What is a Genocide?

The deliberate extermination of a specific people because of their ethnicity, race, caste, religion, or nationality.

The term Genocide comes from the Greek prefix of genos (meaning race or people) and the Latin suffix of cide (which means to kill.)

History of Genocide

First used in 1944 in Axis Rule in Occupied Europe by Raphael Lemkin.
