WARNING: When using the unit, you must follow the safetyrules. Please read these instructions before operating the unit inorder to ensure the safety of the operator and any bystanders.Please keep these instructions for later use.
• Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the controls and properuse of the unit.
• Do not operate this unit when tired, ill, or under the influence of alcohol,drugs, or medication.
• Children and teens under the age of 15 must not use the unit, except forteens guided by an adult.
• All guards and safety attachments must be installed properly beforeoperating the unit.
• Inspect the unit before use. Replace damaged parts. Check for fuel leaks.Make sure all fasteners are in place and secure. Replace parts that arecracked, chipped, or damaged in any way. Do not operate the unit withloose or damaged parts.
• Carefully inspect the area before starting the unit. Remove all debris andhard or sharp objects such as glass, wire, etc.
• Be aware of the risk of injury to the head, hands and feet.
• Clear the area of children, bystanders, and pets. At a minimum, keep allchildren, bystanders, and pets outside a 50 feet (15 m) radius; there stillmay be a risk to bystanders from thrown objects. Bystanders should beencouraged to wear eye protection. If you are approached, stop the unitimmediately.
• Use only Craftsman XTRA QUIET TM 0.095 inch (2.413 mm) diameter originalequipment manufacturer replacement line. Never use metal-reinforced line,wire or rope. These can break off and become dangerous projectiles.
• Squeeze the throttle control and check that it returns automatically to theidle position. Make all adjustments or repairs before using unit.
SAFETY WARNINGS FOR GAS UNITS

• Store fuel only in containers specifically designed and approved for thestorage of such materials.
• Always stop the engine and allow it to cool before filling the fuel tank.Never remove the fuel tank cap or add fuel when the engine is hot. Alwaysloosen the fuel tank cap slowly to relieve any pressure in the tank beforefueling. Do not smoke.
• Always add fuel in a clean, well-ventilated outdoor area where there areno sparks or flames. Do not smoke.
• Never operate the unit without the fuel cap securely in place.• Avoid creating a source of ignition for spilled fuel. Wipe up any spilled fuel
from the unit immediately before starting the engine. Move the unit atleast 30 feet (9.1 m) from the fueling source and site before starting theengine. Do not smoke.
• Never start or run the unit inside a closed room or building. Breathing exhaustfumes can kill. Only operate this unit in a well-ventilated outdoor area.
WHILE OPERATING
• Wear safety glasses or goggles that meet ANSI Z87.1-1989 standardsand are marked as such. Wear ear/hearing protection when operating thisunit. Wear a face or dust mask if the operation is dusty.
• Wear heavy long pants, boots, gloves and a long sleeve shirt. Do not wearloose clothing, jewelry, short pants, sandals or go barefoot. Secure hairabove shoulder level.
• The cutting attachment shield must always be in place while operating theunit as a trimmer. Do not operate unit without both trimming linesextended, and the proper line installed. Do not extend the trimming linebeyond the length of the shield.
• This unit has a clutch. The cutting attachment remains stationary whenthe engine is idling. If it does not, have the unit adjusted by an authorizedservice technician.
• Adjust the handle to your size in order to provide the best grip.
• Be sure the cutting attachment is not in contact with anything beforestarting the unit.
• Use the unit only in daylight or good artificial light.
• Avoid accidental starting. Be in the starting position whenever pulling thestarter rope. The operator and unit must be in a stable position whilestarting. Refer to Starting/Stopping Instructions.
• Use the right tool. Only use this tool for its intended purpose.
• Do not overreach. Always keep proper footing and balance.
• Always hold the unit with both hands when operating. Keep a firm grip onboth handles or grips.
• Keep hands, face, and feet at a distance from all moving parts. Do nottouch or try to stop the cutting attachment when it rotates.
• Do not touch the engine, gear housing or muffler. These parts getextremely hot from operation, even after the unit is turned off.
• Do not operate the engine faster than the speed needed to cut, trim oredge. Do not run the engine at high speed when not cutting.
• Always stop the engine when cutting is delayed or when walking from onecutting location to another.
• If you strike or become entangled with a foreign object, stop the engineimmediately and check for damage. Do not operate before repairingdamage. Do not operate the unit with loose or damaged parts.
• Stop the unit, switch the engine to off, and disconnect the spark plug formaintenance or repair.
• Use only replacement parts or accessories recommended for this tool thatare distributed by Sears or a Craftsman outlet. Use of any replacementparts or accessories purchased elsewhere may be hazardous, and willalso void your warranty.
• Keep unit clean of vegetation and other materials. They may becomelodged between the cutting attachment and shield.
• To reduce fire hazard, replace a faulty muffler and spark arrestor. Keepthe engine and muffler free from grass, leaves, excessive grease orcarbon build up.
OTHER SAFETY WARNINGS
• Never store the unit with fuel in the tank, inside a building where fumesmay reach an open flame (pilot lights, etc.) or sparks (switches, electricalmotors, etc.).
• Allow the engine to cool before storing or transporting. Be sure to securethe unit while transporting.
• Store the unit in a dry area, locked up or up high to prevent unauthorizeduse or damage, out of the reach of children.
• Never douse or squirt the unit with water or any other liquid. Keep handlesdry, clean and free from debris. Clean after each use, see Cleaning andStorage instructions.
• Keep these instructions. Refer to them often and use them to instruct otherusers. If you loan someone this unit, also loan them these instructions.

ADJUSTING THE D-HANDLE
1. Loosen the screws on the D-handle (Fig. 1).
2. While holding the unit in the operating position (Fig.9), position the D-handleto the location that provides the best grip.
3. Tighten the clamp screws evenly, until the D-handle is secure.

