Generic Instructors Course (GIC) Summary The ALSG GIC course in collaboration with Immediate Care Training (Ireland) will provide the candidate with the core principles of adult learning, including: • The nature of teaching & learning • The needs of learners • The variation between learners • The understanding of the 4-domains of learning • The components of all teaching sessions Eligibility Only candidates recommended for Instructor Training from a provider course can attend. e GIC Discussions • Adult learning • Feedback • Lectures • Skills Teaching • Simulation • Assessment Practical sessions • Lecture & presentation skills • Equipment familiarization • Skills teaching with continuous assesment • Teaching simulations • Facilitating groups • Simulation assessment Assessment On the GIC you will be assessed through a mix of continuous assessment. Certification Once you have successfully completed the GIC you are required to teach on 2 provider courses as an instructor candidate (IC), you are then signed off as a full ALSG |/ICTI Instructor.
To keep your instructor status valid, you should aim to teach on 3-courses over a 2-year period.
