to importante capital. O Algarve pode somente ser descrito como – assim como tem sido

muita vezes – “O melhor destino para golfe no mundo” neste ano. isso em resumo diz tudo.

A taça do mundo foi jogada aqui, o Open de Portugal já foi jogado aqui várias vezes, e as

qualificativas do european tour são uma característica importante. Um milhão de voltas de

golfe estão a ser jogadas por ano no Algarve, principalmente por jogadores visitantes.

sem dúvida que o Algarve oferece as condições ideais para a prática deste desporto, ofere-

Golf Algarve é uma revista nova com periodicidade trimestral. como nossa principal missão,

temos a honra e o prazer de abrir as janelas e portas desta bonita região do mundo e dá-la a

conhecer a todos. É com orgulho que, nesta primeira edição, apresentamos uma perspectiva

histórica segundo sir Henry cotton; uma perspectiva contemporânea através da beleza dos

nossos campos de golfe; e uma perspectiva futurista através de novos projectos em desen-

ortugal has two distinctive golf destinations: Algarve and Lisbon. the latter is char-

acterized by its rich history and culture, and by its position within a great capital

region. the Algarve can only be described as – and it has been said many times – “the best

established golf destination in the world” for this year. that sums it all up. the World cup

has been played here, the Portuguese Open has frequently been played here and european

tour qualifying events have become a regular feature. more than one million rounds of golf

are played each year in the Algarve, mostly by visiting golfers.

there is no doubt that the Algarve offers ideal conditions for the game of golf, just as it of-

fers the best conditions to build or purchase a home, be it to settle down or just to spend

some precious time. the sun shines 350 days of the year, the ocean is spectacular, the people

are peaceful, friendly and hospitable, and - last but not least - the golf courses are among

the best anywhere in the world.

Golf Algarve is a new quarterly magazine. As our mission, we take pride and pleasure in

opening the windows and doors of this beautiful part of the world for everyone to see. in

this first edition, we are glad to present an historical perspective through sir Henry cotton;

a contemporary perspective through the beauty of the existing golf courses; and a futuris-

tic perspective through new developments, such as monte Rei and many others.

he world of golf is always full of everyday situations that

are comical, fun and unusual. inevitably, with the ab-

sence of lasting record keeping, some of them are lost forever.

Although, there are those moments that become immortalised

by photographic record, unrepeatable moments, which normally

tell a story or document a certain occurrence, which will never

repeat itself. Our answer to that: send your golf photos to us, of

those occasions that you consider special, of that tournament

when you were able to capture that special moment. send us the

record of your time on the golf course or any other golf episode.

the rules and regulations are simple: all you have to do is send

your photographs, the information required, and you will auto-

matically be eligible to win a valuable prize. you could also end

up seeing your photographs and your comments published in the

next issue of our magazine. if you know the story behind the im-

age, share it with us. tell us when and where it was shot, and any

other details that you may find interesting. We are counting on

The word, or rather the whisper, has been out for some

time now. Ears prick up at the mention of Monte Rei Golf

sardines were disappearing from the Algarve coast, severely impacting

the fishing industry and, therefore, the unemployment situation. Prime

minister António de Oliveira salazar recognized the seriousness of the

situation and decided to offer attractive financial incentives to those who

would develop tourism in the Algarve, creating alternative employment.

the stilwell family had been established in Portugal for over 50 years at

that time. their family home was in the centre of the country, where they

are the country’s largest producers of rice. it was John stilwell who came to

the Algarve in 1961 when one of his friends said, “you people really should

do something down here.” With Architect

Leonardo castro freire, whose projects includ-

ed the Ritz Hotel in Lisbon and Reid’s Hotel on

madeira, the young John stilwell looked for

possible tourism-linked projects. When some-

one suggested a golf course to go with the ho-

tel originally planned, stilwell knew the most

important ingredient – apart from a lot of land

– would be water. He was shown an expanse

of land which was rice paddy fields – and that

was the start of the story of Penina. stilwell

discovered that the land belonged to various

relations of the stilwell family which eased

negotiations, and soon he found himself one

of the owners of sociedade Agricola de Penina

and all the land that went with it.