WARNING: OVERFILLING THE OIL CRANKCASE MAY CAUSESERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY. Check and maintain the proper oillevel in the crank case; it is important and cannot beoveremphasized. Check the oil before each use and change it asneeded. See Changing the Oil.
RECOMMENDED OIL TYPE
Using the proper type and weight of oil in the crankcase is extremely important.Check the oil before each use and change the oil regularly. Failure to use thecorrect oil, or using dirty oil, can cause premature engine wear and failure.
Use a high-quality SAE 30 weight oil of API (American Petroleum Institute)service class SF, SG, SH.
ADDING OIL TO CRANKCASE: INITIAL USE
NOTE: This unit is shipped without oil. Inorder to avoid damage to the unit,put oil in the crankcase before youattempt to start the unit.
Your unit is supplied with one 3.04 fluid oz. (90ml.) bottle of SAE 30 SF, SG, SH oil (Fig. 3).NOTE: Save the empty oil bottle. It can
be used to measure the correctamount during future oil changes.See Changing the Oil.
1. Unscrew the top of the bottle of oil andremove the paper seal covering theopening. Replace the top. Next, cutthe tip off the funnel spout (Fig. 2).
2. Tip unit so that the back of the engineis facing up in a vertical position.
3. Remove the oil fill plug from thecrankcase (Fig. 3).
4. Pour the entire bottle of oil into theoil fill hole (Fig. 4).
NOTE: Never add oil to the fuel or fueltank.
5. Wipe up any oil that may have \\spilled and reinstall the oil fill plug. ___
Check oil before each use and change as ._needed. Refer to Checking the Oil Level.
RECOMMENDED FUEL TYPEOld fuel is the primary reason for improper \unit performance. Be sure to use fresh,clean, unleaded gasoline. Dispose of theold gasoline in accordance to federal, '_state and local regulations.
NOTE: This is a four cycle engine. Inorder to avoid damage to theunit, do not mix oil with gasoline.

Today's fuels are often a blend of gasoline and oxygenates such as ethanol,methanol or MTBE (ether). Alcohol-blended fuel absorbs water. As little as1% water in the fuel can form acids when stored. Use fresh fuel (less than60 days old), when using alcohol-blended fuel.Using Blended Fuels
If you choose to use a blended fuel, or its use is unavoidable, followrecommended precautions:
• Always use fresh unleaded gasoline
• Use a gas stabilizer fuel additive• Drain tank and run the engine dry before storing unit
Using Fuel Additives
The use of a gas stabilizer will inhibit corrosion and minimize the formationof gum deposits. Using a fuel additive can keep fuel from forming harmfuldeposits in the carburetor for up to six (6) months. Add 0.8 oz. (23 ml.) offuel additive per gallon of fuel according to the instructions on the fueladditive container. NEVER add fuel additives directly to the unit's gas tank.
FUELING THE UNIT
i IWARNING: Add fuel in a clean, well ventilated outdoor area. Wipe I_1 up any spilled fuel immediately. Avoid creating a source of ignition for II spilt fuel. Do not start the engine until fuel vapors dissipate.
I ^ IWARNING: Gasoline is extremely flammable, ignited vaporsi may explode. Always stop the engine and allow it to cool beforei filling the fuel tank. Do not smoke while filling the tank. Keepi sparks and open flames at a distance from the area.

1. Remove the fuel cap (Fig. 5).2. Place the gas container's spout into the fill hole on the fuel tank (Fig. 5)
and fill the tank.
NOTE: Do not overfill the tank.
3. Wipe up any gasoline that may have spilled.
4. Reinstall the fuel cap.
5. Move the unit at least 30 ft. (9.1 m) from the fueling source and sitebefore starting the engine.

WARNING: Operate this unit only in a well-ventilated outdoor area.
Carbon monoxide exhaust fumes can be lethal in a confined area.
WARNING: Avoid accidental starting. Make sure you are in thestarting position when pulling the starter rope (Fig. 7). To avoidserious injury, the operator and unit must be in a stable positionwhile starting.
STARTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Check the oil level in the crankcase. Refer to Checking the Oil Level.2. Fill the fuel tank with fresh, clean unleaded gasoline. Refer to Fuefing
the Unit.
NOTE: There is no need to turn the unit on. The On/Off Stop Control is inthe ON (I) position at all times (Fig. 8).
3. Fully press and release the primer bulb 10 times, slowly. Some amountof fuel should be visible in the primer bulb (Fig. 6). If fuel cannot beseen in the bulb, press and release the bulb until fuel is visible.
4. Move the choke lever to Position 1 (Fig. 6).
5. Crouch in the starting position (Fig. 7). SQUEEZE and HOLD thethrottle control for ALL further steps. Pull the starter rope in acontrolled motion 5 times.
NOTE: The unit uses the Incredi-Pull TM starting system with MAX FIREIGNITION TM, which significantly reduces the effort required to startthe engine. You must pull the starter rope out far enough to hearthe engine attempt to start. There is no need to pull the ropebriskly-- there is no harsh resistance when pulling. Be aware thatthis starting method is vastly different from (and much easier than)what you may be used to.
6. Continue to squeeze the throttle control. Move the choke lever toPosition 2 (Fig. 6).
7. Continue to squeeze the throttle control. Pull the starter rope in acontrolled motion 3-5 times to start the engine.
8. Continue to squeeze the throttle control. Allow the engine to warmup for 30-60 seconds.
9. Continue to squeeze the throttle control. Move the choke lever toPosition 3 (Fig. 6).
10. Continue to squeeze the throttle control. Run the unit for anadditional 60 seconds to complete the warm-up. The unit may be usedduring this step.
IF... The engine does not start, go back to step 3.
IF... The engine fails to start after a few attempts, move the choke leverto Position 3 and squeeze the throttle control. Pull the starter rope ina controlled motion 3-8 times. The engine should start. If not, repeat.
IF WARM... If the engine is already warm, start the unit with the choker lever inPosition 2. After the unit starts, move the choker lever to Position 3.
STOPPING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Release your hand from the throttle control. Allow the engine to cooldown by idling.
2. Press and hold the On/Off Stop Control in the OFF (O) position untilengine comes to a complete stop (Fig. 8).

HOLDING THE TRIMMER
Before operating the unit, stand in the operatingposition (Fig. 9). Check for the following:• The operator is wearing eye protection and
proper clothing
• With a slightly-bent right arm, the operator'sright hand is holding the shaft grip
• The operator's left arm is straight, the left handholding the handle
• The unit is at waist level
• The cutting attachment is parallel to the groundand easily contacts the grass without the needto bend over

TIPS FOR BEST TRIMMING RESULTS
• For best trimming results, operate unit with throttle control fully squeezed.
• Keep the cutting attachment parallel to the ground.• Do not force the cutting attachment. Allow the tip of the line to do the
cutting, especially along wails. Cutting with more than the tip will reducecutting efficiency and may overload the engine.
• Cut grass over 8 inches (200 ram) by working from top to bottom in smallincrements to avoid premature line wear or engine drag.
• Cut from right to left.
• Slowly move the trimmer into and out of the cutting area at the desiredheight. Move either in a forward-backward or side-to-side motion. Cuttingshorter lengths produces the best results.
• Trim only when grass and weeds are dry.
• The life of your cutting line is dependent upon:
- Proper adherence of explained trimming techniques
- What vegetation is cut- Where vegetation is cut
For example, the line will wear faster when trimming against a foundationwall as opposed to trimming around a tree. It is normal for some linebreakage to occur from regular use.

