Ongoing events and travel news of note: Old Rittenhouse Cookbook is New Bayfield, WI - Bed and Breakfast lovers will likely recognize the name Old Rittenhouse Inn. Opened by Jerry and Mary Phillips in the mid-1970s, it quickly became the benchmark Midwest model for hospitality, historic accommodations and fine local cuisine. Dozens of other inns around the region sprung up hoping to match the almost magical experience. It was largely through the success of The Rittenhouse that guests discovered the charms of Bayfield, Madeline Island and the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior. Now managed by Mark and Wendy Phillips, the second generation of innkeepers, The Old Rittenhouse has earned its own beautiful book of stories, photos and favorite recipes. In 214 pages readers hear tales of the Ice Highway that connects Bayfield with Madeline Island in the dead of winter, learn the best recipes of the Inn, and meet local characters that make the area special. If you have ever been a guest there, you're spoiled and compare every other BNB experience to The Rittenhouse. So here you go: PH: 1-800-779-2129 or www.rittenhouseinn.com.
