Who was he?

Giovanni Pico della Mirandola (1463 - 1494) was an Italian Renaissance scholar and philosopher who lived in during the 15th century.

Where was he from?

Giovanni pico Della mirandola was Born on the 24th of february 1463 in Mirandola, Italy.

Who Was He Inspired By?

His work, Disputationes, was inspired by the arguments made against astrology by St. Augustine of Hippo. Furthermore, he was equally inspired by Plato, rather than Socrates.

What Did He Believe?

In Giovanni’s old age, he had devoted to the defence of Christianity, against the Jews, Astrologers, and the Mohammedans. He strongly rejected science.

What was he Remembered for?

He is known for being the best philosopher of the renaissance, his speech on the dignity of man is better known than any other philosophical text of the 15th century.

One of his written pieces, Oration on the Dignity of Man, commends humanity and their capabilities of reasoning which was in keeping with the principles of Humanism as it was all about the importance of man in a religious sense.
