born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,

the third day he arose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

RESPONSE All things come from you, O God
and with gratitude, we return to you what is yours.
You created all that is, and with love formed us in your image.
When our love failed, your love remained steadfast.
You gave your only Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior.
All that we are, and all that we have, is a trust from you.
And so, in gratitude for all your gifts,
we offer ourselves, and all that we have,
in union with Christ’s offering for us.
By your Holy Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other,
and one in ministry to all the world;
Through your Son Jesus our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Decorating the Sanctuary for Christmas will begin tomorrow, November 25, at
5:30 pm. We need volunteers to help the Worship Committee to decorate our church and
Sanctuary. This is a wonderful family tradition to prepare our sanctuary for Christmas.
Everyone is invited to help!
The 2020 Flower Calendar has been placed in the Narthex closest to the Chapel.
Please sign up for the Sunday(s) you would like to place flowers on the altar or organ in
honor or memory during 2020.
The Church Council will meet Monday, December 2 at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship
Hall.
Dear Church Family,
For many years, you have overwhelmingly fulfilled the Love Others portion of our Mission
Statement with your generosity to the Angel Tree and homeless children projects. The need was
presented and you readily responded assuring that these children had gifts to open on Christmas
morning and to know that they are loved.
Last year, Anna Odom, Guidance Counselor at Cordova, and a team of her coworkers used your
donations to purchase gifts for twenty needy children at CMS. Also, your generous donations
provided toboggans and gloves for the homeless children in grades K-8. High school students
received toboggans, gift cards from Rue 21, as well as fast food gift cards that were provided by
circle members. Approximately 120 youth and children benefited from your kindness. Thank you
for showing your love for others through the sharing of your bounty.
Once again, we are asking for your support in this mission project as we continue to Love Others.
You may make a monetary donation or purchase gift cards from fast food restaurants that offer
special deals, such as McDonald’s, KFC, and Burger King. Checks should be made out to
FUMC and marked for Children’s Christmas Project. We will need these donations by
Sunday, December 8th. Checks and gift cards may be placed in the offering plate, brought to
the church office or given to Mary Jane Bankhead or Jean Way—whatever is most
convenient for you.
We are grateful for you and your support of this mission. Thank you.
