Getting Started with Open eVisionThis guide describes how to install Open eVision and activate licenses, how to use Open eVision tools to ease your own development, and how to deploy Open eVision on different platforms.

Step 1. Keep your Activation IDs Close at Hand

You received from Euresys Licensing (licensing@euresys.com) an email named Euresys Entitlement - ID:ent-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx. This email summarizes your entitlement, that is the information relative to your order and licenses. The attached fi le EntitlementCertifi cate.html contains your activation IDs.

Step 2. Find Open eVision Installation Files

Two installation packages are available and can be installed: Open eVision Libraries, a light package which contains all libraries, and

Open eVision License Manager. Open eVision Development Tools, which contains Open eVision Studio,

Open eVision Documentation, sample images, and Open eVision License Manager.

According to the product you purchased (see table below), download the installation files from http://license.euresys.com, or run them from the Open eVision CD.

Print your entitlement certi� cate. Keep carefully this information.

Step 3. Install Open eVision

Open eVision Libraries

To install Open eVision Libraries, double click the Open_eVision_Libraries_1_0_1_XXX.exe fi le.

Follow the on-screen instructions until complete installation.The default setup installs Open eVision Libraries and Open eVision License Manager, in the C:\Program Files\Euresys\Open eVision directory.Open eVision License Manager is automatically launched at the end of the setup.

Open eVision Development Tools

To install Open eVision Development Tools, double click the Open_eVi-sion_Development_Tools_1_0_1_XXX.exe fi le, and follow the instructions until complete installation.The default setup installs Open eVision Studio, Open eVision Documenta-tion, sample images and Open eVision License Manager, in the C:\Program Files\Euresys\Open eVision directory. Access them easily through the Euresys Open eVision shortcut created in the Windows start menu.Open eVision License Manager is automatically launched at the end of the setup.

Install your IDE� rst (Microsoft or Borland): it will be automatically detected and con� gured.

Make sure you have admin rights on your platform.Beware that existing Open eVision versions will be replaced by the one you are installing.To use command-line installation, see Open eVision Documentation.

Step 4. Activate Open eVision Licenses

Through the Open eVision License Manager interface, activate the pur-chased Open eVision license, with an online or an offl ine procedure.Click the help button to access the Open eVision License Manager Documentation. You will fi nd there complete assistance, especially about offl ine licenses activation.

Example: online activation of an Open eVision Full 1.0 license

Click the Activate Licenses button, and then the Online Activation button.

Enter your single activation ID for Open eVision Full (from your entitlement certificate), and click Next.Enter several activation IDs in the second fi eld. It is particularly useful to activate the SDK that is delivered with two activation IDs, one for Open eVision Full and one for Open eVision Studio.

Enter your personal information, and click Next.The wizard contacts the server and activates the license.

It’s easier to copy the activation ID (alpha-It’s easier to copy the activation ID (alpha-It’s easier to copy the activation ID (numeric string act-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx)xxxxxxxx)xxxxxxxx from the entitlement certi� -cate, and paste it when requested.

For the online activation, make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.

If the Open eVision License Manager does not run automatically after the installa-tion, access it through the Euresys Open eVision shortcut created in the Windows start menu.

Your Open eVision Full license is now activated. The package is ready to use.

Step 5. Find Help in the Open eVision Documentation

Access the Open eVision Documentation through the Windows start menu. Browse the electronic chm documentation, or print pdf files. Open eVision User Guide explains how to program with Open eVision,

basic types and concepts, gives concrete examples and code samples. References list and detail all C++, .NET and ActiveX classes, controls,

methods, properties, etc. Sample Programs demonstrate the functionalities of Open eVision.

Step 6. Install Open eVision Sample Programs

Up-to-date sample programs are available online, as zip files, specific for each IDE.Download them directly from the Open eVision Documentation > Sample Programs page. Follow the instructions to extract, build, and run the sample programs with your specific IDE.

Step 7. Speed up your Encoding with Open eVision Studio

Run Open eVision Studio through the Windows start menu. In a few clicks, generate vision code or modify sample programs, so that you can directly paste entire sample codes in your own IDE (C++ and VB 6.0 only).

Get familiar with Open eVision Studio by using the Training Assistant (Help > Assistant). Select a library and a tutorial. Follow the steps, and Open eVision Studio automatically writes the code.

Step 8. Deploy Open eVision

To deploy your developed application, you need to install the Open eVision Libraries light package. Euresys licensing system allows multiple activa-tions, according to your entitlement.For instance, if you want to deploy EasyImage on 200 computers, you can buy a single activation ID that lets you activate EasyImage on 200 different platforms.

Euresys licensing system is fl exible. If you need a further development on your on-site platform, buy, install and activate a license of Open eVision Studio, the Euresys prototyping tool. More details about deployment can be found in Open eVision License Manager Documentation.

All the libraries are available as individual licenses either Embedded or Portable. An Embedded License can be activated only once, and is fi xed to a unique PC, while a Portable license can be moved on another PC as many times as needed.
