Volume V Issue VII July Newsleer Gorham Free Library Library News We have been given the go-ahead to reopen our doors to the public. There are some new expectations regarding how we can interact with each other and with the materials, and patrons inside the building are required to wear masks. See our website for a full list of the Covid-19 Policies; however, we will give you the highlights here. We are continuing our parking lot pickup service for those who prefer this option. Call to schedule your pickup and to let us know what you want. We will be incorporating limited contact check out at the desks and optional contactless hold pickup. We are holding virtual and some outdoor onsite events. While attending onsite events we must maintain social distance, wearing masks as needed. Only items from our collection will be available until system wide library loans are re-established. Contact tracing will be suggested not mandated. Call or email us with questions or concerns. July 2020 Extra, Extra, Read All About It There is so much exciting news to share with all of you. Now that Phase Four of the state’s reopening plan is underway, the library is once more able to open its doors to the public. We have missed you more than words can say. We are so glad to be able welcome you back into the library and honored to be a part of your lives. In this time of uncertainty, we un- derstand both the anxiety and the mental battles that wage over the importance of responsibility, and the desire to live free of fear. There are no easy answers right now, but there are some simple precautions. We take our role in the community seriously, and are working to ensure the health and safety of our staff and of our guests. Extra , Extra , Read Al l About It

There is so much exciting news to

share with all of you. Now that

The Gorham Free Library was chartered as a free association library by the State of

New York in 1914. Our Library is housed in one of the oldest buildings in the hamlet

of Gorham, the former Presbyterian Church, and was built in 1862. The library

moved into the building in 1968. This building is also home to the Gorham Historical

Society which is open every Wednesday from 12-4. The Gorham Free Library is

committed to serving as a center of learning and development for community members of all ages.”

We are here to provide materials and services that meet the educational, informational, cultural, and

recreational needs of the Marcus Whitman School District community. We look forward to serving you.

Programs For Children and Families:

SUMMER READING KICKOFF Visit tbe library's lawn for a low-key storytime. We will have crafts, stories, and games. Wednes-day, July 1st 10:00-11:30 A.M. MORELAND THE MAGICIAN PRESENTS HIS IMAGINE YOUR STORY SHOW: Gather on the Library lawn to watch this exceptional magician entertain us with his live show. There will also be crafts and other activities after the show. Join us on Wednesday July 15th at 10:00 A.M. For this one of a kind event. ONCE UPON A FAIRYTALE VIRTUAL PJ STORYTIME: Diane Edgecomb entertains with this delightful re-telling of unusual fairy tales. From en-chanted bears, to determined princesses, to a wild ride with a fairy-band, Thursday, July 16th at 6:30 P.M. FOLKTALE SUPERHERO VIRTUAL STORIES: Diane Edgecomb will once more lead us in a cele-bration of imagination and heroic characters with extraordinary powers. Wednesday, July 22nd at 10:00 A.M. STAR WARS JEDI TRAINING DAY This Jedi Training mixes reality and fantasy, mind-fulness and meditation, and seriousness and fun! Your little padawans will learn the skills necessary for a Jedi. They will learn to focus and clear their minds; to concentrate and feel "The Force". They will also construct their own light saber! We have class sessions for two age groups at two different times on July 29th. The first session starts at 10:15 and the second at 11:30, We will also be raffling off prizes and our Summer Reading Baskets

CONVERSATIONS ON RACE & RACISM: Brought to you by several area libraries. Join the ZOOM Discussion for a special series of virtual conversations on race & racism, facili-tated by Petra Page-Mann & Rebekah Wil-liams. We will discuss race and racism, learn how to listen, explore common ground, and be inspired to pursue individual and collective freedom. Attendance of all three sessions is recommended. VIRTUAL MURDER ON A TRAIN

MYSTERY GAME: Attend our Murder Mystery Themed Party Game. This party will take place on Sunday, July 19h at 2:00 P.M. You can even come dressed in costume. Programs for Teens & Tweens:

DIY INSPIRATIONAL DOLL WORKSHOP: Join us for a fun DIY program and art workshop led by local artist, Sarah Berg. Spirit dolls are fun to make and can also be a great reminder of goals and dreams we have for ourselves. Ma-terials will be provided, but feel free to bring found objects to deco-rate your doll!
