have more thanone loaf in the boat with them.

And He was giving orders to them,saying, "Watch out! Beware of theleaven of the Pharisees and the

"HAVING EYES, DO YOU NOTSEE ? AND HAVING EARS, DOYOU NOT HEAR ? And do you notremember,

19. Quando parti os cinco pes para oscinco mil, quantos cestos cheios depedaos levantastes? Responderam-lhe: Doze.

when I broke the five loaves for thefive thousand, how many basketsfull of broken pieces you pickedup?" They *said to Him, "Twelve."

20. E quando parti os sete para osquatro mil, quantas alcofas cheiasde pedaos levantastes?Responderam-lhe: Sete.

"WhenI broke the seven for thefour thousand, how many largebaskets full of broken pieces didyou pick up?" And they *said toHim, "Seven."

21. E ele lhes disse: No entendeisainda?

And He was saying to them, "Doyou not yet understand?"

22. Ento chegaram a Betsada. Etrouxeram-lhe um cego, e rogaram-lhe que o tocasse.

And they *came to Bethsaida. Andthey *brought a blind man to Jesusand *implored Him to touch him.

23. Jesus, pois, tomou o cego pela mo,e o levou para fora da aldeia; ecuspindo-lhe nos olhos, e impondo-lhe as mos, perguntou-lhe: Vsalguma coisa?

Taking the blind man by the hand,He brought him out of the village;and after spitting on his eyes andlaying His hands on him, He askedhim, "Do you see anything?"

24. E, levantando ele os olhos, disse:Estou vendo os homens; porquecomo rvores os vejo andando.

And he looked up and said, "I seemen, for I see them like trees,walking around."

25. Ento tornou a pr-lhe as mossobre os olhos; e ele, olhando

Then again He laid His hands on hiseyes; and he looked intently and

And He sent him to his home,

Jesus went out, along with Hisdisciples, to the villages of CaesareaPhilippi; and on the way Hequestioned His disciples, saying tothem, "Who do people say that Iam?"

28. Responderam-lhe eles: Uns dizem:

Joo, o Batista; outros: Elias; eainda outros: Algum dos profetas.

They told Him, saying, "John the

Baptist; and otherssay Elijah; butothers, one of the prophets."

29. Ento lhes perguntou: Mas vs,quem dizeis que eu sou?Respondendo, Pedro lhe disse: Tus o Cristo.

And He continuedby questioningthem, "But who do you say that Iam?" Peter *answered and *said toHim, "You are the Christ."

30. E ordenou-lhes Jesus que aningum dissessem aquilo a respeitodele.

And He warned them to tell no oneabout Him.

31. Comeou ento a ensinar-lhes queera necessrio que o Filho dohomem padecesse muitas coisas,que fosse rejeitado pelos ancios eprincipais sacerdotes e pelosescribas, que fosse morto, e quedepois de trs dias ressurgisse.

And He began to teach them thatthe Son of Man must suffer manythings and be rejected by the eldersand the chief priests and the scribes,and be killed, and after three daysrise again.

32. E isso dizia abertamente. Ao quePedro, tomando-o parte,

And He was stating the matterplainly. And Peter took Him aside

and began to rebuke Him.33. Mas ele, virando-se olhando para

But turning around and seeing Hisdisciples, He rebuked Peter and*said, "Get behind Me, Satan; foryou are not setting your mind onGod's interests, but man's."

"For what will a man give inexchange for his soul?

For he did not know what toanswer; for they became terrified.

7. Nisto veio uma nuvem que oscobriu, e dela saiu uma voz quedizia: Este o meu Filho amado; aele ouvi.

Then a cloud formed,overshadowing them, and a voicecame out of the cloud, "This is Mybeloved Son, listen to Him!"

8. De repente, tendo olhado em redor,no viram mais a ningum consigo,seno s a Jesus.

All at once they looked around andsaw no one with them anymore,except Jesus alone.

9. Enquanto desciam do monte,ordenou-lhes que a ningumcontassem o que tinham visto, atque o Filho do homem ressurgissedentre os mortos.

As they were coming down from themountain, He gave them orders notto relate to anyone what they hadseen, until the Son of Man rosefrom the dead.

They seized upon that statement,discussing with one another whatrising from the dead meant.

