On completion you will exit with the following:• a Diploma of Agriculture (AHC50110);

• an academic transcript for the completed academic courses (16) from the University of Queensland for the Academic Program in Agricultural Technologies; and

• a pathway towards university, subject to individual university entry requirements.

On completion of the program you will have: • a sound theoretical understanding of the

science of plant and animal production, and the impact of agricultural production on natural resources;

• skills in using agricultural technologies;

• an awareness of the current issues impacting upon agricultural production;

• an ability to become a rural professional and advisor; and

• the skills to continually improve knowledge and awareness of agricultural technologies through access to industry information networks.

Program outlineThe Integrated Diploma Program has been designed by the University of Queensland in consultation with Muresk Institute to address Western Australian industry needs. It is aligned to the AQF Level 5 criteria and meets the outcomes through an integrated delivery model of 16 academic courses and 10 vocational Diploma competencies delivered over four semesters in two years.

In the first year you will complete core subjects in: • Agricultural mechanisation;

• Agronomy;

• Animal husbandry;

• Rural business;

• Agriculture and biology;

• Soil and water science; and

• Communications.

In the second year you can choose from three specialisations: • Animal production;

• Plant protection; or

• Crop production.

Entry requirementsMinimum year 12 with five sound achievements including a science subject, mathematics and English, or a Certificate III in Agriculture or equivalent. Students may be given special consideration based on their experience, skills and knowledge.
