• Boom in textile industry since 1871 until WWI (Bocholt is still known for its former industry)

• 114 textile concerns in 1914• Today known for small/medium-sized

concerns which mainly produce maschines (e.g. Siemens, Spaleck, Grunewald-Group and many more)

• Nearly every citizen owns one or more bicycles

• „Cyclist-friedliest town of Germany“ in 2005, 2012 and 2013

• Especially in spring many people ride their bikes in groups in so called „Pättkestouren“
