A message from Deb …

Well here we are with only one day to go. So much has happened since last Wednesday’s newsletter we didn’t want the year to pass without acknowledging these events.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank some staff who will not be returning as contract teachers in 2016, at this stage. We value these staff immensely as they bring so much to our school and hope that we will see them regularly as TRT’s or possibly in contract roles at some time during 2016. First up a huge thank you to Bella for her work with the receptions this year. Staff and families have truly appreciated her commitment and

contributions. The new and improved North Yard is a result of her vision!!!!

Can you spot the new mural behind the boat on the fence? Many thanks to Dan Tompkins for creating this way cool setting!!!

Many thanks go to Emily Walker for her work in IEL 2 this year. Kristy in 3M and Ria who has had a number of roles throughout the year have been fabulous assets for our school. Staff, students and families have appreciated their professionalism and focus on quality teaching. Tanya Brennan has been working in our uniform shop for a number of years. This is a great service offered to our school. Tanya has been an asset to

our school and we thank her immensely for her time and dedication. This week we held a preschool coffee with some of the other parents who work in the shop to acknowledge her efforts.

Parents Connecting This is very much a motto across Goodwood Primary and it was great to see so many parents turn out for the ‘year 1 breakfast ‘ last Wednesday morning.

Plants for sale… Well done to 3M on running a plant stall after school to

help raise funds for the Goody Patch.

Wednesday the 3rd Italian music drifted across the playground as did the yummy smells from our pop-up café.

Well done to the year 7s and Mrs Barbon for organising this event. All funds raised will go to the Syrian Refugees Charity.

The children sold food and craft and danced the chicken dance!! IMPORTANT NOTICE Asbestos tiles will be removed form the school on January 4th. Please ensure you do not visit the

Congratulations, Goodbye and Good luck!!!!!!!!!

Our year 7’s had a fabulous graduation last Tuesday . Thanks goes to The Member for Ashford, Stephanie Key and David Pisoni’s, Member for Unley who spoke at the ceremony. The students who received David Pisonis Merit Award were: Riley Thilthorpe and Lucia Ebeling. These students demonstrated consistent skills in being a successful, creative learner/ thinker and are active & informed citizens. A lovely dinner at the Watermark Hotel completed their day of celebrations. Well done to Diane Toole. Her commitment and ability to get the best out of her students is outstanding. Well done to 3M on a great Expo on Bushfires...

They clearly understood the topic and were very keen to share their learning.

Through the feedback we were able to share our own learning

We were also able to make suggestions of how their work c o u l d b e improved.

Volunteers thank you morning tea… Many thanks to all the parents who volunteer for our school. This morning staff and parents enjoyed a lovely spread of food together. This

event is one way our staff acknowledge your wonderful contributions.

Thank you! Fantastic Donations … Thank you! Thankyou !Thankyou!! We have had a brilliant response for Christmas Hamper donations. Thank you so much. These will be donated to the Migrant Women’s Support and Accommodation Service, Adelaide. I would again like to acknowledge Janet Harper for her amazing work. At staff meeting this week staff recognised her achievements at Goodwood and the list was huge. I personally have appreciated her leadership through our Personnel Advisory Committee. Janet has the ability to put herself in the shoes of others and make considered, inclusive and constructive contributions to the major decisions made at a school level. This is not an easy thing to do and I have appreciated her skills in being able to do this. All the best for your retirement Janet.

So much has been achieved and 2016 is shaping up to be a great year. Looking forward to seeing you all in the new year.

LAST DAY OF TERM DECEMBER 11th 2:15 finish SCHOOL BEGINS MONDAY FEBRUARY 1st 2016

Great Achievements at Goodwood!

Congratulations to our preschool children who did a fantastic job of entertaining the families and friends last week!

Last week Shelley and Sacha’s Super Stars entertained the masses and taught us about looking after the environment……

The children have been working on this

over 2 terms. The quality of their

presentation, speaking and singing

engaged everyone. There was a touch of

humour while maintaining the strong

message to look after your environment.

Great Achievements at Goodwood!

Congratulations to all of our students who play the many and varied sports on offer after hours. This wouldn't happen

without the time and effort of many parents. Thanks goes to them as well.

Special Thanks to Chas Thomas for his leadership of the Out of Hours Sports

Apologies to our Hockey players, as they left the stage before a photo was taken. Congratulations to all our students!
