brings students to the Japanese capital of Tokyo and offers them an opportunity to develop global perspectives with an emphasis on Asia, including a number of courses that delve deeper into Japan and the region, for example, “Japanese Management,” “Globalization of Japanese and Asian Companies,” and “Entrepreneurial Leadership.” Students have access to an excellent support system that provides them with an orientation on living in Japan and helps to find them housing, in addition to offering Japanese-language study and placement assistance. There is a special scholarship system available that reduces the burden on students by providing the tuition fee for one year. As students begin to put the finishing touches on their education in May, the “Corporate Mentorship Program” (CMP) offers them a chance to either spend at least 100 hours in an internship with a major company or do further corporate case study research and formulate a business plan (3 credits). The program is a collaboration between the Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University and major global companies with operations in Japan.

A total of 53 companies as of September 4, 2014, have participated in the CMP, including AEON, Van Cleef & Arpels, A.T. Kearney, Omron, Industrial Growth Platform, Johnson & Johnson, GE Japan, Bayer, Pfizer, PHLIP MORRIS JPANA, McKinsey & Company, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking, Rakuten, Ricoh, and Lawson (full list below). The goal of the Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University is to develop entrepreneurs and change agents who can bring creativity and innovations to global society. It believes the English-language MBA program in Tokyo offers one solution to the challenge confronting Japan of how to develop globally-oriented talent. Distinguished by its collaboration with the CMP participating companies, the course provides students the opportunity to acquire practical business skills and provides participating companies the opportunity to hire globally-oriented talent. The predecessor of the current program, the GLOBIS “GDBA” original MBA program, began in 2003. The Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University opened in 2006 (initially established as a stock corporation, the school converted to an educational corporation in 2008). Since opening, it has focused on “developing skills,” “building human networks,” and “fostering ambition” in its efforts to train leaders who will create and innovate societies. In addition to the Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya campuses, it opened its Sendai Campus in 2012 and its Fukuoka Campus in 2013. When it began in 2006, it had 78 students; in April 2014, there were 598 enrolled (not including the 31 new students), making it one of the largest business schools in Japan. It launched a part-time English-language MBA program in 2009 and a full-time English-language MBA program in October 2012. Today, it attracts a large number of both Japanese and international students. The Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University provides support for the training of business leaders who wish to catalyze change and spearhead new developments. It aims to become the No.1 business school in Asia. Reference: Companies participating in the Corporate Mentorship Program (CMP) IID, Inc. AEON Co., Ltd. Intelligence, Ltd. Intralink KK A.T.
