Want to know parts of the worksheet (KWL worksheet provided)- The projector will be used to show the Prezi I will be using about Gandhi (Prezi

PDF provided)

Teacher’s Goals:- As a teacher I hope to have the students be able to identify forms of civil

disobedience and how they could apply this themselves- As a teach I want to be able to use the technology in the classroom more smoothly

than the first two time I taught- I want to effectively hold the students attention while I give my brief lecture and

have them fully participate in class

Time 10-1010 Start of Class: Get class working on the KWL worksheet as they come in

1010-1020 Introduction of Lesson: Introduce that topic for the day, Gandhi and Civil Disobedience. Then have them as a class talk about what they already knowand what they want to know about Gandhi and Civil Disobedience anddiscuss how we will come back to the sheet at the end about what theylearned

1020-1040 Lesson Instruction: Use the Prezi to talk about Gandhi’s life and his influence using civil disobedience. Then discuss the people influenced byGandhi and their uses of civil disobedience

1040-1050 Assessments/Checks for Understanding: The assessment will be having the students write down answers to an open ended questions asked in class suchas:

- How did Gandhi first gain his political activism?- What was Gandhi’s influence on the U.S. Civil Rights Movement?- What was one of the most recent acts of Civil Disobediance in popular

culture?

Then ask the students to discuss any other lingering questions that they havethat may not have been answered by the informational session.At the end of the Prezi there are a few quotes and pictures to ask the studentsIf they feel they were influenced by Gandhi or not.

1050-11 Closure/Wrap-Up/Review: Discuss with the students how this relates to their bigger pictures of Buddhism and Hinduism and the ideologies and beliefs