A golf course from hectares of flat, wet, rice

fields: for most people, it would have been

too much of a challenge – but remember, the

stilwells understood rice well. John stilwell’s mother (maria de saldanha

ferreira Pinto basto) owned an estate in the centre of the country, where

they are amongst the country’s largest producers of rice.

some 25 workers were brought from the Quinta de foja farm to drain and

irrigate the land. Using years of experience and only basic tools, they cre-

ated a system of ditches and canals so that the water drained away, leav-

ing a vast expanse of soggy earth!

tabelecida em Portugal, mais precisamente no centro do país, era o maior

produtor de arroz. foi durante uma visita de John stilwell ao Algarve em

1961 que um dos seus amigos afirmou: “Vocês deveriam realmente fazer

algo cá em baixo”. Juntamente com o arquitec-

to Leonardo castro freire, responsável pelos

projectos do Hotel Ritz em Lisboa e do Reid’s

Hotel na madeira, o jovem John stilwell inves-

tigou a possibilidade de criar projectos relacio-

nados com o turismo. Quando alguém sugeriu

que um campo de golfe deveria acompanhar o

hotel inicialmente planeado, stilwell sabia que

o mais importante – para além de um terre-

Let’s go back 50 years in the Algarve, to the 1950s and 1960s. Geographically and culturally it was far removed from the

capital, and its lowly economic base was founded on farming and fishing. Tourism was unknown, the beaches were taken for

granted, and golf was unheard of.

in golf that had spanned thirty years. His strong, colourful character had

provoked jealousy and spite as well as admiration, and his sheer determi-

nation and obsession with the technical side of the game was sometimes

overlooked by those who focused on what they perceived as his arrogance

and snobbishness. but his record spoke for itself: he was undoubtedly the

most successful british golfer of his time. Not only had he won many of

the major events, including three british Opens, he had changed the face

of golf as a sport and with it, the status of golf professionals. He had al-

ready designed a number of golf courses around the UK. His knowledge

and understanding of strategy and stroke play were unmatched and this,

together with his imagination and creativity, led to some very challenging

designs.

so when John stilwell looked for a designer for the course to be created

from the drained rice paddy fields, it was perhaps inevitable, given that

he wanted only the best, that he and Henry cotton would find each other.

cotton accepted the task, much to the horror of his Argentinian wife toots

who felt that Penina would ruin his reputation. He was given a totally free

hand, and he had a lot of land to play with. With the exception of a cou-

ple of key specialists brought in from the UK for foundation work and the

like, the entire championship golf course at Penina was created by Henry

cotton and local workers including those from the family rice farm. cotton

would make plasticine models of each hole and the workers would fol-

low them. thousands of trees and shrubs were planted, earth removed for

drainage created undulations and raised tees, and within two years the

course was opened, on 1st June 1966.

Henry cotton himself said that it was his greatest achievement, and the

one by which he wished to be remembered. Officials have said that it is

one of the only true championship courses in southern europe, and it has

hosted the Portugal Open a total of 11 times. the first three Open events

there were won on par scores, and seasoned professionals who have

played it say that it is one of the great tests of golf because of the strategic

positioning of the hazards and the in-built understanding of the game.

the very first event held at Penina was a Portuguese Open. Officials, in

order perhaps to spite cotton – the relationship remained one of uneasy

cluindo três vezes o british Open, como mudou a face do golfe como um

desporto e, por arrastamento, o estatuto dos profissionais de golfe. ele já

havia desenhado uns quantos campos de golfe no Reino Unido. O seu rico

conhecimento da estratégia do jogo, assim como da execução das panca-

das, era incomparável. Ambos aliados à imaginação e criatividade deram

origem a alguns conceitos muito interessantes.

Por isso, quando John stilwell procurou um arquitecto para o campo a

ser construído a partir de um arrozal drenado era talvez inevitável, dado

o facto de querer somente o melhor, que ele e Henry cotton se viessem a

encontrar. cotton aceitou a proposta, para horror da sua esposa argentina,

toots, que pensou que o Penina iria arruinar a sua reputação. foi-lhe dada

toda a liberdade e tinha muito espaço para explorar. À excepção de alguns

especialistas indispensáveis trazidos do Reino Unido para as fundações e

trabalhos relacionados, todo o campo do Penina foi criado por Henry cot-

ton e pelos trabalhadores locais, incluindo os que vieram da exploração de

arroz da família. cotton criava modelos de plasticina para cada buraco e os

trabalhadores seguiriam o modelo. milhares de árvores e arbustos foram

plantados, a terra removida para as drenagens era utilizada para criar on-

dulações e tees elevados e, passados dois anos, o campo foi inaugurado a

1 de Junho de 1966.

