Crisis managementIn an emergency our global casualty team can be on the ground, when and where you need us. Our team offers support at every stage from containment, investigation and triage through to settlement of claims. Our track record speaks for itself: we’ve acted in some of the largest recent casualties including the “ALEXANDER 1”, “MAERSK HONAM” and “SANCHI”.

Claims and disputes We work with charterers, owners, logistics companies and their P&I Clubs and insurers on any claims and disputes arising out of the carriage of goods and people. We offer full support for P&I and FD&D, collaborating closely with our casualty team and personal injury practice. We’ve worked on some of the market’s biggest disputes including the “ALPINE ETERNITY”, “PACIFIC VOYAGER” and “YUSUF CEPNIOGLU”.

Environment and regulation

We can help you prepare for the era of low emissions shipping. Our team advises on IMO2020 compliance as well as fleet optimization projects including use of abatement technologies (such as scrubbers) and ship conversions. We also advise on terms and conditions of specific charterparties and contractual liabilities regarding bunkering, insurance, sanctions and validity of MARPOL certificates.

We advise ship owners, charterers, traders and their insurers on a wide range of sanctions related topics and issues. Our lawyers are deeply involved in advising clients on Iran, Ukraine/ Russia and Venezuela-related sanctions in particular.

Marine insuranceProviding contentious and advisory services to all parties within the marine insurance business, we work with the many companies, syndicates, captives, brokers, surveyors and loss adjusters that form the London and overseas marine insurance markets. We have been leaders in this market since Clyde & Co was founded in 1933.

Shipbuilding and offshore constructionOur ability to act for both shipyards and owners throughout the building cycle gives us a unique insight into both sides of the equation. We offer a full spectrum shipbuilding and offshore service, including drafting and negotiation of shipbuilding contracts and all related contracts; funding and sanctions issues; and representing clients in arbitration and High Court litigation.

Cargo

We provide end to end cargo advice across the whole logistics chain. Commercial litigation, restructuring and insolvency Global clients demand global experience and capability which our team can offer on both contentious and non-contentious matters. Our experience includes representing ocean carriers, logistics companies, administrations and CVAs, receivership and liquidation, Insolvency Act claims, contract disputes, trading claims and fraud, directors’ duties and solvent and insolvent restructurings.
