TALK ABOUT THE BIBLE STORYTALK ABOUT THE BIBLE STORYDisplay Genesis 1:1 in your Bible. Guide children to
listen as you read aloud verse 1. Then tell the story.
• Long ago God made the world, also called the
earth, and everything in it.
• On the first day, God said, “Let there be light!”
The light appeared. God made light that became
the daytime.
• On the second day, God made the sky. On the
third day, God made dry land appear out of the
waters. He made all kinds of plants, grass, and
trees to cover the dry land.
• On the fourth day, God made the sun to shine in
the daytime sky and the moon and stars to shine
at night. On the fifth day, God filled the sky with
all kinds of birds. Then He filled the water with all
kinds of fish.
• On the sixth day, God filled the land with every
kind of animal. God made wild animals like lions
and tigers, livestock like cows and camels, and all
the creepy crawly insects. Finally God made His
most special creation of all. God made people.
God looked at everything He had made and said
it was good.

for His creation.
B. Get ready for bed. Gather blankets, books
about creation, and pillows. Talk about things
children do at bedtime like take a bath, brush

and pray. Guide boys and girls to pretend
to get ready for bed. Mention God made
the moon and stars on the fourth day. Say a
prayer, thanking God for His creation. Read
aloud the books.
C. Take a nature walk. Post an allergy alert sign,

D. Make paper plate spider webs. Guide each
child to use scissors to make slits around the
edges of the paper plate. Cut the edges for
younger children. Help children wrap yarn
back and forth across the plate so it looks like
a spider web. Allow children to be creative;
all plates will not look alike. Praise God for
creating spiders on the sixth day. Ask children
to name other animals God created on that
day.

MOVE TO GROUP TIMEMOVE TO GROUP TIMEWhisper the name of an animal in each child’s ear.
Tell the children to move to the group-time area by
pretending to be their assigned animals.
TALK ABOUT THE BIBLE STORYTALK ABOUT THE BIBLE STORYOpen your Bible to Genesis 6 and tell the Bible story.
• Noah was a good man who obeyed God. God
told Noah there would be a flood over the earth.
God told Noah to build an ark to protect his
family and many animals.
• God told Noah exactly how to build the ark
and how big to make it. He built it from cypress
wood and put sticky tar on the outside to keep
the water out. He built rooms and stalls inside
on three floors. He put a roof and a window on
the top floor and a door on the side, just as God
described.
• Noah gathered and stored food in the ark. God
sent every kind of animal to the ark. Then God
told Noah to take his family into the ark. When
the animals and people were inside, God shut
the door.
• Rain began to fall. It rained for 40 days. Water
covered the tops of the mountains.
• The rain finally stopped. God sent a wind, and
the water began to go down. When it was dry,
God told Noah to come out of the ark. Noah, his
family, and all of the animals left the ark.

SING TOGETHERSING TOGETHERTo the tune of “London Bridge,” sing:
God takes care of all of us,
All of us, all of us.
God takes care of all of us.
God loves people.
SAY THE LIFE VERSESAY THE LIFE VERSEOpen the Bible and read aloud the Life Verse.
Repeat the verse aloud with the children. Comment
that because Noah did what was right, God saved
him and his family from the flood. Say that God
cared for Noah. Tell the children to say “God cares
for us” after each statement you say. Make the
following statements about basic needs: “We have
food to eat. We have families. We have clothes to
wear. We have places to live.”
PRAYPRAYPray together, thanking God for loving and taking
care of us.
BIBLE-LEARNING ACTIVITIESBIBLE-LEARNING ACTIVITIESEmphasize during the activities: God shows
people what to do.
A. Make tear art pictures. Provide heavyweight
white paper, a variety of colored construction
paper scraps, pencils, paintbrushes, and
cups of watered-down glue. Encourage the
children to draw arks and animals on their
papers. Show them how to tear and glue
paper scraps for the wood and animal skins.
Comment that God showed Noah what Noah
was to do. Say that Noah did what was good
and that God cared for Noah. God cares for us.
B. Enjoy puzzles and books about animals.
Provide several animal puzzles and books
about animals. As the children work the
puzzles and read the books, tell the Bible
story. Remind the children that God cared
for Noah. God showed Noah what to do. God
shows us what to do.
C. Experiment with water. Fill a container 1/4 to
1/2 full of water. Place the container on a plastic
drop cloth on the floor. Set a variety of items
next to the container (wooden block, marker,
bead, shell, rock, etc.). Children will determine
whether each object floats or sinks. Comment
that the ark floated on the water for many
days but God took care of Noah, his family,
and the animals.
D. Make paper plate boats. Set out paper
plates, tape, scissors, and family figures. Show
how to fold a paper plate in half and tape it
along the edges. Cut along the top to make a
canoe shape. Use blocks to make a river. The
