Extra , Extra , Read Al l About It
There is so much exciting news to
share with all of you. Now that
Phase Four of the state’s reopening
plan is underway, the library is
once more able to open its doors to
the public. We have missed you
more than words can say. We are
so glad to be able welcome you
back into the library and honored
to be a part of your lives.
In this time of uncertainty, we un-
derstand both the anxiety and the
mental battles that wage over the
importance of responsibility, and
the desire to live free of fear. There
are no easy answers right now, but
there are some simple precautions.
We take our role in the community
seriously, and are working to
ensure the health and safety of our
staff and of our guests. Check out
the side column for information on
the library services we have been
modifying and to see what your
options are for getting books etc.
We also have so many programs
planned to help you all stay enter-
tained and engaged during the
month of July and in honor of our
This garden was made by Colleen Runner and her granddaughter Danielle.
We will also be ordering new books
this month. Be on the lookout for
Outsider by Linda Castillo, A Walk
Along the Beach, Lunch With Lla-
mas, 1st Case and Cajun Justice
by James Patterson.
Summer Reading tradition. It is
worth noting, that the national
theme for Summer Reading this
year is “Imagine your story.”
Now, we may wish we could
dream up or imagine a new world
Times like this help us appreciate
how wonderful and blessed our
lives can be; however, they also
make us want to dream greater
dreams and feel deeper joys. The
written word and imagination are
tools we can use in any endeavor
to discover. We can always be
imagining and telling ourselves
stories, and we can take time to
dream and be free. Start your ad-
venture on our Summer Reading
website. All the best, Ruth
We partnered with Ontario Pathways to install the
Imagine Your Story Community Fairy Garden on the
Trailhead in Stanley. You can participate by creating
your very own fairy houses and placing them on the
fairy mound for everyone to admire. Gardens will be
awarded prizes at our Summer Reading Finale Event
on July 29th. Include your name on your creation, if
you want to be eligible for these awards. Your house
can be displayed until July 31st. After this date, you
are encouraged to collect them and bring them home.
The Gorham Free Library was chartered as a free association library by the State of
New York in 1914. Our Library is housed in one of the oldest buildings in the hamlet
of Gorham, the former Presbyterian Church, and was built in 1862. The library
moved into the building in 1968. This building is also home to the Gorham Historical
Society which is open every Wednesday from 12-4. The Gorham Free Library is
committed to serving as a center of learning and development for community members of all ages.”
We are here to provide materials and services that meet the educational, informational, cultural, and
recreational needs of the Marcus Whitman School District community. We look forward to serving you.