Henry cotton afirmou que foi este o seu maior êxito pelo qual gostaria de

ser lembrado. Os especialistas dizem que é este um dos poucos verdadei-

ros campos de alta competição do sul da europa, tendo já recebido 11 vezes

truce to the very end – set the tees at the most forward point possible

on each hole. cotton had deliberately designed the course with flexible

tee-off points, but to do this made the course ridiculously easy for the

professionals. cotton was very angry and did not contain his wrath: the

head green keeper manuel Nunes had to physically separate cotton and

the official who had set the tees for that day’s play before they came to

blows. During the night someone went around the course and moved all

the tees to the very back position for each hole. this totally changed the

course and made it extremely difficult, even for the professionals. the cul-

prit was never officially found, although cotton was convinced it was his

wife toots – at once both his greatest critic and fiercest ally – who had

done it to prove a point with the officials.

even today Penina remains a true championship course, and one which

continues to attract players from around the world. it was Henry cotton’s

first – but not only – course in the Algarve, his masterpiece. And it was the

start of the boom that has put the region well and truly on the golfing map.

profissionais. O culpado nunca foi oficialmente descoberto, embora cotton

ficasse convencido que tivesse sido a sua esposa toots – simultaneamente

a sua maior crítica e mais feroz aliada – tinha-o feito para chamar os res-

ponsáveis à razão.

Ainda hoje, o Penina continua a ser um verdadeiro campo de alta compe-

tição e continua a atrair jogadores de todo o mundo. foi o primeiro – mas

não o único – campo no Algarve, a sua obra-prima. foi o início da grande

expansão desta região que a colocou verdadeiramente no mapa do golfe.

stamp” due to the size of its green. Depending on the wind direction

it can be anything from a short to a long iron. beware of the four well

positioned bunkers that guard the green, which make walking off this

green with a par three, a more than satisfying result.

adjoins the beach with sand on either side of the fairway. three well-hit

shots are required to reach the saucer shaped green.

Architects. His philosophy - to create a course as if it has al-

ways been there - has been sensitively applied at boavista,

preserving, integrating and harmonising with the area’s

natural terrain. the signature hole on the outward nine is the

stunning par-4, 7th hole set against a glorious backdrop of the

Atlantic ocean with exhilarating panoramic views extending

from Praia da Luz round to with the hills at monchique.

boavista Golfe abriu ao público a 1 de Janeiro de 2002. este im-

pressionante campo de golfe foi desenhado por Howard swan

msc, antigo presidente do instituto europeu de Arquitectos de

campos de Golfe. A sua filosofia - criar um campo de golfe en-

quanto parte integrante do meio envolvente - foi aplicada em

boavista, preservando e integrando o campo harmoniosamen-

Alto Golf was the last to be designed by the legendary sir

Henry cotton. the winding fairways and elevated greens re-

flect sir Henry’s golfing philosophy of providing low handicap

players with a testing game and still affording plenty of enjoy-

ment for players at average club level and providing satisfac-

tion and inspiration for beginners.

Designed along parkland lines spans across two gently slop-

ing valleys. the back nine, set on rolling slopes, include the re-

markable Henry cotton challenge, which was once the long-

est Par 5 in europe at 604 meters.

the first course to be built in the Algarve, completed in 1966

and designed by the late sir Henry cotton. the Penina is un-

questionably where golf started in this southern corner of

the iberian Peninsula. Prestigious events such as the Daily

telegraph seniors match play event (2000/1), the National

finals of Audi corp, together with major international and

charity competitions such as the sir Henry cotton team

trophy and sir Henry cotton charity classic - in November

and may, respectively - together with the Portuguese Algarve

the second shot also has to be long and accurate and it should be hit

it requires a long and a well struck iron shot slightly to the centre left

of the green to avoid the great lake situated next to the tee and goes

all the way to the green. in ideal conditions, this green will hold the ball

sita uma pancada longa e bem batida de ferro um pouco para o centro

esquerdo do green para evitar o grande lago que se situa junto ao tee e

tres away. A creek is crossing the fairway 250 metres from the tee.

the second shot requires a fairway wood to the green which is well

guarded by bunkers in front and to the left and right.

shot with a PW/sW.

