The game industry is facing a surge of data which results from highly detailed information about the behavior of software and users. The data can come from a variety of channels, and be potentially very large. Profiling users has emerged across multiple data science application areas as a way of managing complex user data.This allow for condensation and modeling of a complex behavioral space, and enables action to be taken towards meeting the needs of the users. In this presentation, profiling as a fundamental tool for game development, across production cycles, will be described, including coverage of basic to advanced methods and how they can be integrated across different types of productions. @AndersDrachen
Vince Darley, Chief Scientist at King.com, will discuss how King has used data to continually optimise and improve its network of games, and the challenges of scaling the data team as the organisation grew from 200 to 2000 people. @VinceDarley
Many games companies can predict player churn, but now that you know that they’re going what can you do to keep them? How do you deliver the right message, on the right channel, at the right time? At Jagex we faced exactly this challenge and in this case study we will present a variety of data driven tools and techniques that allowed us to use rich in-game player behaviour to optimise long-term retention and revenue uplift.
