This onboard operating system manages all the inflight system hardware, as well as the network. FLEX OS is a scalable software platform that offers high reliability, robust performance and enterprise security. Through Gogo FLEX OS software updates, you can improve internet performance while seamlessly—and remotely—enhancing onboard server and modem capabilities.

Gogo FLEX Developer

The open architecture of the Gogo inflight internet allows airlines to move beyond traditional vertically integrated systems. Now, you are in control.

Gogo FLEX Developer lets you bring API and SDK development in-house, or turn to third-party providers for total flexibility in designing the passenger experience.

Reliable, high-speed inflight internet: everywhere, all the time The Gogo FLEX 2Ku Inflight System is a bundled kit of all the onboard hardware and software needed to deliver inflight internet access to passengers across the globe.

The heart of the system is the 2Ku access technology that includes a dual antenna—one for the forward link, which transmits data to the aircraft, and one for the return link, which receives data. This unique design delivers peak speeds of 15 Mbps to each passenger device, covers 98% of all flight hours worldwide, and provides 98% availability, outperforming competing solutions on the market.

Built to deliver significantly more bandwidth to aircraft, our high throughput modem minimizes service disruptions associated with beam switching, allowing faster satellite handoffs and a more consistent passenger experience.

A dual demodulator within the modem simultaneously supports connectivity and IPTV, ensuring your passengers stay entertained. And since the FLEX 2Ku Inflight System is designed with an open architecture, the antenna is compatible with HTS and other next-gen Ku satellites to deliver greater capacity and superior service as new technologies come online.

As the flight nears the equator, the oval-shaped beam produced by conventional aero antennas interferes with adjacent satellites (shown in red). To avoid this interference, the conventional aero antenna lowers transmit power even further, reducing data rates both to and from the aircraft.

Gogo 2Ku’s unique antenna projects a narrow beam, which avoids adjacent satellite interference and delivers a more consistent internet experience on flights near the equator.

Due to oval-shaped wide beams, the performance of conventional aero antennas suffer in high skew angle regions (illustrated in yellow/orange on map).

With conventional aero antennas, long-haul flights that cross the equator operate with poor performance during a significant portion of the flight. For example, a flight leaving Los Angeles headed to Callao, Peru, will suffer from outages of up to 76% of flight time.

HTS satellitesHigh throughput satellites provide significantly higher data transfer speed than conventional satellites (around 100 Mbps to the aircraft), primarily by employing spot beams that cover a smaller area.