O buraco final necessita de um drive para evitar o bunker à direita a 200

the Pinta course is a championship course with an excep-

tional layout designed by the famous American golf course

architect, Ronald fream, and inaugurated in 1992. it was con-

ceived to challenge golfers of all standards. the Pinta course

was 6 consecutive times host to the seniors tour. the rolling

terrain is dotted with carob, fig, almond and olive trees, some

of which are more than 600 years old, and a very special fea-

ture of this course is one olive tree that dates back more than

1200 years.

O campo Vale da Pinta foi inaugurado em 1992 e concebido

por Ronald fream. O seu estatuto de campo championship foi

adquirido por ter recebido consecutivamente 6 eventos da alta

the former World Nr. 1, Nick Price, has teamed up with the

well-known golf course architect, Ronald fream, to create a

uniquely designed 18 hole course with 27 varied greens that

enable the golfer to play the same course several times with

different greens and new challenges. in 2005 the Gramacho

course hosted the Portuguese Ladies Open. the design tech-

nique has positioned the greens and protective bunkers so

that an 18 hole round is a genuine challenge.

this conventional Par-72 course opened in the year 2000.the

back nine holes were completely refurbished. the refurbish-

ment and the totally new outward half were both designed

by renowned golf architects, martin Hawtree. millennium is

unquestionably one of the most beautiful courses ever built in

Portugal, due to its excellent integration in the surroundings,

to the investment done in landscape and to the quality and

diversity of the layout that are a result of extreme care in the

construction of this golf course.

nove buracos foram completamente renovados com a autoria

do arquitecto inglês, martin Hawtree, o millennium é segura-

mente um dos mais belos percursos de golfe construídos em

Laid out over low-lying coastal terrain, this course, with its

many water hazards and few trees, is considerably different

from the other ones at the resort and many of its holes con-

vey a links atmosphere. U.s. golf architect Joseph Lee designed

this course which was opened in 1990 and many previous visi-

tors will recognise it as part of the former 27-hole Vilamoura

iii course. it has been subject to continual improvements over

the years. there are several lakes, which influence play on a

total of 11 holes. Vilamoura’s master developers, Lusotur, have

also established an environmental nature park not far from

the course.

O campo de Golfe Laguna, com muitos lagos e poucas árvo-

res, é diferente dos outros campos de Vilamoura. este campo,

desenhado pelo arquitecto de golfe Joseph Lee, foi inaugura-

do em 1990. muitos dos visitantes anteriores irão vê-lo como

parte do antigo buraco 27 do campo de golfe Vilamoura iii. O

Golfe Laguna tem sido alvo de inúmeras alterações ao longo

dos anos. O campo inclui diversos lagos que influenciam o

jogo num total de 11 buracos. A Lusotur instalou também um

parque natural não muito longe do campo.

situated in the heart of the Vilamoura seaside resort a mere

20-minute drive from faro airport, this frank Pennink de-

signed parkland style layout is one of the oldest in the region

and renowned all over the golfing world. Often described as

the Grande Dame of Algarve courses, it meanders throughout

impressive pine trees - the principal hazard - over gently undu-

lating natural terrain. Although it opened in 1969, the course

was completely renovated and modernised 27 years later al-

though there were no major changes. environment is a major

consideration in the Old course.

Pinhal was inaugurated in 1976, having originally been de-

signed by frank Pennink, the architect of the nearby Vilamoura

Old course. several refinements were incorporated over the

years, the most significant one by Robert trent Jones sr. in

1985. it is typified by rolling parkland terrain covered with

numerous umbrella and Atlantic pines that line many of the

fairways and a few even stand out on fairways or near greens.

Ponds and a stream come into play on five holes but are not

serious threats to above-average golfers.

O Pinhal, inaugurado em 1976, foi o segundo campo de golfe

a ser construído em Vilamoura, tendo originalmente sido de-

senhado pelo mesmo arquitecto que desenhou o Old course,

frank Pennink. Vários refinamentos foram incorporados ao

longo dos anos, sendo o mais significante o que foi levado a

cabo por Robert trent Jones sr. em 1985. está situado em ter-

reno coberto por pinheiros de várias espécies, marcando os

fairways. Pequenos lagos e um ribeiro entram na jogada em 5

buracos mas não são ameaças sérias para o golfista médio.

