Getting Smart About Metering An Essential Component of Energy and Water Management SEMINAR SERIES CIBSE ANZ 2017 You can’t manage what you don’t measure, but are we are measuring properly? Why is something so basic done so badly? We know that good metering is an essential component of high performing buildings (there is good reason why Green Star makes it a key feature), but time and again building owners and managers find that they can’t get meaningful information from their metering system. Common complaints include inability to verify energy models, incomplete or missing data, and data that simply does not make sense (e.g. sub meters recording higher consumption than parent meters). In this important seminar we have a fantastic range of speakers covering all aspects of metering. Tickets are limited, don’t miss this opportunity to hear from a fantastic range of speakers. David Palin of Mirvac will set the scene (Mirvac can boast the first commercial office building to get to 6 Stars NABERS Energy without Green Power).

This will be followed by presentations that look at metering issues and expectation from the building owners perspective with Chris Nunn, AMP; Russell Baillie, University of Auckland; Bruce Precious, GPT.

Hywel Davis is the Technical Director of CIBSE and he will take us through the new TM39 – a metering guide that is called up worldwide. (Attendees will be the very first to receive a copy of the new version).

Paul Banister and Caoimhin Ardren of Energy Action will follow this with a practitioners perspective – how TM 39 relates to NABERS, what does good metering design look like, and what are the key implementation issues?

The Green Building Council of Australia will then expand on recent changes to their tools, and how good metering fits in. Paul Dearlove of IBMS will then talk about the pointy end of metering – installation challenges, validation, commissioning and the trips and tricks of making it all work.

David Palin will close the event with a summary of key learnings and some final observations.
