These tend to be very bold and cluttered with bright colours and a variety of images it is very rare to see a gossip magazine with any empty or blank space.

There are usually lots of sell lines, it’s a mash up of a variety of other genres, cosmetic, fashion, health and beauty being a few of the main ones.

Page 3: Genres

These are much more stylised as they are selling an image, they are less cluttered have a big bold masthead and everything is relevant to fashion, how to get the look.

Here you can see the use of a set colour scheme and a higher standard of image as it has been taken in a studio professionally rather than it being a paparazzi photograph.

All about music, record labels, festivals and artist interviews are what you are going to find in here.

The image used on the cover tend to be very bold and is the main feature as on this magazine they have tailored the colour scheme to highlight the image especially with the small hints of blue it really draws her eyes out of the image and creates a strong connection, the images on music magazines are likely to have been taken professionally in a studio.

All for the creative home owner. It is bright and colourful and gives off a sense of happiness and accomplishment.

The images used reflect the magazine well and highlights to people what they can create in their own home and to find out how to they just need to read the magazine.

These magazines tend to be very simple focusing on the title and the beauty of the flowers that they wish to showcase and the sell line simply tells you what they are called, its full of tips and tricks for the budding gardener.

Very clear and precise. These magazines tend to be very bold as these are no jokey matters they are serious and are based solely on facts. The use the colour red highlights and reinforces the importance of it as this is what red symbolises.

Appeals to the foodie its clear and generally tries the capture the viewers attention from the use of bright colour and imagery. I myself and a couple of other people I know have agreed that many people only buy these magazines to make what they have shown on the front cover because it looks so good.

These normally tell you exactly what is going on in the world. It is clear and bold and doesn’t contain a lot of sell lines or bold graphic text you are drawn to the image especially in this issue those eyes are extremely powerful.

These magazines tend to be very bold and stylish as photography should be nothing other that bold and stylish this magazine gives tips and tricks mainly to the budding photographer that is hoping to make their images even better than they though it could be. It highlights all the latest gadgets and gizmos that you can buy to use when taking photos.

This is only 10 of the genres out there, you can find many more about almost everything. You can find these at most news agents for example WHSmiths, you can find them in local supermarkets such as Tesco and they are even available on the internet. Some magazines you can only view on-line which means they have a limited market for example if some one didn't have any internet connection they wouldn't be able to view the magazine. There are all kinds of magazines each of which having different target audiences, so from children aged 5+ have cartoon magazines, 13+ have Comics and some music magazines possibly gossip. Most people aged 16+ read the magazines such as gossip, music, fashion and maybe even photography. Most people 19+ could be getting more independent and start to read food magazines because they may be living by themselves or maybe studying at university and are looking for easy meals to cook. Then 21+ there are magazines like business, economy, DIY, gardening among all the others, there is a magazine out there for almost everything.
