HISTORY

Throughout the 1930’s thievery and scams were

present in such films as ‘Raffles’ and the unholy

garden. The classic film noir period of the 1940’s and

1950’s brought the genre to fame, by focusing more

explicitly on the heists themselves with such films

like John Huston’s ‘Asphalt Jungle’ and Stanley

Kubrick's ‘The Killing’.

The remakes of Ocean’s 11 (2001, as Oceans Eleven)

and the Italian Job 2003, show that the genre still has

a future in contemporary Hollywood.

DIRECTORS

Quentin Tarantino is an American film director, producer, screenwriter

and actor. Gaining numerous industry awards such as the Golden

Globe award and the BAFTA award and has also been nominated for

a Grammy award.

In January 1992 Tarantino's Reservoir dogs screened at the Sundance

film festival and was an immediate hit. Reservoir Dogs was a

dialogue-driven heist driven movie that inspired and set the tone for

his later films.

RitchieAn English screenwriter, film director and producer. Best known for

directing such films as ‘Lock Stock and two smoking barrels’, Snatch,

RocknRolla and Sherlock Holmes. His second feature film Snatch

was very successful in the box office and was listen on Rotten

Tomatoes as having 73% of the reviews as being ‘fresh’ (positive). But

Snatch was criticised to have a similar plot and theme to his previous

film Lock stock and two smoking barrels, causing critic; Robert Ebert

to give the film two out of four stars. However the film grossed a total

of £12,137,698 in the United Kingdom and $30,093,107 in the

United States.

Founded in April 30, 1912. An American motion picture

studio owned by Comcast, and one of the six major movie

studios. It is one of the longest-lived motion picture studios

to be located outside of Hollywood. Universal Pictures

creates and distributes theatrical and non-theatrical filmed

entertainment. They are the distributors of Tower Heist

2011 a crime comedy film directed by Brett Ratner and

written by Ted Griffin and Jeff Nathanson. Tower Heist

received an NAACP Image Award nomination, for

Founded in April 4, 1923. A fully integrated, American broad-

based entertainment company and a global leader in the

creation, production, distribution, licensing and marketing of all

forms of entertainment and their related businesses. It is

considered one of the foremost motion picture and television

home to 35 soundstages. Distributor of Ocean’s Thirteen (2007)

a crime comedy film that generated $311.4 million in box office

revenue worldwide.

opening weekend, the film grossed

Canada and $69,941,570 overseas—

(33.5%) in the United States and Canada

and a further $416,300,000 (66.5%)

elsewhere – a total of $626,137,675,

making it the seventh highest-grossing

film of 2011 worldwide. This amount

makes Fast Five the number 113 highest-

grossing film of all time in the domestic

market and the number 63 highest-

grossing film of all time worldwide, in

unadjusted dollars.
