Votes for Women Series: Seneca Falls and the Origins of the Women’s Rights Movement Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6:30pm - ONLINE via Zoom
Discuss the full significance of the revolutionary Seneca Fall Convention and the enormous changes it
produced. We will be discussing 50 years of women's activism, focusing on four extraordinary figures—
Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucy Stone, and Susan B. Anthony. Call OFL at (315) 492-1727

Author Talk: Free Thinker: Sex, Suffrage and the Extraordinary Life of Helen Hamilton Gardener
Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 6:30pm - ONLINE via Zoom
We are welcoming back author Kimberly A. Hamlin (virtually) to talk about her newest book.
Hamlin will discuss how Gardener, a “fallen woman”, battled religious ideology, pseudoscience
and political resistance to women’s right to vote.
Kimberly A. Hamlin, PhD is an award-winning historian, speaker and writer. She speaks about the
history of women, gender and sex across the U.S. A regular contributor to the Washington Post,
Hamlin's research has also been featured in NPR, and she has contributed to several PBS
documentaries. Hamlin is currently serves as historical consultant to the Bearded Lady Project,
now on view at the National Museum of Natural History. Hamlin, a graduate of West Genesee
High School, lives in Cincinnati, OH where she co-hosts Mercantile Library's "Women You Should
Know" Book Series and teaches at Miami University in Oxford, OH.
Community Conversation: The Good Immigrant Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7pm - ONLINE via Zoom
Join us for a discussion highlighting this collection of critical essays written by immigrant authors.
Community members are invited to read the book and listen to the narratives of New Americans
through a dialogue centered around immigration, integration experiences, identity politics,
xenophobia, patriotism, and any and all things in between. Call OFL at (315) 492-1727 to request a

link to join the Zoom meeting on Oct. 14.
Puzzle Swap 1. Drop-Off: Oct. 12-16 - Call to schedule
appointment to drop off your gently used puzzles.
2. At drop-off, you will receive a voucher saying how
many puzzles you can get at the swap on Oct.
24th. At this time, you will also schedule your time
slot to browse the swap (20-min time slots)
3. Swap: Oct. 24th - Come to the library at your
designated time slot, browse and choose up to
the # of puzzles stated on your voucher.
Junior Library
Volunteers Volunteer at OFL! Join our team of emerging teen
leaders. Make a positive impact in your community
working with peers on projects for the library. Help
plan events, create book displays, write book reviews
and complete community service projects. This group
can help teens fulfill required volunteer service hours
and prepare for future college and career
opportunities. Interested teens in grades 7-12, must
complete application at www.oflibrary.org/volunteer.
Due to the pandemic, meeting dates/times are TBD–
Meetings are currently virtual and will move to in-
person when the library allows in-house programming.
Family Storytime Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 10am - via Zoom
Join Miss Kori for a fun, live storytime filled with songs,
games and activities!

Inktober 2020 October 1-31
Join the Inktober movement! Get all the supplies you
need at OFL - notebooks and pens available while
supplies last.
ANYONE CAN DO INKTOBER... JUST PICK UP A PEN
AND START DRAWING!
What is Inktober? Inktober is a month-long art
challenge created by artist Jake Parker that is
focused on improving skill and developing positive
drawing habits. Every day for the month of October
participants create an ink drawing and post it online.

and #inktober2020 if you want your art to be seen by

Storytime to Go Kits Coming Soon! Bring storytimes home with you!
Encourage literacy and discovery through storytelling
and interactive play at home. Each kit has a different
theme and a variety of books, songs and activities to
reinforce early literacy skills.
Recommended for toddlers and preschoolers.
Take & Make Kits This fall, OFL is offering a variety of fun craft and
activity kits for kids that may be picked up and
brought home! Each kit includes most if not all of the
supplies needed to complete the projects and
instructions.
Recommended for kids in grades K-5.
No registration necessary.
Each kit is available while supplies last- no holds.
KITS FOR CHECKOUT! Have you been missing our games and jigsaw
puzzles? You can now check out your favorite
games, including Yahtzee, Scrabble, Candyland,
Taboo, Chess, Checkers and more, to bring home
and play with family and friends!

Cookbook Fundraiser The Friends are stirring things up a bit this fall. We are creating a
new cookbook, and we invite you to share one or more of your
favorite recipes to include in the publication.
Send your recipes to [email protected] with the subject
“Recipe”. Please include how you’d like to have your name
appear in the cookbook. (If you don’t want your name
mentioned, we’ll note that the recipe was submitted by “A
Friend”.) Feel free to include any memories or anecdotes to go
along with your recipe as well!