I DECORATIVE TRIMMINGDecorative trimming is accomplished by removing all vegetation aroundtrees, posts, fences and more.Rotate the whole unit so that the cutting attachment is at a 30 ° angle to theground (Fig. 10).

LINE INSTALLATION FOR THE RAPID REWIND TMCUTTING HEAD

Always use Craftsman XTRA QUIET TM0.095 inch (2.413 mm) originalequipment manufacturer replacement line. Lines other than the specifiedmay make the engine overheat or fail.
There are two methods to replace the Rapid Rewind zu trimming line:• Wind the inner reel with new line
• Install a pre-wound inner reel
Winding the Inner Reel With New LineNOTE: It Is unnecessary to remove the bump knob to install a new
trimming line.1. Cut two 7 ft (2.1 m) pieces of 0.095-inch (2.413 mm) trimming line.
NOTE: Always use the correct line length when installing trimming line onthe unit. The line may not release properly if the line is too long.
2. Hold the outer spool and turn the inner reel counterclockwise to line upthe arrows on the outer spool and inner reel (Fig. 11).

Hold the outer spool. Wind the inner reel counterclockwise untilapproximately four (4) inches (102 mm) of line remain (Fig. 15). Avoidcontact of bump knob while winding. Ensure bump knob is tight onshaft before proceeding, turn bump knob clockwise to tighten.

Detach old line ends from locking holes (Fig. 11) and pull old line outthrough reel eyelets (Fig. 12).

NOTE:
Making sure arrows are aligned, insert the end of a piece of trimmingline straight into one of the two eyelets in the outer spool. Push it upthrough the line loading hole in the inner reel (Fig. 12). Do not bend theline when inserting it into the eyelet.
Insert the line into the locking hole (Fig. 13). Do not push the line morethan a 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) into the line locking hole. The line will form asmall loop (Fig. 13) when it is inserted correctly.Pull the line from the outer spool until the line is tight against the innerreel (Fig. 14).
Repeat procedures 4-6 with the second piece of line in the other eyelet.Do not wind the inner reel before installing the second piece of line.

9. If winding the line becomes difficult or if the line jams, pull the ends ofthe line from the spool (Fig. 16). Continue winding the inner reelcounterclockwise until 4 inches of line remains on each side.

CLEANING THE RAPID REWIND TM HEAD
NOTE: Also perform these steps when replacing inner reel with a newprewound reel.
Cleaning the Rapid Rewind TM may be necessary if:
• A jammed or excessive line must be removed• The Rapid Rewind TM becomes difficult to wind or does not operate
correctly when bumping the head on the ground.
1. Hold the outer spool, and unscrew the bump knob counterclockwise(Fig. 17).

Pull the inner reel with existing line from the outer spool.
If rewinding with new line, remove any existing line from the inner reelbefore cleaning. Remove any debris or grass from the knob, spring, innerreel and foam seal. Wash the inner reel with warm soapy water (Fig. 19).

Clean the shaft and the inner surface of the outer spool. To clean theshaft underneath the plunger, press down on the plunger (Fig. 20).Remove any dirt or debris from the shaft.

The inner reel must be totally dry before reinstalling it into the outerspool. Do not lubricate the inner reel or outer spool assembly.
Place the cleaned and empty or new prewound inner reel into the outerspool.Place the bump knob, spring and foam seal onto the inner reel (Fig. 18).
Press the bump knob down and tighten clockwise.
Install new line in the empty inner reel as described in Line Installationfor the Rapid Rewind TM.
• MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE •
Perform these required maintenance procedures at the frequency stated inthe table. These procedures should also be a part of any seasonal tune-up.
NOTE: Some maintenance procedures may require special tools or skills.If you are unsure about these procedures take your unit to a Searsor other authorized service dealer.
NOTE: Maintenance, replacement, or repair of the emission controldevices and system may be performed by a Sears or otherauthorized service dealer.
WARNING: To prevent serious injury, never performmaintenance or repairs with unit running. Always service andrepair a cool unit. Disconnect the spark plug wire to ensure thatthe unit cannot start.

Keep dirt, grass clippings and other debris out of the engine. Clean thearea around the dipstick before removing it.
Remove the oil fill plug.Look into the oil fill hole, use a flashlight if needed. The oil should bejust touching the innermost thread (Fig. 22).If the oil level is not touching the innermost thread on the oil fill hole,add a small amount of oil to the oil fill hole and recheck (Fig. 22).Repeat this procedure until the oil level reaches the innermost threadon the oil fill hole.
Do not overfill the unit.
Make sure the O-ring is in place on the oil fill plug when checkingand changing the oil (Fig. 23).

CHANGING THE OIL

Change the oil after the first 10 hours and every 40 hours of operationthereafter. Change the oil while the engine is still warm. The oil will flowfreely and carry away more impurities.
1. Unplug spark plug boot toprevent accidental starting.
2. Remove the oil fill plug.3. Pour the oil out of the oil fill hole
and into a container by tippingthe unit to a vertical position(Fig. 24). Allow ample time forcomplete drainage.
4. Wipe up any oil residue on theunit and clean up any oil thatmay have spilled. Dispose ofthe oil according to federal,state and local regulations.
5. Refill the crankcase with 3.04fluid ounce (90 ml) of SAE 30SF, SG, SH oil.

amount of oil. The top of the label on the bottle measuresapproximately 3.04 ounces (90 ml) (Fig. 25). Check the level; SeeChecking the 0il Level. If the level is low, add a small amount of oiland recheck. Do not overfill (Fig. 25).
Replace the oil fill plug.
Reconnect the spark plug boot.

Cleaning the Air Filter
Clean and re-oil the air filter every 10 hours of operation. It is an importantitem to maintain. Failure to maintain your air filter properly can result in poorperformance or can cause permanent damage to your engine.
1. Open the air filter cover. Push the tab on the under side of the coverinward. Then pull the air filter cover out and up. (Fig. 26).

2. Remove the air filter (Fig. 26).3. Wash the filter in detergent and water
(Fig. 27). Rinse the filter thoroughly andallow it to dry.
4. Apply enough clean SAE 30 motor oil tolightly coat the filter (Fig. 28).
5. Squeeze the filter to spread and removeexcess oil (Fig. 29).
6. Replace the filter (Fig. 26).
NOTE: If the unit is operated without the airfilter, you will VOID the warranty.
7. Reinstall the air filter cover. Position theslots on the top of the air filter coveronto the tabs at the top of the backplate (Fig. 30).
8. Swing the cover down until thetab on the air filter backplatesnaps into place in the slot onthe air filter cover (Fig. 31).

IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENT

The idle speed of the engine is Idle Adjadjustable. An idle adjustment screwis between the air filter cover and theengine starter housing (Fig. 32).
NOTE: Careless adjustments canseriously damage yourunit. Aside from the idlespeed, only a Sears orother qualified servicedealer should makecarburetor adjustments.
1. Check Fuel
Old fuel is usually the reason for idle
speed problems. Drain and refill the Fig. 32tank with fresh fuel prior to makingany adjustments. Refer to Oil and Fuel Information.2. Clean Air Filter

The condition of the air filter is important to the operation of the unit. A dirtyair filter will restrict air flow. This is often mistaken for an out of adjustmentidle. Check the condition of the air filter before adjusting the idle speed screw.Refer to Air Filter Maintenance.
3. Adjust Idle Speed Screw
I _ I WARNING: The cutting attachment may spin during idle speed Iadjustments. Wear protective clothing and observe all safetyinstructions to prevent serious personal injury.
If, after checking the fuel and cleaning the air filter, the engine still will notidle, adjust the idle speed screw as follows:
1. Start the engine and let it run at a high idle for a minute to warm up.Refer to Starting/Stopping Instructions.
2. Release the throttle trigger and let the engine idle. If the engine stops,insert a small Phillips screwdriver in between the Air Filter Cover andthe Engine Cover (Fig. 32). Turn the idle speed screw in, clockwise, 1/8of a turn at a time (as needed) until the engine idles smoothly.
NOTE: The cutting head should not rotate when the engine idles.
3. If the cutting attachment rotates when the engine idles, turn the idlespeed screw counterclockwise 1/8 of a turn at a time (as needed), untilthe head stops turning.
Checking the fuel, cleaning the air filter, and adjusting the idle speed shouldsolve most engine problems. If not and all of the following are true:
• the engine will not idle
• the engine hesitates or stalls on acceleration• there is a loss of engine power
Have the carburetor serviced by a Sears or other qualified service dealer.
ROCKER ARM CLEARANCE
This requires disassembly of the engine. If you feel unsure or unqualified toperform this, take the unit to a Sears or other qualified service dealerNOTE: Inspect the valve to rocker arm clearance with a feeler gauge after
the first 10 hours of operation and every 40 hours of operation.
• The engine must be cold when checking or adjusting the valve clearance.• This task should be performed inside, in a clean, dust free area.
1. Remove the six (6) screws on the back of the engine cover with a Flat-head or T-25 Torx screwdriver (Fig. 33).
2. Disconnect the spark plug wire.
3. Clean dirt from around the spark plug. Remove the spark plug from thecylinder head by turning a 5/8 in. socket counterclockwise.
4. Remove the engine cover (Fig. 33).

Clean dirt from around the rocker armcover. Remove the screw holding the Rocker Armrocker arm cover with a large flat blade Coverscrewdriver or Torx T-25 bit (Fig. 34).Remove the rocker arm cover and .\gasket. SparPull the starter rope slowly to bring the Plug Holepiston to the top of its travel, (knownas top dead center). Check that:The piston is at the top of its travel.Look in the spark plug hole to view thepiston (Fig. 35)
Both rocker arms move freely, and Fig. 34both valves are closed.
If these statements are not true, repeat step 6.
Slide the feeler gauge between the rocker arm and the top of eachvalve stem. Measure the clearance between the valve stem and rockerarm (Fig. 35 & 36). Measure both the intake and exhaust valves.

The recommended clearance for both intake and exhaust is .003 - .006 in.(.076 - 0.152 mm). Use a standard automotive .005 in. (0.127 mm) feelergauge. The feeler gauge should slide between the rocker arm and valve stemwith a slight amount of resistance, without binding. See Figures 35 and 36.
8. If the clearance is not within specification:
a. Turn the adjusting nut using a 5/16 inch (8 mm) wrench or nut driver(Fig. 36).
• To increase clearance, turn the adjusting nut counterclockwise.
• To decrease clearance, turn the adjusting nut clockwise.
b. Recheck both clearances, and adjust as necessary.9. Reinstall the rocker arm cover using a new gasket. Torque the screw to
20-30 in•lb (2.2-3.4 N•m).
10. Check the spark plug and reinstall. See Replacing the Spark Plug.11. Replace the spark plug wire.
12. Reinstall the engine cover. Check alignment of the cover beforetightening the screws. Tighten screws.
REPLACING THE SPARK PLUG
Use a replacement part number 753-05784 or Champion spark plug,#RDZ19H. The correct air gap is 0.025 in. (0.635 mm.). Remove the plugafter every 40 hours of operation and check its condition.1. Stop the engine and allow it to cool. Remove the six (6)screws on the back
of the engine cover with a Flat-head or T-25 Torx screwdriver (Fig. 33).
2. Grasp the plug wire firmly and pull the cap from the spark plug.3. Clean dirt from around the spark plug. Remove the spark plug from the
cylinder head by turning a 5/8 in. socket counterclockwise.
I _ I WARNING: Do not sand blast, scrap e or clean electrodes. Gritin the engine could damage the cylinder.
4. Replace cracked, fouled or dirty spark plug. Set the air gap at 0.025 in.(0.635 mm.) using a feeler gauge (Fig. 37).
5. Install a correctly-gapped spark plug in the cylinder head. Turn the 5/8in. socket clockwise until snug.
If using a torque wrench, torque to: _J Lj--\110-120 in,•lb, (12.3-13.5 N•m}

SPARK ARRESTOR MAINTENANCE
1. Remove the rear enginecover. See Rocker Arm MufflerClearance.
2. With a flat blade Slot Spark Arrestorscrewdriver or Torx T-20 Screenbit and a T-25 bit,remove the screws
attaching the sparkarrestor diverter to themuffler (Fig. 38).
3. Pull the spark arrestordiverter out of themuffler. Remove thespark arrestor diverter.

