E-Learning Effectiveness:

The assessment committee wanted to revise an older module on basic Word skills. New assessments have fewer questions (usually less than ten). All secretaries are required to pass, and compliance is part of their annual review.

Outcomes:• Most feedback from the audience was positive, reinforcing core skills andmany learned more effective ways to accomplish daily tasks.

• Prep sessions were used as vehicles for additional teachable moments.• Assessments force our development team to fine-tune our documentationto match the desired mastery of skills.

E-Learning Effectiveness:

This was our first foray into a more creative approach to delivering information. Our users really liked it. Some of the nerdier ones especially liked the X Files theme. If I can explain that XML = Extensible Markup Language and you think it’s entertaining enough to comment, then that’s a win. We received several comments from attorneys that it was exactly the information they needed in an entertaining format. That to me equals complete effectiveness in the law firm environment

E-Learning Objectives:This E-Learning module served as an introduction to the concept of E-learning to our attorneys and staff. The module introduces Jennifer (our virtual trainer), as she takes our users on a tour of Room Service, the firm’s e-learning platform. She educates the users on what they should expect when using any of the firm’s eLearning courses as well as providing detail on how to access the modules, etc. We prefaced this module by sending a set of ear buds to everyone, attached to a gift card from “Jennifer”. The module and the virtual trainer were a big hit.

E-Learning Effectiveness:

The module was not only very effective but also proved to be a great success. Our goal was to introduce the concept of e-learning to our users in a fun, non-threatening way. The avatar, Jennifer, has become a part of the Sheppard Mullin training family, and has also been a featured “speaker” at our Partner’s meeting and retreat. Even when our users are not particularly excited about new training, they look forward to seeing p y g, y gJennifer and having her introduce the lessons.

While the attached slides represent the e-learning module itself, we are most excited about Jennifer’s introduction which more effectively shows the use of the avatar. Jennifer serves as the trainer whose voice is featured in the Captivate lessons which follow. Since we have a number attorneys and staff who are relatively new to virtual training, it was important that we set the stage for future learning in an innovative and inspiring way.

This training was delivered to users prior to receiving their new desktop. It was mandatory that everyone take it. After they received their new desktop, legal staff was provided with opportunities to take additional instructor led training. In addition, we provided end users with additional e-learning modules on the entire MS Office Suite. They could take the these modules before or after receiving their new desktop

Overall, we found that by providing them with just in time training to get them started was effective . When they went into instructor led training, we are able to focus on the detailed training of the new features of the applications. We did provide the users other tools such as Microsoft’s Interactive Guide to assist them in locating features.

We received excellent feedback from all levels of employees but especially the attorney’s liked the ability to take training when they wanted to.
