* “GMP-grade” is a branding term NEB uses to describe reagents manufactured at NEB’s Rowley facility. The Rowley facility was designed to manufacture reagents under more rigorous infrastructure and process controls to achieve more stringent product specifications and customer requirements. Reagents manufactured at NEB’s Rowley facility are manufactured in compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality management system standards. However, at this time, NEB does not manufacture or sell products known as Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), nor does NEB manufacture its products in compliance with all of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations.

Our technical support model is unique as it utilizes most of the scientists at NEB. Several of our product lines have designated technical support scientists assigned to servicing customers in those application areas. Any product question could be dealt with by one of the technical support scientists, the product manager who is the scientist responsible for manufacturing the product, a product development scientist who helped develop the product, or by a researcher who uses the product in their daily research. As such, customers are supported by scientists and experts in the product or its application.

Believing it possible to conduct cutting-edge research and production in a greener, less environmentally impactful way, NEB is headquartered in a modern, LEED® certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), 140,000 square foot building.

Most prominent in our conservation efforts is our state-of-the-art Solar Aquatics System™. This system utilizes and accelerates the process found in streams and wetlands to treat the campus’ wastewater, making it clean enough to reuse for groundwater recharge. NEB established the first shipping box recycling program over 40 years ago, to divert polystyrene from landfills. In addition, our extensive in-house recycling program includes paper, plastics, expanded polystyrene, glass, aluminum, batteries and electronics.

In Germany and Austria, NEB switched in 2019 from “styrofoam” boxes to climate-neutral shippers made of recycled cardboard. The NEB Eco-Box utilizes pure and thermally treated straw or hemp fibers in food quality as insulation material. Over 30 labs participate in research projects, in areas that include epigenetics, glycobiology, RNA biology, genome editing, protein expression, and characterization of DNA and RNA polymerases, ligases and modifying enzymes.