CLEANING

Use a small brush to clean off the outside of the unit. Do not use strongdetergents. Household cleaners that contain aromatic oils such as pine andlemon, and solvents such as kerosene, can damage plastic housing orhandle. Wipe off any moisture with a soft cloth.
STORAGE
• Never store the unit with fuel in the tank where fumes may reach an openflame or spark.
• Allow the engine to cool before storing.• Lock up the unit to prevent unauthorized use or damage.
• Store the unit in a dry, well-ventilated area.• Store the unit out of the reach of children.
LONG TERM STORAGE
1. Drain all gasoline from the gas tank into a container. Do not use gasthat has been stored for more than 60 days. Dispose of the old gasolinein accordance to federal, state, and local regulations.
2. Start the engine and allow it to run until it stalls. This ensures that allgasoline has been drained from the carburetor.
3. Allow the engine to cool. Remove the spark plug and put 1 oz. (30 ml)of high quality motor oil into the cylinder. Pull the starter rope slowly todistribute the oil. Reinstall the spark plug.
NOTE: Remove the spark plug and drain all of the oil from the cylinderbefore attempting to start the trimmer after storage.
4. Change the oil, referring to Changing the Off. Dispose of the old oil inaccordance to federal, state and local regulations.
5. Thoroughly clean the unit and inspect for any loose or damaged parts.Repair or replace damaged parts and tighten loose screws, nuts orbolts. The unit is ready for storage.

• Allow the engine to cool before transporting.
• Secure the unit while transporting.
• Drain the gas tank before transporting.• Tighten gas cap before transporting.

• Use pantalones largos y gruesos, botas, guantes y camisa de mangalarga. No use ropa holgada, alhajas, pantalones cortos, sandalias ni estedescalzo. Sostenga el cabello sobre el nivel de los hombros.
• La protecci6n accesoria de corte debe estar siempre colocada en sulugar mientras opere la unidad. No opere la unidad con las dos lineas decorte extendidas, y la linea correcta instalada. No extienda la linea decorte m_s all_ de la Iongitud de la protecci6n.

• Esta unidad cuenta con un embrague. El accesorio de corte permaneceestacionario cuando el motor est& en marcha lenta. Si no Io hace, hagaajustar la unidad por un tecnico de servicio autorizado.
• Ajuste la manija a su tamafio de modo que le brinde el mejor agarre.• AsegOrese de que el accesorio de corte no est_ en contacto con ningOn
objeto antes de arrancar la unidad.• Use la unidad Onicamente con la luz del alia o con buena luz artificial.
• Evite arrancar la unidad accidentalmente. Col6quese en posici6n de iniciosiempre que tire de la cuerda de arranque. El operador y la unidad debenestar en una posici6n estable al comenzar. Lea las Instrucciones deArranque y Apagado.

No intente tocar ni detener el accesorio de corte mientras gira.
• No toque el motor, el bastidor del engranaje ni el silenciador. Estas partesse calientan mucho con la operaci6n. Luego de apagar la unidad,permanecen calientes durante un tiempo breve.
• No opere el motor a una velocidad mayor que la necesaria para cortar,recortar o recortar los bordes. No haga funcionar el motor a alta velocidadmientras no est_ cortando.
• Apague siempre el motor cuando demore el corte o mientras caminaentre zonas de corte.

TIPO DE ACEITE RECOMENDADO
El uso de un aceite del tipo y peso correctos en el cigQeSal esextremadamente importante. Verifique el aceite antes de cada uso y cambieel aceite con frecuencia. Si no usa el aceite correcto, o utiliza aceite sucio,puede causar el desgaste y falla prematuros del motor.
Use un aceite de buena calidad SAE 30 de API (American Petroleum Institute)clase de servicio SG, SF, SH.
CARGA DE ACEITE EN EL CARTER DEL CIGOEI_IAL: USO INICIAL
NOTA: Esta unidad se envia sin carga deaceite. A fin de evitar el daSo de launidad, cargue aceite en el carterdel cigQeSal antes de intentararrancar la unidad.
Su unidad trae una botella de aceite SAE 30 SF,SG, SH de 90 ml (3.04 onzas fluidas) (Fig. 2).

1. Desenrosque la tapa de la botella deaceite y retire el sello de papel quecubre la apertura. Vuelva a colocarla tapa. Corte la punta de la boquilladel embudo (Fig. 2).

Uso de aditivos en el combustible
El uso de aditivos en el combustible, como el estabilizador de gasolina STA-BIL® o similar, inhibirA la corrosi6n y reducirA la formaci6n de dep6sitos degoma. Eluso de aditivos puede evitar que se formen dep6sitos daSinos en elcarburador por hasta ocho (8) meses. Agregue 23 ml (0.8 de onza) de aditivo porgal6n de combustible de acuerdo alas instrucciones del envase. No agregueNUNCA los aditivos directamente al tanque de combustible de la unidad.
CARGA DE COMBUSTIBLE EN LA UNIDAD
ADVERTENCIA: Cargue el combustible en un Area exteriorlimpia y bien ventilada. Limpie de inmediato todo combustible quese haya derramado. Evite crear una fuente de encendido con elcombustible derramado. No arranque el motor hasta que se hayanevaporado los gases del combustible.
ADVERTENCIA: La gasolina es muy infiamable. Los gasespueden explotar si se encienden. Apague siempre el motor yespere que se enfrie antes de cargar el tanque de combustible.No fume mientras Ilena el tanque. Mantenga las chispas y lasllamas lejos del Area.

2. Llene el tanque de combustible con gasolina nueva, limpia y sin plomo.
NOTA." No hay necesidad de encender la unidad. El Control de ParadaArranque y Apagado est_ en la posici6n Arranque (I), en todomomento (Fig. 8).
3. Oprima y suelte completamente la pera del cebador 10 veces,lentamente. Deber& verse alguna cantidad de combustible en la peradel cebador (Fig. 6). Si no se ve combustible en la pera, oprima la perahasta que se yea el combustible.
4. Coloque la palanca del obturador en la Posici6n 1 (Fig. 6).5. Col6quese en la posici6n de arranque (Fig. 7). OPRIMA y SOSTENGA
OPRIMIDO el control del regulador en TODOS los siguientes pasos.Tire de la cuerda de arranque en un movimiento controlado 5 veces.
NOTA." La unidad usa Incredi-PulF M con MAX FIRE IGNITION TM Io cualreduce considerablemente el esfuerzo requerido para arrancar elmotor. Debe halar el cord6n de arranque Io suficiente para oir queel motor trata de arrancar. No es necesario halar el cord6n conenergia: no hay fuerte resistencia al halar. Tenga en cuenta queeste metodo de arranque es muy diferente (y mucho m_s f_cil) delque usted pudiera estar acostumbrado a usar.
6. Contint_e oprimiendo el control del regulador. Coloque la palancadel obturador en la Posici6n 2 (Fig. 6).
7. Contint_e oprimiendo el control del regulador. Tire de la cuerda dearranque en un movimiento controlado 3-5 veces para arrancar el motor.
8. Contint_e oprimiendo el control del regulador. Deje que el motor secaliente durante 30 a 60 segundos.
9. Contint_e oprimiendo el control del regulador. Coloque la palancadel obturador en la Posici6n 3 (Fig. 6).
10. Contint_e oprimiendo el control del regulador. Haga funcionar launidad durante 60 segundos m_s para completar el calentamiento. Launidad se puede usar durante este paso.

