ReproductionReproduction

Gestation is150 to 203 days

One gazelle is born at a time.

The mother typically cares for the young unless the male decides to

stay with the family.

Most young stay with their parents for one year, but some stay with

their parents/parents for the rest of their lives

HabitatHabitat

Live in parts of central Algeria to parts of Egypt. The climate is

hot and dry. They live in the desert, open bush land, and

sometimes they live in rocky areas.

Terrestrial.

Males can be territorial, defending their established area.

Nomads, they travel continuously and usually don’t nest in one

specific area.

Unfortunately, there are not many of them are left in the wild

making them an endangered species.

Interesting FactsInteresting Facts

There are less then 2500 left in the wild due to poaching.

Since the temperature is very hot and dry during the day,

the slender horned gazelle comes out at night to eat and

drink

Behavioral Adaptations and how they aid survival

Behavioral Adaptations and how they aid survival

1. Feeds at night: It doesn't have to feed in the extreme heat during the day.

2. Males battle fiercely: They defend the territories they establish.

3. Strongly Nomadic: Finds extra food

4. Require little water: Drink dew and get moisture by eating plants.

5. Care for young: They can nurse and protect their babies from predators, to help the

young stay alive and live healthy.

Physical Adaptations Part 2

Physical Adaptations Part 2

• Muscles: To help them run fast away from predators

• Thin Fur: to maintain body temperature.

• Short Tail: Predators cannot grab it.

• Long Legs: To help the Slender Horned Gazelle run faster

and take faster strides.

7 features I would include in the Slender Horned Gazelles habitat7 features I would include in the Slender Horned Gazelles habitat

• Desert Environment: Maintain Body Temperature

• Shrubs and Bushes: To help them make their

home

• Lots of room: They are nomadic, and are used to

having lots of room to find food.

• Infrequent Water: They don’t need much because

in their native desert environment, water was

scarce.

7 features I would include in the Slender Horned Gazelles habitat

7 features I would include in the Slender Horned Gazelles habitat

• Make the environment Warm: The Slender

Horned Gazelle has thin fur which cannot

withstand the cold. Also, the desert in Africa is

sweltering hot and the weather in Cleveland in

cold.

• The color of their fur should mostly be the color

of the habitat: This is necessary because the

Slender Horned Gazelle naturally blends in in its

native desert habitat

• Some Grassy Areas: Slender Horned Gazelles

eat grass to survive. Some grass is also found in

their natural habitat.