11. Ento lhe perguntaram: Por quedizem os escribas que necessrioque Elias venha primeiro?

They asked Him, saying, "Why is itthat the scribes say that Elijah mustcome first?"

12. Respondeu-lhes Jesus: Na verdadeElias havia de vir primeiro, arestaurar todas as coisas; e como que est escrito acerca do Filho dohomem que ele deva padecer muitoa ser aviltado?

And He said to them, "Elijah doesfirst come and restore all things.Andyethow is it written of the Sonof Man that He will suffer manythings and be treated withcontempt?

14. Quando chegaram aonde estavamos discpulos, viram ao redor delesuma grande multido, e algunsescribas a discutirem com eles.

When they came backto thedisciples, they saw a large crowdaround them, andsome scribesarguing with them.

15. E logo toda a multido, vendo aJesus, ficou grandementesurpreendida; e correndo todospara ele, o saudavam.

Immediately, when the entire crowdsaw Him, they were amazed andbegan running up to greet Him.

16. Perguntou ele aos escribas: Que

And He asked them, "What are you

discussing with them?"17. Respondeu-lhe um dentre a

multido: Mestre, eu te trouxe meufilho, que tem um esprito mudo;

And one of the crowd answeredHim, "Teacher, I brought You myson, possessed with a spirit whichmakes him mute;

18. e este, onde quer que o apanha,convulsiona-o, de modo que eleespuma, range os dentes, e vaidefinhando; e eu pedi aos teus

discpulos que o expulsassem, e nopuderam.

and whenever it seizes him, it slamshim to the groundand he foams atthe mouth, and grinds his teeth andstiffens out. I told Your disciples to

cast it out, and they could not do it."

19. Ao que Jesus lhes respondeu: gerao incrdula! at quandoestarei convosco? at quando voshei de suportar? Trazei-mo.

And He *answered them and *said,"O unbelieving generation, howlong shall I be with you? How longshall I put up with you? Bring himto Me!"

20. Ento lho trouxeram; e quando eleviu a Jesus, o esprito

imediatamente o convulsionou; e oendemoninhado, caindo por terra,revolvia-se espumando.

They brought the boy to Him.When he saw Him, immediately the

spirit threw him into a convulsion,and falling to the ground, he beganrolling around and foaming at themouth.

21. E perguntou Jesus ao pai dele: Hquanto tempo sucede-lhe isto?

And He asked his father, "How longhas this been happening to him?"

Respondeu ele: Desde a infncia; And he said, "From childhood.

22. e muitas vezes o tem lanado nofogo, e na gua, para o destruir;mas se podes fazer alguma coisa,

25. E Jesus, vendo que a multido,correndo, se aglomerava,repreendeu o esprito imundo,dizendo: Esprito mudo e surdo, eute ordeno: Sai dele, e nunca maisentres nele.

When Jesus saw that a crowd wasrapidly gathering, He rebuked theunclean spirit, saying to it, "Youdeaf and mute spirit, I commandyou, come out of him and do notenter him again."

26. E ele, gritando, e agitando-o muito,saiu; e ficou o menino como morto,de modo que a maior parte dizia:

Morreu.

After crying out and throwing himinto terrible convulsions, it cameout; and the boy became so much

like a corpse that most of them said,"He is dead!"

27. Mas Jesus, tomando-o pela mo, oergueu; e ele ficou em p.

But Jesus took him by the hand andraised him; and he got up.

28. E quando entrou em casa, seusdiscpulos lhe perguntaramparte: Por que no pudemos nsexpuls-lo?

When He came into the house, Hisdisciples began questioning Himprivately, "Why could we not driveit out?"

29. Respondeu-lhes: Esta casta no saide modo algum, salvo fora deorao [e jejum.]

And He said to them, "This kindcannot come out by anything butprayer."

32. Mas eles no entendiam estapalavra, e temiam interrog-lo.

33. Chegaram a Cafarnaum. E estandoele em casa, perguntou-lhes: Queestveis discutindo pelo caminho?

They came to Capernaum; andwhen He was in the house, Hebegan to question them, "Whatwere you discussing on the way?"

John said to Him, "Teacher, we sawsomeone casting out demons inYour name, and we tried to prevent

him because he was not followingus."