COMO SOSTENER EL RECORTADOR
Antes de operar esta unidad, p&rese en posici6nde operaci6n (Fig. 9). Verifique Io siguiente:
• El operador tiene protecci6n ocular y ropa adecuada.
• El brazo derecho est& levemente oblado, y lamano est_ sosteniendo el mango del eje.
• El brazo izquierdo est& recto, y la mano est_sosteniendo la manija.
• La unidad est& debajo del nivel de la cintura.
• El accesorio de corte est_ paralelo al suelo y hacef_cil contacto con la vegetaci6n que va a sercortada sin que el operador tenga que inclinarse.
Una vez que usted este en la posici6n defuncionamiento, enganche la correa para el

Golpee la perilla bot6n de tope contra el suelo para hacer avanzar la linea decorte cuando sea necesario.
CONSEJOS PARA OBTENER MEJORES RESULTADOS AL RECORTAR
• Para Iograr los mejores resultados en el corte, haga funcionar la unidadcon el control del regulador totalmente oprimido.
• El _ngulo correcto para ubicar el accesorio de corte es paralelo al suelo.
• No fuerce el accesorio de corte. Permita que la punta de la linea realice elcorte (en especial a Io largo de paredes). Si corta con m&s de la puntareducir_ la eficacia del corte y puede sobrecargar el motor.
• Corte cesped de m&s de 200 mm (8 pulgadas) trabajando de arriba haciaabajo en pequefios incrementos para evitar el desgaste prematuro de lalinea y el arrastre del motor.
• Corte de derecha a izquierda.
• Mueva lentamente el recortador dentro y fuera del _rea de corte a la alturadeseada. Realice movimientos ya sea de adelante hacia atr_s y viceversa, o delado a lado. El corte en longitudes m&s cortas produce mejores resultados.
• Recorte Qnicamente cuando el pasto y las hierbas esten secas.
• La vida de su linea de corte depende de:
- Seguir todas las tecnicas de corte indicadas anteriormente- El tipo de vegetaci6n que corte
- El lugar donde se corta
Por ejemplo, la linea se desgastar& m&s r_pido cuando corte contra un muroque cuando corte alrededor de un _rbol.
I RECORTE DECORATIVOEl recorte decorativo se realiza eliminando toda la vegetaci6n de alrededorde los _rboles, postes, cercos, etc.
Gire toda la unidad a modo de que el accesorio de corte se ubique a un_ngulo de 30 ° con el suelo (Fig 10).

INSTALACION DE LA LINEA PARA EL RAPID REWIND TM
I_ I ADVERTENCIA: No use nunca linea reforzada con metal,Ialambre, cadena ni soga, etc. Estos elementos puedendesprenderse y convertirse en un proyectil peligroso.
Use siempre la linea de Craftsman XTF_6.QUIET TM de 2.413 mm (0.095pulgadas). Una linea mayor puede causar un recalentamiento o falla en el motor.
Existen dos metodos para cambiar la linea de corte Rapid Rewind TM.
• Bobinar el carrete interior con linea nueva
• Instalar un carrete prebobinadoBobinado del carrete interior con I{nea nueva
NOTA" No hace falta quitar la perilla percusiva para instalar linea de cortenueva.
1. Corte dos piezas de 2.1 m (7 pies) de Iongitud de la linea de corte dedi_metro 2.413 mm (0.095").
NOTA" Use siempre la Iongitud de linea correcta al instalar linea de corteen la unidad. La linea puede no soltarse correctamente si esdemasiado larga.

• PROGRAMA DE MANTENIMIENTO •
Estos procedimientos requeridos para el mantenimiento deben serrealizados con la frecuencia indicada en la tabla. Deben ser incluidos comoparte de toda puesta a punto de cada temporada.
NOTA: Algunos procedimientos de mantenimiento pueden requerir el usode herramientas o habilidades especiales. INSPECCION DEL NIVEL DE ACEITE
No podemos exagerar la importancia de verificar y mantener el nivelcorrecto de aceite en el carter del cigQe_al. Inspeccione el nivel de aceiteantes de cada uso:
1. Apague el motor y permita que el aceite drene dentro del carter del cigQe_al.2. Coloque el motor sobre una superficie plana y nivelada, con el
protector de la cabeza de corte colgando de un banco o mesa detrabajo para obtener una lectura adecuada del nivel de aceite (Fig. 21).

3. Mantenga la suciedad, recortes de cesped, etc. fuera del motor. Limpieel Area alrededor del tap6n de relleno de aceite / varilla de medici6nantes de retirarlo.
4. Retire el tap6n de relleno de aceite / varilla de medici6n y seque elaceite. Vuelva a insertarlo completamente hacia adentro.
5. La mirada en el petr61eo Ilena hoyo, utiliza una linterna si necesitado. Elpetr61eo debe estar tocando apenas las interiores la mayoria de loshilos (Fig. 22).
6. Si el nivel de aceite no estA tocando la rosca mAs interior del agujero deIlenar aceite, a_ada una peque_a cantidad al agujero de Ilenar aceite yvuelva a comprobar (Fig. 22). Repita este procedimiento hasta que elnivel de aceite alcance la rosca mAs interna del agujero de Ilenar aceite.
No Ilene demasiado la unidad.
Verifique que el anillo en 0 este en su lugar en el tap6n de relleno deaceite / varilla de medici6n cuando mida y cambie el aceite (Fig. 23).

