Mr. D. F. “Jack” Evans, 93, of Tifton, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at his residence. A private family graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Evans was born December 21, 1926 in Rebecca, Georgia to the late William Marvin Evans and Ruby Little Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Parker Evans to whom he was married for seventy years at her death January 4, 2018, two sisters, Hazel Smith and Jewell Hasty, four brothers, Cecil Evans, Floyd Evans, Othal Evans and Charles Evans and great grandson, Trey Scott. Mr. Evans was a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton. He was retired from Storer Cable TV. He had lived all of his adult life in Tifton. He became a Christian as a young man working with his brother at Evans’ Bar B Q, then joined Big Creek Baptist Church in Irwin County where he was active for many years. Mr. Evans began his career in television repair and sales and later co-owned Evans- Stone Electronics in Tifton. He was a pioneer in bringing cable T.V. technology to Tifton in the late 1960’s as manager of Storer Cable TV until his retirement in 1983. Mr. Jack enjoyed fellowshipping with people and was an avid gardener. He loved God, his family and was truly a student of the Bible. Mr. Evans was a product of the Great depression but he was determined to overcome the adversity. He made sure to take his family on a vacation every year. Mr. Jack was instrumental in his children growing up to appreciate nature and the God who created it. He loved most music, especially gospel. After his children were grown, he came to love his grandchildren and continued to take them on summer vacations. He adored his grandchildren and affectionately referred to them as

Mr. Curtis A. Harnage, 86, of Tifton, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Navicent Medical Center in Macon, Georgia. Due to the national emergency, a private family interment will be held in New Griffin Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County with Dr. Jeff Pangle officiating. Mr. Harnage was born October 16, 1933 in Lowndes County, Cat Creek Community, to the late Melton Harnage and Lucinda Walker Harnage. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Gray; five brothers, Buck Harnage, Troy Harnage, J.C. Harnage, Laverne Harnage and Pete Harnage. Mr. Harnage was a member of Waterloo Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a song leader. He loved his Lord and his church family. Mr. Harnage loved to sing gospel music and traveled all over the Tift and surrounding counties singing. He enjoyed traveling especially to the mountains. Mr. Curtis loved to fish both locally and at the flats. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Harnage is survived by his wife, Sara Nell Webb Harnage to whom he was married for sixty- two years; his daughter and son-in- law, Kathy and David Fitzgerald of Tifton; two sons, Keith Harnage of Columbus and Dana Harnage of Tifton; five grandchildren, Timothy and Heather Fitzgerald, Kayla and Duran Paulk, Saralyn Harnage, Becca and Andrew Renaue and Matt Price; seven great grandchildren, Micah Paulk, Kaylan Paulk, Chloe Fitzgerald, Hannah Paulk, Anleigh Dixon, David Renaue and Addy Renaue. Weldin and Rae Ariganello Weldin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and his adopted son, Frank Weldin. Mr. Weldin was co-owner of Turnex Plastics in Ashburn which sold raw plastics. He had lived in Tifton since the mid 1970’s. He was a member of the Tifton Lion’s Club for many years and held various offices. In his earlier years he was an avid golfer and managed

“junk”. He is best remembered in Tifton as a man of integrity and treated everyone with dignity. Mr. Evans is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Evans of Tifton and Kathy Evans of Ft. Worth, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Rick and Melanie Evans of Montgomery, Alabama; his grandchildren, Amy and Keith Hibbs, Michael and Nicole Evans and Heather and Patrick Spence; his great grandchildren, Evan Spence and Tristan Spence; two brothers and sister-in-law, Russell Evans of Chicago and Osal and Margaret Evans of Sylvania. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of Tift Area, Linda Gray’s Care Group and the continued ministry of First Baptist Church of Tifton. Mrs. Gladys Aurelia Lassiter Johnson, 91, of Tifton, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at her residence. A private interment will be held in Oak Ridge Cemetery. A memorial service for her family and friends will be announced at a later date. Mrs. Johnson was born May 30, 1928 in Smithfield, North Carolina to the late Shepherd Ransom Lassiter and Annie Barnes Lassiter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joseph C. Johnson, Jr., to whom she was married for sixty-one years at his death December 19, 2010, and her sister, Grace Lassiter Boyette. Mrs. Johnson was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Tifton where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a graduate of Meredith College, Campbell University and Valdosta State University. She was a retired teacher of Biology and Anatomy after more than thirty-five years. She taught at Tift County High School, Tiftarea Academy and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, painting and serving at her church. She loved to smile and do good things for other people. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Shepherd and Vivian Johnson of Douglas; her daughter and son-in- law, Phyllis and Bill Harrison of Friendship, Maine; her grandchildren, Audrey and Joel Ray Williams of Duncan, South Carolina and Andrew Shepherd and Ashley Johnson of Raleigh, North Carolina; great granddaughter, Maddox Rose Williams of Duncan, South

Carolina; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward S. and Mary Lassiter of Dunn, North Carolina and Phil O. and Linda Lassiter of Four Oaks, North Carolina and her nephew, David E. and Gail Massengill of Four Oaks, North Carolina who was like a brother to her. TIFTON - Toney Marcus Anderson, Jr., 44, of Tifton passed away Friday, March 20, 2020, at his residence, following a brief illness. A graveside funeral service was held for Toney at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he was laid to rest. The Rev. David Ray officiated and Allen Boyd gave a eulogy. Mark Strickland, Lamar Griffin, Charles Hill, Hank Mullis, Ken Hudson and David Bickley served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the employees of Shiver Diesel. Born June 17, 1975 in Tifton, Toney was the son of Tony Marcus Anderson, Sr. of Chula and the late Linda Dale Gibbs Giddens. He graduated from Tiftarea Academy in 1994, where he was a member of the 1992- 1993 State Champion Football Team and the 1992-1993 State Track Team. For 26 years, he worked as a diesel mechanic at Shiver Diesel in Tifton. He loved fishing at Keaton Beach; loved college football and was a diehard Ford fan and NHRA fan. In addition to his father, Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Gwen Ellis Anderson of Tifton; two sons, Draven Anderson and Dalton (Bridgette) Ellis, all of Tifton; two daughters, Amber R. Anderson and Dorian Anderson, both of Tifton; two sisters, Tara Little of Leesburg and Traci Strickland of Tifton; and three grandchildren, Ali Grace Anderson, Katie Beth Anderson and Jakob Anderson.
