GCT Post Covid-19 ‘Return-to-Play’ Guidelines

Following Governor DeSantis' announcement on May 22, 2020, that all youth activities may resume immediately, our governing state sports authority, Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA), authorized that all soccer activities may resume on Monday, May 25, 2020, assuming compliance with all local government guidelines and restrictions. GCT plans to follow the attached FYSA guidelines on return to play and will take the following specific steps to implement a safe return:

• Guidelines for Coaches: o Follow practice format (number of players total in group, individual or contact

allowed, etc) as recommended by FYSA. o Discuss distancing and safety measures during activity and breaks with team. o Discuss distance of players/equipment on benches with team. o Emphasize No hand contact, high-fives, shaking, etc. o Disinfect balls and equipment before and after practices.

• Guidelines for Players o Stay home if you are not feeling well or have symptoms. o Clean your ball/cleats/etc. before and after practice/games. o Bring hand sanitizer/wipes to use before/during/after practice/games. o Only bring ball and water bottle to fields, leave backpack and other non-essential

equipment at home or in car. o Follow CDC Guidelines regarding best practice to avoid exposure of any virus.

• Guidelines for Parents/Fans

o Only coaches, managers and players are allowed on the field during practice/training. All others are to adhere to CDC Guidelines regarding social distancing in the parking lot or while exercising around the park.

o Coordinate drop-off and pick up closely with Manager/Coach to limit interaction with other players entering/exiting.

o Do not bring team snacks or drinks. o Bring hand sanitizer for your player.

• Added measures at Concession stand

o Markers delineating where customers can stand awaiting service and food. o Additional cleaning measures per CDC and County guidance. o Hand sanitizer available.

• Added measures at Restroom

o Signs and tape with guidance for use/space of restroom at sinks/etc. o cleaning and stocking to include adequate soap supply, daily or nightly trash

removal and cleaning. Implementation by GCT:

• Communication of Guidelines to parents/players o Guidelines will be emailed to all player/parents registered in each program. o Ensure FYSA Waivers are signed by all players prior to getting back on field. o Organize activity fields/times to ensure 15 min spacing between events. o Updates to guidelines will be sent out to all players/parents.

• Monitoring and Follow-up

o Coaches/Team Managers/Commissioners/DOC/Club Manager will monitor activity at the park to ensure everyone is aware of Guidelines.

o If a player gets sick – notify Club staff immediately and follow required quarantine procedures. Doctor’s note required before returning.

Follow all Return to Play Protocols.Inquire how athletes are feeling. If theyare not feeling well, send them home.Ensure all athletes have their individualequipment (ball, water, shin guards, etc.).Coach is the only person toplace/pickup/touch cones, discs, ortraining equipment.Ensure drills/exercises provide foradequate social distancing.Ensure that training vests/pinnies aredisinfected after each use.Respect players, parents, and families byaccommodating those that may not yetbe comfortable with returning. Gloves and masks are recommended forcoaches.

If you are not comfortable with returningto play, DON'T.Adhere to all Return to Play Protocols.Wash hands thoroughly before and aftertraining.Wash & sanitize training equipment afterevery training.Do not share water, food, or equipment.Respect and practice social distancing.Place equipment, bags, etc. at least 6feet apart.No high fives, handshakes, knuckles, orgroup celebrations.Gloves and masks are allowed forplayers but are not required

If you are not comfortable with returningto play, DON'T. You are the only one whowill make the decision when your childreturns to play.Check child's temperature before comingto any training session.Ensure child's clothing is washed afterevery training session.Ensure all equipment are sanitizedbefore and after every training.Notify club/coach immediately if yourchild becomes ill for any reason.Supply your child with individual sanitizerand plenty of water.Adhere to social distancing guidelines.Gloves and masks are recommended forparents.