CAMBIO DEL ACEITE

Cambiar el aceite despues de las primeras 10 horas y cada 40 horas defuncionamiento a partir de entonces. Cambie el aceite mientras el motor aQnestA caliente. El aceite fluirA con libertad y IlevarA mAs impurezas.
1. Desenchufe el manguito de labujia de encendido paraeliminar el arranque.
2. Retire el tap6n de relleno deaceite / varilla de medici6n.
3. Vierta el aceite fuera del orificiode Ilenado de aceite en un
recipiente inclinando la unidadhasta una posici6n vertical (Fig.24). Deje suficiente tiempo comopara completar el drenaje.
4. Seque todo el aceite residual dela unidad y limpie todo el aceiteque pueda haberse derramado.Elimine todo el aceite deacuerdo con las normasfederales, estatales y locales.
5. Vuelva a cargar el carter delcigQeSal con 90 ml (3.04 onzas Fig. 24fluidas) de aceite SAE 30 SF,SG, SH.
NOTA." Use la botella y la boquilla que guard6 del uso inicial para medir lacantidad correcta. El nivel de 90 ml (3.04 onzas) estA aproximadamenteen la parte superior de la etiqueta de la botella (Fig. 25). Mida el nivel conla varilla de mediciOn. Si el nivel estA bajo, agregue una pequeSacantidad de aceite y vuelva a medir (Fig. 25). No Io Ilene demasiado.

MANTENIMIENTO DEL FILTRO DE AIRE

Limpieza del filtro de aireLimpie y vuelva a aceitar el filtro de aire cada 10 horas de operaci6n. Es unade las partes cuyo mantenimiento es importante. No mantener debidamentesu filtro de aire puede resultar en funcionamiento inadecuado o puedecausar da_o permanente a su motor.
1. Abra la tapa del filtro de aire. Empuje hacia adentro la lengQeta queestA en lado inferior de la tapa. Despues hale hacia afuera y arriba latapa del filtro de aire. (Fig. 26).

2. Retire el filtro de aire (Fig. 26).
3. Lave el filtro con agua y detergente (Fig. 27). Enjuague bien el filtro ydejelo secar.
4. Aplique suficiente aceite limpio de motor SAE 30 para recubrirligeramente el filtro (Fig. 28).
5. Apriete el filtro para esparcir y retirar el exceso de aceite (Fig. 29).
6. Vuelva a colocar el filtro (Fig. 26).NOTA: Si opera la unidad sin el filtro de aire, su garantia serA ANULADA.
7. Instale de nuevo la tapa del filtro de aire. Haga coincidir las ranuras quehay en la parte superior de la tapa del filtro de aire con las lengOetas dela parte superior de la placa posterior (Fig. 30).
8. Gire la tapa hacia abajo hasta que la lengOeta de la placa posterior delfiltro de aire se enganche en la ranura de la tapa del filtro de aire (Fig. 31).

AJUSTE DEL VELOCIDAD MINIMA
durante los ajustes del carburador. Use ropa que Io proteja ycumpla con todas las instrucciones de seguridad para prevenirgraves lesiones personales.
La velocidad minima del motor puede serajustada. Puede tener acceso al tomillo de TornillOdeminimadeajustev/fz_-_---i.ajuste de minima a traves de un orificio en laparte supedor de la cubierta del motor (Fig. 32). "_
NOTA" Los ajustes descuidados puedendaSar su motor seriamente. Apartede la velocidad de marcha envacio, los ajustes al carburadordeber_n ser hechos solamente porun distribuidor Sears u otrodistribuidor de servicio calificado.
1. Inspeccibn del Combustible
En general, el combustible viejo es el motivoprincipal para que la unidad no funcione enforma adecuada. Drene y vuelva a Ilenar el Fig. 32tanque con combustible nuevo, limpio y sin plomo antes de hacer ningenajuste. Consulte la Informaci6n acerca del Aceite y Combustible.
2. Limpieza del Filtro de Aire
I IADVERTENC'A:A'apagarlaun'dad,asegaresedequeel Iaccesorio de corte se haya detenido antes de apoyar la unidadpara prevenir graves lesiones personales.
La condici6n del filtro de aire es importante para el funcionamiento de la unidad.Un filtro de aire sucio limitar_ el flujo de aire y cambiar_ la mezcla de aire ycombustible. Con frecuencia esto se confunde con un velocidad minima fuera deajuste. Inspeccione la condici6n del filtro de aire antes de ajustar el tomillo develocidad minima. Consulte la secci6n de Mantenimiento del Filtro de Aire.
3. Ajuste del Tornillo de Velocidad Minima
I IADVERTENC'A"Paraev'targravesles'°nespers°nales, Iapague siempre su recortador y espere que se enfrie antes delimpiarlo o realizar todo tipo de mantenimiento.
Si despues de inspeccionar el combustible y limpiar el filtro de aire el motorann no funciona en minima, ajuste el tornillo de velocidad minima segen seindica a continuaci6n.
1. Arranque el motor y dejelo funcionar a una minima alta durante unminuto para que se caliente.
2. Suelte el gatillo del regulador y deje que el motor funcione en minima.Si el motor se para, inserte un destomillador Phillips pequeSo en elorificio de la cubierta del motor (Fig. 32). Gire el tomillo de minimahacia adentro, en sentido horario, de a 1/8 de vuelta por vez (segensea necesario) hasta que el motor funcione en minima suavemente.
NOTA" El accesorio de corte no debe girar cuando el motor est_funcionando en minima.
3. Si el accesorio de corte gira cuando el motor est& funcionando en minima,gire el tomillo de velocidad minima en sentido antihorario de a 1/8 devuelta por vez (segen sea necesario) para reducir la velocidad minima.
La inspecci6n del combustible, la limpieza del filtro de aire y el ajuste deltomillo de velocidad minima debe resolver la mayoria de los problemas delmotor. Si esto no sucede, y:• El motor no funciona en minima
• El motor fluctea o se ahoga al acelerarlo• Existe una perdida de fuerza motriz
Ileve el carburador a ajustar a un proveedor de servicio autorizado.
HUELGO DEL BRAZO OSClLANTE
Esto requiere el desarmado del motor. Si usted siente que no est_ seguro oque no est_ calificado como para realizar esto, Ileve la unidad a un centro deservicio autorizado.
NOTA" Inspeccione el huelgo de la v_lvula del brazo oscilante con unagalga despues de las primeras 10 horas de operaci6n y luego cada40 horas de operaci6n en Io sucesivo.
• El motor debe estar frio cuando verifique o ajuste el huelgo de la v_lvula.• Esta tarea debe ser realizada en interiores, en un &rea limpia y libre de polvo.
1. Quite los dos (6) Tornillos de encima de la tapa del motor con undestomillador de pala o Torx #25 (Fig. 33).
2. Desconecte el cable de la bujia de encendido.
3. Limpie la suciedad de alrededor de la bujia de encendido. Saque la bujiade encendido de la cabeza del cilindro girando un casquillo de 16 mm(5/8 pulgadas) en sentido antihorario.
4. Saque la cubierta del motor (Fig. 33).

