GEAR INSPECTION USING ADVANCED EDDY CURRENT ARRAY AND EMCD TECHNIQUES
This technique detects 100% of all gear tooth surface indications, providing comprehensive data, and has the ability to size indications accurately.
The remarkable advantages of ECA technology, is improved inspection capabilities and significant time-savings. The advantage of using EMCD is its ability to size indications accurately.
This technique does not require the gear teeth to be wiped down by hand after cleaning, as in Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant or Ultrasonic Inspections.
The whole flank and root of the tooth can be scanned in one single pass. With 2 and 3D dimensional isometric displays, the defect can be seen electronically as it is on the gear tooth surface, thus, reducing the reliance on human interpretation.
The knowledge of the defect type helps in determining the root causes and the potential solutions. This results in a higher standard of inspection.
Provides real-time mapping of the inspected region, facilitating data interpretation. Improves reliability and probability of detection (POD).
This technique will inspect one gear tooth per 30 seconds. All of the data can be archived for future comparisons. An electronic report is generated.
All of this provides for faster inspections, improved auditability, resulting in increased production.
