What is Commerce Portal 1Commerce Portal is a cloud-based service that enables commerce for all VMware Cloud Provider Program (VCPP) partners across all program tracks - Rental, Managed Services Provider (MSP), Independent Software Vendor (ISV), and Professional Services.

Commerce Portal replaces iAsset Business Portal which is now deprecated.

A Service Provider is a VMware partner who enters into a Service Provider relationship with VMware through VCPP and gets access to consume VMware products on a pay-as-you-go, pay-as-you-grow monthly subscription model. Optionally, Service Providers can purchase VMware-hosted Cloud Services (called Managed Service Offerings) to become a Managed Services Provider (MSP).

An Aggregator is a partner who signs up for the VMware Cloud Provider Aggregator program. Aggregator partners facilitate a successful partnership with VMware by offering benefits, such as the opportunity to procure and distribute VMware Cloud Provider Program Product License points to Service Providers. This enables Service Providers to provide hosted IT Services. In addition, there is an option for Aggregator partners to receive orders and payments for Cloud Services from Service Providers who are Managed Services Providers.

VMware Cloud Provider Program billing and reportingAll Service Provider partners who participate in VCPP have their monthly billing processed in Commerce Portal. Service Providers use the service to get a consolidated view of their business with VMware and view, report, and submit their usage on a monthly basis to their Aggregator.

Once the monthly bills are processed and the invoicing is done, Service Providers get visibility of their consolidated bills across one or more contracts they have with VMware.

Service Providers can request adjustments as needed through their Aggregator. Optionally, Service Providers can also request and get access to additional software licenses through the one-off order process.

Aggregators use Commerce Portal to manage the contracts they have with Service Providers and to support the automated collection and processing of monthly billing orders.

How do I work with Commerce Portal 4Commerce Portal offers various functionalities and analytical tools to support your monthly reporting efforts. Depending on whether you use the platform as an Aggregator or a Service Provider, you have access to different functions in the Dashboard, Contracts, Monthly Reporting, Users, and Support menus. As an Aggregator, you additionally have access to the Deal Registration menu.

DashboardThe Dashboard menu provides you with information about your tasks, support tickets, active contracts, and recent activities.

As a Service Provider, you can find statistics about your usage consumption for the past 12 months.

As an Aggregator, you get information about the status of in-progress and current monthly billing orders (MBOs) of Service Providers that you manage. You also get ranked statistics about the usage consumption of Service Providers, and ranked statistics about the consumption of contract SKUs. The Alerts window shows items that require your attention, such as overdue MBOs, MBOs with abnormal usage, or contracts that expire soon.

ContractsThe Contracts menu hosts all functions and information related to your contracts. You can see the contracts that you have signed with information about their status, product families, contract SKUs, and their start and end dates.

As an Aggregator, you use the Contracts menu to create new contracts with Service Providers.

Clicking an individual contract expands its details page, giving you additional information about the contract and options for managing sites, automatic reporting, and one-off order requests.

To see all monthly billing orders spooled for that contract, click View MBO List

Monthly ReportingThe Monthly Reporting menu is where MBOs are located.

Clicking an MBO number takes you to the details page of that MBO.

As a Service Provider, this is where you raise adjustment requests on closed MBOs.

MBOs pending your action have a Go To Inbox button in their details page. To open the MBO in your task inbox and start preparing it for submission, click the Go To Inbox button.

UsersYou use Commerce Portal from the context of an organization. To manage user access to your organization, you use the Users menu, inviting users to your organization and assigning role-based permissions to them.