Limpie la suciedad de alrededor de lacubierta del brazo oscilante. Saque el Cubiertatomillo que sostiene la cubierta del del brazebrazo oscilante con un destomillador oscilantegrande de v_stago piano o con unabroca Torx T-25 (Fig. 34). Saque la Orificio decubierta y la junta del brazo oscilante, la bujia deTire lentamente de la cuerda de encendidearranque para traer el pist6n hacia laparte superior de su recorrido(conocido como punto muertosuperior). Verifique que:El pist6n se encuentre en la parte Fig. 34superior de su recorrido. Mire elagujero de la bujia para ver el pist6n (Fig. 35).
Ambos brazos oscilantes se mueven con libertad, y ambas v_lvulasest&n cerradas
De no ser asi, repita paso 6.
Deslice el calibrador de hoja entre el balancin y la parte superior decada uno de los v_stagos de las v&lvulas. Mida el huelgo entre elv_stago de la v_lvula y el brazo oscilante (Fig. 35 & 36). Realice esto enlas v_lvulas de entrada y de escape.

El huelgo recomendado para las valvulas de entrada y de escape es 0.076 - 0.152mm (0.003 - 0.006 pulgadas). Use un calibrador regular de autom6vil de 0.127mm (0.005 pulgadas). El calibrador debe deslizarse entre el balancin y el v_stagode la v_lvula con una ligera cantidad de resistencia, sin doblarse (Fig. 35 y 36).8. Si el huelgo no se encuentra dentro de las especificaciones:
a. Gire la tuerca de ajuste con una Ilave de 8 mm (5/16 pulgadas) o unaguia de tuercas (Fig. 36).
• Para incrementar el huelgo, gire la tuerca de ajuste en sentido antihorario.
• Para reducir el huelgo, gire la tuerca de ajuste en sentido horatio.
b. Vuelva a inspeccionar ambos huelgos, y ajuste si es necesario.9. Vuelva a instalar la cubierta del brazo oscilante utilizando una nueva
junta. Ajuste el tornillo a 2,2-3,4 N.m (20-30 pulgadas*libra).10. Inspeccione la bujia de encendido y vuelva a instalar. Lea Cambio de la
Bujfa de encendido.11. Vuelva a colocar el cable de la bujia de encendido.
12. Vuelva a instalar la cubierta del motor. Verifique la alineaci6n de lacubierta antes de ajustar los tornillos. Ajuste los tornillos.
CAMBIO DE LA BUJIA DE ENCENDIDO
J_IL I ADVERTENCIA: No limpie con chorro de arena, ni raspe niIlimpie los electrodos. El motor podria daSarse si penetranpequeSas particulas en el cilindro.
Use una bujia de encendido 753-05784. La separaci6n correcta es de 0.635mm (0.025 pulgadas). Retire la bujia luego de cada 40 horas de operaci6n einspeccione su estado.
1. Apague el motor y espere que se enfrie.Retire los seis (6)tornillos de la parte posteriorde la tapa del motor con destomillador decabeza plana o Torx No. T-25 (Fig. 33). 0.635 mm
2. Tome el alambre de la bujia con firmeza y (0.025 in.)s_quelo de la bujia de encendido. !
3. Limpie alrededor de la bujia de encendido.Saque la bujia de encendido de la cabeza delcilindro girando una Ilave de casquillo de 16mm (5/8 de pulgada) en sentido antihorario. -- Fig. 37
4. Cambie las bujias que esten rajadas, sucias o deterioradas. Fije laseparaci6n de aire a 0.635 mm (0.025 pulgadas) utilizando uncalibrador (Fig. 37).
5. Instale una bujia de encendido con la separaci6n correcta en la cabezadel cilindro. Ajuste girando la Ilave de casquillo 16 mm (5/8 de pulgada)en sentido horatio hasta que este ajustada sin huelgo.
Si usa una Ilave de torsi6n, ajuste a:110-120 pulg.*libras (12.3-13.5 N.m). No ajuste demasiado.
MANTENIMIENTO DEL AMORTIGUADOR DE CHISPAS
1. Saque la cubierta delamortiguador dechispas. Lea Huelgo delbrazo oscilante.
2. Con un destornilladorpiano de la I_mina o unpedacito torx T-20 y unpedacito T-25, quite lostornillos que unen eldesviador de lospararrayos de la chispaal silenciador (Fig. 38).
3. Saque el desviador delos pararrayos de lachispa el silenciador.Quite el desviador de lospararrayos de la chispa.

LIMPIEZA

Use un cepillo peque_o para limpiar la parte exterior de la unidad. No usedetergentes fuertes. Los limpiadores domesticos que contienen aceitesarom&ticos como pino y limon, y con solventes como el queroseno pueden da_arel bastidor de pl_stico y la manija. Seque toda la humedad con un paso suave.
ALMACENAMIENTO
• No guarde nunca la unidad con combustible en el tanque donde losvapores puedan Ilegar a una llama o chispa.
• Espere que el motor se enfrie antes de guardar la unidad.• Guarde la unidad bajo Ilave para prevenir el uso por personas no
autorizadas y su da_o.
° Guarde la unidad en un _rea seca y bien ventilada.° Guarde la unidad fuera del alcance de los ni_os.
ALMACENAMIENTO POR LARGOS PERIODOS DE TIEMPO
Si debe guardar la unidad durante un largo periodo de tiempo:
1. Drene toda la gasolina del tanque en un recipiente. No use gasolinaque haya estado guardada durante m_s de 60 dias. Elimine la gasolinavieja de acuerdo con las normas federales, estatales y locales.
2. Arranque el motor y dejelo funcionar hasta que se ahogue. Estoasegura que toda la gasolina se haya drenado del carburador.
3. Deje enfriar el motor. Saque la bujia de encendido y coloque 30 ml (1onza) deaceite de motor de buena calidad en el cilindro. Tire de la cuerda de arranquelentamente para distribuir el aceite. Vuelva a instalar la bujia de encendido.
NOTA: Saque la bujia de encendido y drene todo el aceite del cilindro antesde intentar usar el recortador luego de haber estado guardado.
4. Cambie el aceite. Lea Cambio del Aceite. Elimine el aceite viejo deacuerdo con las normas federales, estatales y locales.
5. Limpie bien la unidad y verifique que no existan partes flojas ni da_adas.Repare o cambie las partes daSadas y ajuste los tomillos, las tuercas olos pernos que esten flojos. La unidad est_ lista para ser guardada.
