Rainer BaakeState Secretary, Federal Ministry for Economic, Affairs and Energy

Rainer Baake was appointed State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in January 2014. Born in Witten in 1955, he studied economics in Marburg, graduating as “Diplom-Volkswirt”. From 1985 - 1991, he served as First District Councillor for Marburg-Biedenkopf, before being appointed State Secretary at the Ministry for Environment, Energy and Federal Affairs of the state of Hesse. In 1998 he moved on to become State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. From 2006 - 2012 he was the Federal managing director of the NGO German Environmental Aid, and then worked as Executive

Director of the Think Tank Agora Energiewende before rejoining the government.

Kåre Fostervold State Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Energy

Kåre Fostervold assumed office as state secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy following the Norwegian parliamentary election of 2013. He has spent one term in the Norwegian Parliament as a member of the Standing Committee on Business and Industry, representing the Progress Party and his home county of Telemark. Mr. Fostervold has broad industrial experience holding a variety of positions. That inclu-des positions within the energy and petroleum sector.

Tor Eigil HodneHead of Brussels Office, Statnett SF

Tor Eigil Hodne is currently the Executive Vice President for European Affairs in Statnett. He holds a master degree in political science from the University of Oslo and the University of Århus, Denmark, and has worked extensively with research and internet policies, both in Norway and internationally. From 2000 to 2005 he worked for the European Commission in Luxembourg. From 2005 to 2010, Mr. Hodne was responsible for research, enterprise and innovation at the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) in Brussels. He started up the Statnett Brussels permanent representation in September 2010 and is currently heading this office. He is also a board

member of the Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI), responsible for policy formulation.

Øyvind Stakkeland Director Regulatory Affairs, Agder Energi AS

Øyvind Stakkeland holds a Master of Science degree from the Norwegian University of Technology and Science (NTNU) in Trondheim. Since he graduated in 1988 he has been working in consultancy and in the industry. In 1998 he started in the renewable energy business at the utility company Agder Energi. At Agder Energi Øyvind Stakkeland had different positions within business development, including wind and interconnector projects, and within regulatory work and strategy development.

Olav Johan BotnenSenior Analyst, Markedskraft ASA

Olav J. Botnen is a Senior Analyst at MKonline. He holds a Master of Science degree from the Norwegian University of Technology and Science (NTNU). He has been modelling the Nordic Electricity market since 1987 with SINTEF Energy Research, including the work with development of the EMPS model. In 1995 he joined Markedskraft, and has been instrumental in building up Markedskraft’s analysis business. Latest years he has been working full time with producing mid and long term price forecasts for the Nordic and the German power markets. He has also presented the forecasts on several conferences.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Konstantin LenzUniversity of Applied Sciences Erfurt, Country Manager Commodities Germany, NASDAQ

Konstantin Lenz is professor for energy economics at the University of Applied Sciences in Erfurt. He is also active as Country Manager Commodities Germany for NASDAQ OMX. He started in the liberalised energy markets at Electrabel. As head of the German analysis of the Norwegian Markedskraft group he built up the German operations and developed models and market analysis. Later on he took over the position of a director of portfolio management and trading at Kom-Solution. Afterwards he worked as independent consultant on different projects in the German power market focusing on long-term analysis, risk management and trading.

Jan Karl Karlsen Vice President, Head of Berlin Office, Statoil

Statoil has established a new Government Affairs office in Berlin, headed by Vice President Mr. Jan Karl Karlsen. He comes from a position as head of Government Affairs at the Statoil Washington DC office. Prior to his secondment to Washington DC he was responsible for the Statoil Corporate Strategy function. He has also been responsible for Statoil’s global trading and supply in crude oil and wet products and the portfolio of Statoil’s gas sales contracts to Europe.

Stefan-Jörg GöbelPortfolio Manager CWE, Markedskraft Deutschland GmbH

Stefan-Jörg Göbel is the Head of Trading & Origination for STATKRAFT in Continental Europe. Thus he is responsible for all wholesale activity in power and fuels. He is a Managing Director of Statkraft Markets GmbH, the group`s central trading entity for Continental Europe. His responsibility comprises proprietary and customer trading, cross-border arbitrage from the UK to Turkey and from Poland to Spain, trading servi-ces, complex cross-commodity off-take and purchase agreements and market access services for Renewables. He also oversees the German communication and public affairs activities.

Line Riise JensenSales Director Ecohz AS.

Line Riise Jensen joined ECOHZ and the renewable energy sector in 2008. She is respon-sible for sales, focusing on providing sustainable products based on Guarantees of Origin for renewable energy to large enterprises and electricity suppliers across Europe. She has broad international experience through various positions in sales, business development and project management within the telecom sector for more than ten years. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration from Norway, in addition to university studies abroad.

Dr. Christopher GreinerSenior Engineer, Nest AS

Christopher Greiner holds a Master of Science in Energy and Environmental Analysis and a Ph.D in Electric Power Engineering from the Norwegian University of Technology in Trondheim, Norway (NTNU). He started his career in the Research & Innovation Department at Det Norske Veritas (DNV-GL). Since 2002, he works as Senior Engineer & Project Manager for Nest As. Christopher Greiner is main author or co-author of nine peer-reviewed scientific articles.

Jo Morten SletnerCTO, eSmart Systems

Jo Morten Sletner has more than eighteen years of experience developing and delivering IT solutions to the energy industry. He participated in IT deliveries to physical and financial trading companies in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. Experience encompass duties for companies such as Brady Energy, Navita Systems, OMX Technology Energy Systems (now NASDAQ), Hand-El Skandinavia and Prediktor. He started with system design and development of optimization algorithms and risk measures for hydro, thermal and nuclear generation. He participated in many large trading software projects around the world, including customer as Norsk Hydro,

Statkraft, E.ON, EDF Trading, SMUD, Westpac, SEB, Mercuria and IMC Shipping.

Knut Eirik GustavsenPartner, Norwegian Centres of Expertise Smart Energy Markets, COO eSmart Systems

Knut Gustavsen is COO and Co-Founder of eSmart Systems in Norway. He holds a master degree in computer science from University of Bristol, and performed research and development with the OECD Halden Reactor Project at IFE. He was instrumental in both delivering the Power Exchange to California and Korea and as co-founder of a Scandinavian subsidiary in Silicon Valley, California. He has been successful in selling and delivering several large-scale software implementation projects worldwide with OMX and Tieto, and has strong entrepreneurial skills in both business development and organizational growth. Lately he has been founder and co-founder of two Smart Grid businesses in Norway.

Jørgen Festervoll is a partner at ADAPT, a consulting firm specializing in energy and climate related issues. As a trusted advisor for a range of Norwegian and international clients, he has provided advise on issues ranging from strategy and business develop-ment to M&A, due diligence processes and PPA negotiations as well as regulatory issu-es and market design. He has been lead consultant on several CCGT projects including CCS studies. He is also an expert on energy efficiency, smart grid, DM and distributed production. Mr. Festervoll is frequently used as a speaker and moderator.
