Another group of 200 junkies col- lected from various parts of the city were transferred to the centre after the previous group was dis- charged, said Dr. Fida Moham- mad Paikan, deputy Public Health Minister . He told a ceremony at the 1000- bed hospital for addicts that about 100,000 people addicted to drugs existed in Kabul. Paikan said the 200 cured addicts were replaced by another 200 in- dividuals who had been gathered from beneath Pul-i-Soktha Bridge with the help of the ministries of counternarcotics and interior. Paikan warned of possible return of the treated patients to their old habit and also voiced concern about low cooperation of families. He said recently 11 members of addicts’ families were arrested for transferring drugs to the addicts under treatment.
