Global Warming: A Hot Topic

The Earth's atmosphere experiencing a gradual increase in temperature. In which is usually caused by chlorofluorocarbons,

carbon dioxide, and other pollutants increasing levels.

What is Global Warming???

• Water Vapor (H2O)• Carbon Dioxide (CO2)

• Methane (CH4)• Nitrous Oxide (N2O)

• Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)

Chemicals that Contribute to Global Warming

• Deforestation• Fracking/Mining • Misinformation

• Excess use of electricity• Ozone layer destruction

• Burning Fossil Fuels• Expansion of the "greenhouse effect"

Causes of Global Warming

• Global Warming Emissions by Economic Sector• Source: IPCC Fourth Assessment • Report: Climate Change 2007,Working Group III: Mitigation of Climate Change, Chapter 1. This is a snapshot of emissions in 2004

Data of Global WarmingWaste & wastewater

2.8 %Energy Supply 25.9%

Transport 13.1%

Forestry 17.4%

Agriculture 13.5%

Industry 19.4%

Residential & commercial buildings7.9%

Effects of Global Warming

• Climate Change• Mass Extinctions• Rising Sea Levels

• Increase in National Disasters• Invasive Species Surge

• Rise of Disease• Thermal expansion

• Climate Change• Increase in Natural Disasters• Damage to Agriculture• Algal Blooms• Wildlife Extinctions

Local Effects of Global Warming

• Education-making Environmental Science a required classo Private investors and Ohio Board of Education

o Send representatives to make other states follow suito Inspire national government to make a law

The #1 Solution

More Data on Global Warming

Don’t Believe43.2% Believe

In a survey of 81 WSU freshman students… 19 have taken environmental sciences some point of their high school career while only 5 students said the class was a requirement to graduate.

• Walk more often instead of driving• Use alternative energy such as solar panels• Use energy compact fluorescent light bulbs

• Turn off electricity when not in use (ex: lights, fans, television, air conditioning, heat, etc.)

• Spread awareness and inform about global warming• Recycle more often

• Plant trees

Simple Solutions to Global Warming

• Clean water• High biodiversity• More self clean up• Normal sea levels

• Normal geographics• Normal temperatures

• Frequent use of renewable resources and alternative energy• Government involvement/Understanding

A Vision of the "Perfect Future"
