GEM Hospital organizes the silver jubilee IASG Conference & 1st International summit for pancreas cancer surgery

Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterologists (IASG) conducted its silver jubilee annual national conference here at Codissia Trade Fair Complex, Coimbatore on 6 to 9 October 2016 organized by GEM Hospital & Research Centre, Coimbatore About 1500 surgeons from India and abroad are participating in this conference which was held in Coimbatore for the first time. Indian Association is the premier organisation which is formed to impart quality education among the surgeons in the field of Gastro Surgery.This 4 day programme includes liver surgeries, international summit and updates on cancer treatment of the gastrointestinal tract which is the main theme of the conference. On 6th October, various laparoscopic cancer surgeries will be telecast live from GEM Hospital to the venue in the latest 4K and 3D format. The second day

of the conference will have international updates on various gastro related cancers. On the same day, 1st International summit on laparoscopic pancreatic surgeries will also be conducted where 35 world leaders in this specialty will be deliberating about the standard of care for pancreatic cancer. The proposed meet has also planned to bring out position statement based on the present literature evidence on laparoscopic pancreatic resections, according to the congress President Dr. C. Palanivelu.

The Second Asia Pacific expert committee on laparoscopic liver resection will be held on 8th October at the same Venue. Dr. P. Senthilnathan, Liver Surgeon from GEM Hospital who is also the committee member representing India in this forum has said the main aim of this meet is to Popularize laparoscopic liver surgeries in Asia Pacific regions. The last two days will have various programmes including seminars, key note lectures and symposiums by national and internation-al faculty. About 380 research articles in this speciality are to be presented during the conference. Dr. P. Senthilnathan and Dr. S. Rajapandian, Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologists are organizing Secretaries of this conference while the surgical workshop will be conduct under the chairmanship of Dr. R. Parthasarathi.

EMBOLIZATION OF THE LEFT GASTRIC ARTERY FOR PSEUDOANEURYSMA male patient age 25years was admitted with ACUTE PANCREATITIS developed pseudocyst around the Left gastric artery later on after few days developed pseudo aneurysm of the left gastric artery.Pseudo aneurysm can be fatal when they rupture and bleed intraabdominally. This pseudo aneurysm was embolized placing coils in the left gastric artery obstructing the neck of the aneurysm. Selective Check angiogram of left gastric artery showed no filling of the aneurysm.This procedure is done by puncturing right femoral artery and intra vascular catheterization running upto the coeliac artery through the right iliac fossa and aorta. Then selective cannulation of left gastric artery and placing coils at the neck of aneurysm, obliterating neck of the aneurysm.
