Be SPECIFIC• Who? Who is involved?

• What? What do I want to accomplish?

• Where? Identify a location.

• When? Establish a time frame.

• Which? Identify requirements and constraints.

• Why? Specific reason, purpose or benefit to you.

Ask questions like:

• How much?• How many?• How often?

E.g. Instead of “I want to lose weight”; say“I want to lose 10kgs in three months.”

Make it MEASURABLE

Page 11: Goal setting

Your dream will remain a dream unless you create an action plan for how you can achieve your goals.

Your action plan should consist of manageable steps that build upon each other to move you forward.

Don’t forget to begin with the end in mind!

Create a clear ACTION plan

Make it REALISTIC

A goal can be both high and realistic.

Your goal is probably realistic if you truly believe that it can be accomplished and can identify the steps that will get you there.

Page 13: Goal setting

Make it TANGIBLE and TIME-FRAMED

• A goal is tangible when you can experience it with one of the senses.

• When you can make your goal tangible, or tie in a tangible goal to an intangible one - your goal has a much better chance of being specific, measurable and attainable.

• A goal is more successful if it has a time-frame (which is realistic).

• Lack of skills/knowledge• Fear• Low motivation• Not having a starting point• Procrastination• Lack of self-belief.

from survival job to survival job.

• Are not focussed.• Have no direction.• Just want the pay packet.• Waste time.
