A man got on a train. He went into a compartment which was empty except for one woman. The woman took off her gloves.
Two hours later, the man was arrested by the police. They held him for 24 hours, and then, logically they were forced to set him free.

Would I lie to you?
• I was once rescued from a river by a group of canoeists.
• I once won the Baxter Memorial Prize.
• I have lived in four different countries.
Students are given time to prepare a topic.
They have to speak about the topic for three minutes.
They are allowed notes, but they should not read.
You have three minutes to create a story.
Each of you in turn must provide a sentence to continue the story before passing the bomb.
The person speaking when the bomb detonates …
Students sit back to back in pairs.
The student facing the front is shown a picture. S/he has to describe it to the other student, who draws the picture.
Students change over, and repeat the activity with a different picture.
