ROCK GENRE CONVENTIONS

• I have chosen rock as I like that sort of music and that will influence the design of my future magazine.

• The connotations would be that this magazine will be violent and aggressive. The Denotation would be that the is the style of the music and what goes well with it.

• The masthead never changes on every single magazine. It is always white and has that shattered look to it. This makes you think that It is loud magazine to all other magazines and stands out more by “shattering the glass”. The image (top) is a medium shot as you see his shoulders and face and most of his chest. This is to show that people aren’t seeing the whole picture of the band and don’t understand them. He is making eye contact which shows he is looking right at the reader and involving them in the magazine. He is also shushing the reader to make his presence known and to show he is important. The subheading showing the bands name is written in etch-like font like he has done it himself. This shows that the band are true and are an individual from all other rival bands. The layout of the magazine is cluttered as this will attract the target audience by the magazine being a “mash up” which will appeal to the reader.