the two 18 holes courses at Quinta do Lago offer different chal-

lenges. the terrain is similar on both courses, based on sandy

algarvean soil covered covered with pine trees, heather, broom

and many beautiful wild flowers. the terrain is gently undu-

lating and several lakes feature in the play of each course. the

layouts provide a test for players of all ability levels – the sign

of great golf courses.

características de um solo arenoso Algarvio, coberto de pinhei-

opened in 1988, san Lorenzo occupies an exclusive and char-

ismatic location within the prestigious Quinta do Lago Resort

and Ria formosa Nature Reserve. the course is rated among

the top ten in europe and consistently maintained to a high

standard. the Golf course lingers long in the memory of all

who play it – a combination of natural beauty, pristine pres-

entation and hole after hole of challenging golf. While much

of the course meanders through typical Algarvian pinewoods,

it also opens to stunning ocean vistas and distant mountains

backdrops. Playing in san Lorenzo becomes a memorable ex-

perience to all levels of play, although low handicap players

can enjoy it the most.

and ocean beyond. Disappearing around the steeply pitched hill to your

left, the fairway continues along the marsh to a small green.

Pro’s tip – your drive must be on fairway - there is no forgiveness left or

right and water awaits any over-ambitious drive.

the drive must be placed between a high bank on the left and water on

the right. the tip of the fairway curls right and the second shot is to a

green set into the marshland. Pro’s tip – At high tide, when the water

tightens along the fairway and around the front of the green, this is

truly a beautiful hole. Avoid the temptation to cut the corner.

Pinheiros Altos is a highly original course with two sets of

nine holes that have completely opposing characteristics. the

spacious practice area is frequently used by a number of pro-

fessional golfers in the period before the tournament season

begins. While the first nine holes are over rolling sandy under-

growth with gentle pine trees, the shorter second half runs

through hills dotted with lakes that present the main obstacle

for the golfers on this course.

O campo de Golfe Pinheiros Altos é extremamente original,

com dois conjuntos de 9 buracos que se distinguem completa-

mente um do outro nas suas características. A espaçosa área

de prática é usada com frequência por muitos profissionais de

golfe no período que antecede o início da época de torneios.

A simple looking hole, but requiring an accurate tee shot to find a fair-

way that has out of bounds on the left and water on the right. the sec-

ond shot tests your distance control and nerve as an approach normally

played from between 120-150m must be played over water to an undu-

lating green that has greenside bunkers at the rear of the green.

Aparenta ser um buraco simples, mas requer uma primeira pancada pre-

cisa para encontrar um fairway com fora de limites à esquerda e água à

direita. A segunda pancada testa o seu controle de distância e os seus

Although not a long hole the approach needs to be played from the fair-

way as distance control and accuracy are vital if you are to give yourself

a chance of picking up a shot. the undulating green is situated just over

a small stream and if you get on the wrong side of the green then three

putting is a strong possibility.

Apesar de não ser um buraco longo, a aproximação necessita de ser feita

do fairway porque o controlo da distância e da precisão são vitais para

finalizar bem esta jogada. O green está situado acima de um pequeno

riacho, e se ficar do lado errado do green então a probabilidade fazer três

Out of bounds on both sides of a narrow fairway penalises the wayward

player, for those with a fragile drive it is better to hit a fairway wood

or long iron from the tee. Once on the fairway the hole is not over the

second shot is normally played with a mid to long iron and must find a

green that is bunkered on both sides.

the final hole is one of the best finishing holes to be found in the Algarve,

not only the 415m between the tee and the hole, but also the lake that

runs all the way down the right and in front of the green and the undu-

lating green. All together to ensure that you will have to concentrate all

the way until the final putt safely reaches the bottom of the hole.

este buraco é um dos melhores buracos no Algarve, não só pelos 415 me-

tros entre o tee e o buraco, como também pelo lago que “corre” a todo o

comprimento pela direita e em frente do green ondulante. esta combi-

and short game. if you are a beginner this is an ideal place to learn to

como pensa que a cozinha italiana se insere nesta região do Algarve?

Acho que muito bem, uma vês que ambas são gastronomias mediterrâneas

com características de certo modo semelhantes e que se complementam

muito bem uma com a outra. tratam-se de gastronomias saudáveis à base

de produtos como o óleo de oliva (azeite), o tomate e outros vegetais e

especiarias. O peixe e os mariscos são muito predominantes em ambas

as tradições culinárias. È bom lembrar que as condições climatéricas e

culturais são semelhantes nos dois países.

