Googlefest 2017
Is summer almost over?
At least we’re not here yet.
What if I Already Know this One?
Check email, help others, use restroom, eat, refine yours….
We’re at various levels, let’s see….
Let’s Start With Looking at Our Home Spaces
Make notes regarding changes you may want to make on the
flowchart provided.
The Big Picture...Organized and Works in Flow…
● Communicates outside of email, phone calls and newsletters
● Collects data to an organized source where teaching, re-teaching and assessing are able to flow and connect.
● All connections create engagement for students
● Students develop independence in their learning
Disorganized and Lack of Flow….
● Too many places you need to check for student success
● Students must create many bookmarks or download lots of apps
● Engagement is less while students and parents struggle with confusion
Student Engagement1. Students work with at least some desire to
learn or do their best2. Students feel compelled to move on
without teacher prompting3. Students ask for guidance as needed 4. Students can communicate with you more
than orally5. Students collaborate6. Students have multiple ways to show
success and are enthusiastic to show others what they’ve done
Let’s list things you’ve used that are very student engaging….
I’ve Learned So Much I’m Lost or I’ve Not Been Given the Training to Fully Utilize What’s Available….
“This workbook is AMAZING! I’m riveted.”
“ So I’m thinking Mrs. Six said I need to grab my audience in this first line. I’m REALLY motivated! Let’s see….”
Getting Started: Let’s volley1. Share your Gmail with someone near you.
2. Create a document and title it your first name.
3. Begin typing something about yourself making mistakes every so often.
SharingTeach students how to share….
● Is it okay to share with
classmates?
● How do I find my teacher’s
email?
● How do I see what changes
were made if in edit?
Let’s Practice….
Open your gmail or check your shared drive.
Let’s edit content first…
Now we will edit grammar, usage and mechanics
Tips to remember:
● Get that document in your drive
● Teach them to only share under your circumstances
● You can set the share to not show in your email
● You can use Google Classroom to save once at a time.

Google Classroom1. What are the possibilities?
a. Connect assignmentsb. Post comments, share ideasc. Handles multiple classesd. Easily workable with Google products
2. What are its limitations?a. Isn’t functional designed for parentsb. Doesn’t provide an inviting space that’s customizablec. Doesn’t provide email interactions
What Do We Do?
Connect it to our Home Place or easily accessible on chrome books
Student List and JoiningThere is a way to track
so how do we decide
the best way to assess?
Think of how grades are
used at your school.
Checking Progress, Thoughts, Ideas, etc.How many ways can we use these forms?
Okay, let’s create one….
Next let’s connect it to Home or Classroom
Creating a FormFeatures of Forms
Where do we collect data?
How do we control content and
types of answers?
Spreadsheets Created For You….Every form creates a data bank….
What can we learn from this data bank….?
Is there more we can do to make data use-
ful?
Why Create A Spreadsheet? What are possible reasons to create from
Scratch?
● Record book● Keeping track of points from various
sources● Creating groups for reading, math, camp
lists, etc.● Show growth from other data forms● Checklists for various assignments● …..
Let’s Create One….
Other Things For Home (Symbaloo?)….● Kahoot● Edpuzzle● Quizlet● IXL● Online Text● Starfall● Funbrain● Exit Ticket● United Streaming● Study Stack● Storybird● Prodigy
Which of these will have data to bring back to spreadsheets?
How can you remember which to check if days go by?
Attaching things that aren’t not data collectors
