WEEKLY LETTER - FUTURE MEMORY As a child I remember the Labor Day weekend as the last fling of summer before school began. It was during the last dog days of summer in 1960 when we loaded up the station wagon and headed for one of the nearby lakes with the Miller family. They had three kids about the same ages as my three older brothers. My father had recently bought a small inflatable sailboat that he was anxious to launch. I got elected to help Dad with the assembly process. The “Klepper” was a German made kayak, which not only featured traditional paddles, but also came equipped with a mast and sails. It seemed to take forever to assemble the ribs and lock them into place in the rubber hull. Then we spent the rest of the day trying to inflate the thing with the small bicycle pump my father scrounged from the garage. Ready for launch at last, my older brothers were summoned to carry the “Klepper” to water’s edge. Wearing my oversized orange lifejacket, I crawled in the front seat, while Dad took the aft position. Although this was my first experience with sailing, I was confident that my father could teach me what I needed to know. We shoved o1 just as my mother was reminding us that dinner would be ready soon and not to wander far o1 shore. There was a light breeze and just a few ripples on the water, so the “Klepper” glided silently along as we began to adjust the sails. I was amazed at how fast the boat seemed to move with so little wind, but the real attraction was being with my father. It was his interest and my trust in his skill that initiated me into a love for sailing that continues to this day. This is the kind of stu1 that sticks with us because it stems from some very special people in our lives. Since we can never really know when those moments might present themselves, have a blessed and happy Labor Day Weekend being open to creating some future memory with those whom we love the most. – Fr. CARTA SEMANAL - MEMORIA FUTURA Cuando era niño, recuerdo el fin de semana del Día del Trabajo como la última aventura del verano antes de que comenzaran las clases. Fue durante los últimos días caninos del verano de 1960 cuando cargamos la camioneta y nos dirigimos hacia uno de los lagos cercanos con la familia Miller. Tenían tres hijos de la misma edad que mis tres hermanos mayores. Mi padre había comprado recientemente un pequeño velero inflable que estaba ansioso por estrenar. Me eligieron para ayudar a papá con el proceso de armar. El "Klepper" era un kayak de fabricación alemana, que no solo presentaba remos tradicionales, sino que también venía equipado con un mástil y velas. Pareció llevar una eternidad el armar las costillas y bloquearlas en su lugar en el casco de goma. Luego pasamos el resto del día tratando de inflar la cosa con la pequeña bomba de bicicleta que mi padre consiguió en el garaje. ANNUAL SCHOOL AUCTION RETURNS IN-PERSON Each year volunteers, supporters and sta1 host an auction at St. Paul Catholic School. Proceeds from this treasured night help fund school needs. We are excited to return to an in-person event this year! Using an Oktoberfest theme, we have made some changes to allow more space to socialize, reduced the amount of time guests are seated at one time, and stepped up the level of fun. As has been true the last few years, bidding for silent auction items will be done online. We will also o1er Super Silent Items which are available for a shorter period of time. We’ve added Feierabend, a new “happy hour” option for guests to start their evening early. T-shirts will be available for purchase whether you attend the event or not. So don't miss your chance to show your Oktoberfest spirit! Plans are being made to provide as safe an environment as we can during this time. A new program format that includes live auction items will be utilized. Cleaning will be done during the event. Hand sanitizer will be available. Face coverings are recommended but optional. Other provisions will be made as appropriate. Here are a few ways you can start making a di1erence now:
1. Make your reservation to attend Oktoberfest. Don’t forget to add on your reservation for Feierabend! 2. Donate an item to the auction. Ideas include themed baskets, hard to find items, gift certificates for experiences and more. 3. Sponsor this year’s event to help underwrite costs. This allows every dollar raised at Oktoberfest to go directly to help with
school needs. 4. Volunteers are needed ahead of the event to set up, during the event in a variety of capacities, and to tear down the event.

Be watching for information on the items available for bidding, how to purchase a raZe ticket, and the Priest versus Principal Challenge. This year's auction is sure to be barrels of fun and provide many opportunities for you to make a di1erence for the students at St. Paul Catholic School!

Saint Teresa of Kolkata– Feast Day September 7 Raised in a deeply Catholic family in Albania, Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu joined the Sisters of Loreto in 1928 and took the name Teresa. The community sent her to Kolkata, India, where she taught children for two decades. In 1946 Teresa heard God’s call to quench the thirst of Jesus by caring for the poorest of the poor. She left the Sisters of Loreto to rescue the sick and destitute in the slums of Kolkata — one at a time. Many volunteers soon joined her and she formed them into her religious order, the Missionaries of Charity. Teresa’s manifest goodness and her unique media savvy attracted global attention, drawing many people to God. Many regard her as the greatest Catholic evangelist of the 20th century. She was beatified in 2003 and canonized in 2016.
God calls each one of us in di1erent ways. How has God called you to glorify Him?

MINISTERIOS DE ADULTOS, FAMILIA Y JUVENTUD Santa Teresa de Calcuta - Fiesta 7 de septiembre Criada en una familia profundamente católica en Albania, Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu se unió a las Hermanas de Loreto en 1928 y tomó el nombre de Teresa. La comunidad la envió a Kolkata, India, donde enseñó a niños durante dos décadas. En 1946 Teresa escuchó el llamado de Dios para saciar la sed de Jesús cuidando a los más pobres de los pobres. A PRAYER FOR REFUGEES God of our wandering ancestors, long have we known that your heart is with the refugee: That you were born into time In a family of refugees fleeing violence in their homeland, who then gathered up their hungry child and fled into alien country. Their cry, your cry, resounds through the ages: “Will you let me in?” Give us hearts that break open when our brothers and sisters turn to us with that same cry. Then surely all these things will follow: Ears will no longer turn deaf to their voices. Eyes will see a moment for grace instead of a threat. Tongues will not be silenced but will instead advocate, and hands will reach out, working for peace in their homeland, working for justice in the lands where they seek safe haven. Lord, protect all refugees in their travels. May they find a friend in me, and so make me worthy of the refuge I have found in you. AMEN
FAITH FORMATION
ONGOING CLERGY FORMATION Similar to what other professions call "continuing education", ongoing formation for priests is a continua-tion of the formation they received in the seminary. Focusing on the four pillars of formation (human, intellectual, spiritual, and pastoral), ongoing formation provides education and opportunities for continu-al growth and development for priests as they live this vocation. Human formation focuses on the physi-cal, mental, and emotional health and development of the priest. Intellectual formation focuses on the academic development of the priest. Spiritual formation focuses on the development of prayer and the spiritual life of the priest. Pastoral formation focuses on devel-oping the tools and skills necessary for priestly ministry in the current context. Ongoing formation for priests is necessary to sustain vibrant priestly ministry. Uniting in Heart supports ongoing formation by providing regular Priest Formation Days, organized by the Vicar for Clergy, where priests gather to learn, grow, and build fraternity with one another.
