We would like to take this opportunity to express our thanks to the outgoing captains and prefects who have been a most amazing group of young leaders. They have performed any task asked of them with enthusiasm and 100% commitment. They have been exemplary role models for our younger students in their presentation, behaviour and attitudes. They have represented our school to the best of their ability and have set themselves a high standard in all tasks. The captains and prefects for 2017 will run this assembly. At the conclusion of the assembly Year 6 students will remain behind in the Canteen COLA for photos before progressing on to our movie day.

Farewell Year 6 Social

As is tradition, Year 5 will host the Year 6 graduation social next Monday evening, 12th December, in the School Hall. We thank Woolworths for their generous donation of a Graduation cake. DJ Matt Brown is again booked for the night and will bring along his photo-booth. We thank the P&C for their generous offer to pay for the cost of the Photo-booth again this year. We remind students that this is a social and not a formal, and appropriate clothing should be worn. Girls have been asked not to wear strapless dresses or heels. Flat shoes are much better for dancing. We hope that students “have the time of their lives”!

Christmas Concert

Our exciting K-2 Christmas Concert will be happening tomorrow Wednesday 7th December. We welcome all

Helpers’ Morning Tea

A special morning tea for our parent helpers, volunteers, scripture teachers, canteen helpers and reading tutors will be held on Thursday 8

th December. This is a

wonderful opportunity for the staff at Milton Public School to show their appreciation and to personally thank each and every one of the fabulous volunteers who give their time to support our school and for their outstanding contribution to the learning of our students.

Choirs Performing at Christmas

Carols

This year, as per tradition, the 1-2 Choir and the 3-6 Choir will perform at the annual Milton Christmas Carols. They will be held at the Village Green on Wednesday the 14th of December. A note will be sent home today with all the details.

Stop Work Meeting Thursday 8th

December

This Thursday there is a Stop Work Meeting for teachers in public schools across NSW. This is an opportunity for all teachers to hear an explanation of the terms of settlement for a new salaries and conditions award as well as find out more about future campaigns, particularly in regard to the increase in workload. The New South Wales Teachers' Federation (teachers, principals and executive who work in public schools) do not want this to be an inconvenience and so minimal supervision will be provided on Thursday morning. We anticipate lessons commencing Thursday shortly after 9:30am. Please send your child to school as normal.

RSPCA Fundraiser

The Student Council would like to thank everyone who enthusiastically participated in the RSPCA fundraiser. The costumes, soft toys and pet photos were amazing! The Student Council judges had a difficult task on the day as Milton Public School students and staff all oozed with originality and cuteness. Our school is able to donate $645 to this worthy cause thanks to your generosity.

NSW PSSA Cricket State

Carnival

Congratulations to Drew and Lachlan who competed for the South Coast Cricket Team at the NSW State Titles in Sydney. The South Coast won all four of their matches and defeated McKillop in the final to claim victory and be

announced state champions for 2016. Both boys produced fine efforts and have topped off an outstanding year of cricket. Well done.

PSSA Cricket Knockout

Congratulations to the Milton Public School Boy’s Cricket team in reaching the semi-final of the NSW PSSA State Knockout Competition. Milton travelled to Lighthouse Oval last Tuesday to compete in the quarter finals against Camden South Public School. Milton won the toss and elected to bat against a well drilled and confident side who won the competition last year. Milton got off to a quick start with Lachlan and Drew finding the middle of the bat and the boundary on many occasions. They were well supported by the rest of the batsmen and managed a total of 142 after their 25 overs. A confident Milton bowled and fielded well, however, Camden South were 80 runs after 12 overs without the loss of a wicket. Milton dug deep and the secret weapon, Isaac came on to bowl and made the vital breakthrough with a fine display of spin bowling. Some great catching and excellent fielding saw wickets continue to fall with Milton winning the game in the final over. Camden South managed an excellent score of 137 runs. Milton finally made it to the semi-finals and will give their all in Maitland. The sportsmanship from the players and positive encouragement from the Milton parents was a delight to witness. Thank you to all the parents for scoring and providing transport all year. Editors Note: Well done to super coach, Mr Grant for all the coaching, managing and support through the year.

Eurobodalla District Sport

Representative Assembly

On Wednesday 14th at 9:30am we will be holding an

assembly 9:30am in the school hall to present certificates to all students that represented Eurobodalla District in sport. Parents are welcome to attend.

The GIVING Tree

In the front office we have a Christmas GIVING Tree on display. Over the next few days we encourage you and your children to contribute with non-perishable food items and new toys (that may be wrapped indicating the gender and age of the present) for local people in need. All donations will be given to the SALVOS. Each person that donates will be given a card to hang on the Christmas tree with your family's name. These cards may be decorated and then hung with pride, knowing that your children and family has helped someone in need at Christmas. It is a time for appreciation of what we have and a time for giving, so please give generously. Share in the joy of Christmas and encourage your children to help others.

Canteen Reducing Stock for

End of Year

Please be advised that as we get closer to the end of the year, the canteen will be reducing stock levels to minimise waste. It would be appreciated if parents could list an alternative when placing lunch orders in

Page 4: Gold Bar 3 Awards Mia Ella...Mia Mia is worthy of her Gold Bar 3! She is a wonderful student. She is a happy and caring student and fantastic to be around. If you have ever been in

the event that your first request is no longer available. Thank you once again to all the wonderful volunteers who have helped in the canteen this year and we hope to see you and many more new volunteers next year.