Quais os vinhos mais solicitados pelos seus clientes?

sem dúvida os vinhos da região da bella toscana. O seu clima e os solos

característicos, produzem vinhos apreciados pelo mundo inteiro: desde

o Nobile di montepulciano, ao chianti e o verdadeiro ex-libris italiano, o

fantástico brunello di montalcino.

e as sobremesas, quais as preferidas?

O tiramissu, quem não conhece o tiramissu? É seguramente a sobremesa

mais solicitada nos nossos restaurantes.

mr. Palmeira, tell us about your involvement in gastronomy here in

Algarve.

At this time, i am proud to have 3 excellent italian restaurants, with

the mission to promote high quality and service in our country: in 2004

opened Ristorante Dolce Vita (an immediate success), in 2005 the the

Palms Ristorante (giving continuation to the tradition of quality) and

in 2006 the belmondo Gourmet Ristorante appears as a result of the

Pestana Group’s recognition of our dedication and hard work.

How do you see italian cuisine fitting in this area of the Algarve?

i think it fits very well, since both are mediterranean gastronomy with

somewhat similar characteristics and complement each other very

well. We are dealing with very healthy type of gastronomy based on

products such as olive oil, tomato and other vegetables and spices.

fish and seafood are very prominent in both culinary traditions. it is

important to remember that the climate and cultures are similar in

each country.

What are the most requested wines by your patrons?

Without a doubt the wines from the bella toscana region. its

characteristic climate and soil produce wines that are appreciated

worldwide: from the Nobile di montepulciano, to the chianti and the

truly italian ex-libris, the fantastic brunello di montalcino.

What about desserts, what are the favourites?

tiramissu, who doesn’t know the tiramissu? it is by far the most

requested dessert in our restaurants.

areas are way above ours. Good news for people wishing to buy a quality

product within easy access from most UK airports as well as from Dublin

and belfast. And great news for the lucky property owners in the area as

prices still have a long way to rise to. buyers have done their homework

and are keen to make clever investments. they can see that the Quinta

do Lago resort offers a history and credibility, facilities and infrastructure

not easily found elsewhere. And if it can’t be Quinta do Lago because buy-

ers want larger plots or would prefer not to be in a resort, then the im-

mediate surrounding areas offer a variety of stunning properties. these

are made all the more interesting through its vicinity to the championship

Puttinghe putting technique is commonly overlooked by most amateurs – only a

few commit themselves to develop a sound technique with strong basic

fundamentals.

the basic fundamentals consist on a good grip, posture and proper pendular

movement of the club.

i am not going to focus on the grip itself because one can adopt a grip style out of

many good ones, as long as it allows for a smooth club movement and very light

hand pressure.

POstURethe eyes must be directly above or slightly in-

side the target line. test yourself by placing a

ball between your eyes and let it drop. it’s easier

to line up this way. it is okay to let the ball drop

slightly behind as well.

tARGet LiNePush a club into your hips as shown. At the same time, your spine stays pretty straight

and the knees will bend.

the weight must be in the middle of your feet for steady balance.

ONe mOVemeNt ONLyPlace a putter in your hands with a very soft grip

and your arms will bend slightly.

if your arms are stretched and tight, they will

force your hips to move a little bit as the shoul-

ders rotate and you want to avoid that.

ReLAxeD ARmsPlace your putter just bellow your armpits. move your knees inwards like if you where

squeezing a ball between them. then, rock your shoulders back and forward so that

the club tips up and down.

Just feel one movement on your putting stroke – the shoulders’.

No wrists, arms, hips or legs.

Place two clubs by the hole. they must be parallel, and the space between them has to

be just wider than the putter head. Don’t let the putter touch the shafts as you swing

it. Place 3 tees, as shown in the pictures. Place your ball by the middle tee. make your

stroke so that your club doesn’t touch the back tee and moves through the ball, never

stopping short of the front tee. this will guarantee that your club will never decelerate

through impact. Remember, the club moves through the ball – it does not hit the ball.

AcceLeRAtiON tHROUGH tHe bALLHold your fi nish as the ball roles into the hole (it’s

a good player’s requisite). this will give you great

distance control and confi dence.

sWiNG tHe sHAft ON ONe PLANeset the shaft parallel to your legs as shown in the picture. swing it

back and through on the same plane. Hold your fi nish still on the

same plane.
