    OPU-1

    Modular design and extensive features

The use of the most advanced technology indigital signal processing together with DIMAT'swide experience in digital and analog power-line carrier terminals have resulted in a highlyflexible, robust and reliable Universal Power-Line Carrier terminal.

The modular design of the OPU-1 terminal andadvanced features ensure a perfect fit to everyuser need. It can integrate a great variety of interfaces that allow the transmission of all typeof services through high-voltage lines.

This modularity allows OPU-1 terminals totransmit analog, digital or both analog anddigital channels simultaneously, includingteleprotection if be the case.

When working with analog channels, the OPU-1terminal can transmit one or two 4 kHz standardchannels in each direction. The effective bandof the channel can be used for the transmissionof data at high speed, various VF telegraphchannels, teleprotection signals or for a speech-plus service.

When working with a digital channel, the OPU-1terminal can support two different digitalmodulation schemes (QAM or OFDM).

When using QAM, it offers a transmission rateof 81 kbit/s in a bandwidth of 16 kHz, in eachdirection. Thanks to the use of a built-in echo

canceller, the transmission and reception bandscan be superimposed, resulting in a totalbandwidth of 16 kHz. A bandwidth of 8 kHz isalso possible, single for superimposed bandsor in each direction for non-adjacent bands.

    UniversalPower-Line Carrier Terminal

With the OFDM digital modulation scheme, theOPU-1 terminal can support a maximum

transmission rate of 256 kbit/s in a bandwidthof 32 kHz, in each direction.

The OPU-1 terminal can transmit in separatedbands using different frequency slots in thesame high-voltage line or even independentlines. In this case, an additional high-frequencyline filter is required. Apart from frequencycongestion solution, this additional filter allowsspecial topology applications like Teed lines.

The digital user interface can be chosen froma number of different possibilities: Ethernet,G.703, V.35, V.11 and V.24/V.28.

One remarkable feature of the OPU-1 terminalis the automatic fall-back rate when there is

unfavourable line noise and/or signal reflectionconditions. When the line conditions improve, the transmission rate is automatically re-established. This feature can be disabled fromthe programming software if necessary.

Furthermore, the OPU-1 terminal offers thepossibility of using the FEC (Forward ErrorCorrection) built-in optional functionality whenthe link quality is unsatisfactory. The link qualitymeasurement is based on the G.821 standardconcepts.

When using the OPU-1 terminal for theinterconnection of different line segments, abuilt-in Ethernet bridge selects the frames to

be transmitted to the remote end, thus makinga more efficient use of the communicationschannel.

The terminal has an internal service channelthat can be connected in cascade with the

internal service channel of different OPU-1 links. This is a useful feature that makes the remotemanagement of the OPU-1 terminals possiblewhen not all of them have the possibility of connection to an IP network.

The OPU-1 terminals, furthermore, include anSNMP agent that makes it possible to remotelymonitor them via IP network, from anymanagement platform.

    OPC-2

A simple and reliable solution for PLCnetworks with frequency congestion

The OPC-2 is a highly flexible platform that isconceived with a dual purpose: Power-LineCarrier functionality or, alternately, Narrow-BandHigh-Frequency Teleprotection functionality.

The required OPC-2 functionality is establishedby simply configuring some microswitches inthe management & process unit and line filtermodules.

     The output power (20, 40 or 80 W P.E.P.)determines the OPC-2 platform version. 20 Wand 40 W versions are integrated in a single 6s.u. shelf, while an additional 3 s.u. shelf isrequired in 80 W versions.

All OPC-2 versions can be equipped with aredundant power-supply module.

    Power-Line Carrier Functionality

The Power-Line Carrier functionality is a well-proven, cost effective solution to enableelectrical power utilities to use high-voltagelines to transmit different types of information(telecontrol data, speech and teleprotectionsignals) over long distances, using one or twostandard 4 kHz channels in each direction.

A large variety of optional modules can beadded to an OPC-2 platform with PLC

functionality. Examples include: a speechmodule, a 2 or 4-command teleprotectionsystem, an asynchronous programmablemodem, a digital transit filter and an input/outputcombiner. When equipped with the optionalsynchronous and asynchronous configurablemodem, the effective band of the channel canbe used exclusively for transmission of synchronous or asynchronous data at a speedof up to 28.8 kbit/s.

    Multi-function platform

    HF Teleprotection Functionality

The High-Frequency Teleprotection functionalityenables electrical power utilities to transmitteleprotection commands between protectionrelays over high-voltage lines in a single 4 kHzbandwidth, using 2 kHz for transmission and2 kHz for reception.

The OPC-2 plat form allows three nominaltransmission times to be programmed. Thesystem meets the security and dependabilityrequirements specified in IEC 60834-1Recommendation for the three types of teleprotection command schemes: Permissivetripping schemes, Intertripping schemes (Director transfer tripping) and Blocking protectionschemes.

NRTR equipment is a real time router that usesproprietary technology allowing to manage anynetwork topology and is not restricted to theuse of specific topologies such as rings, starsor trees, and therefore the configuration of thenetwork can be most suitable for therequirements of companies.

NRTR equipment also supports a proprietaryoperating mode (TRAME).

The routing procedure used by the NRTRadapts automatically to changing topologicalconditions. In the case of a link failure, thenetwork can automatically re-route the data.

The NRTR has different interfaces that allowslinks of different types and speeds, both analogand digital, to be integrated into a singlenetwork.

In both operating modes, the NRTR is capableto accept clients for many standard and legacytelecontrol protocols, such as: IEC 870-5-101,IEC 870-5-104, DNP 3.0, Vancomm, Mobdus, and Optomux. A built-in 104-101 Gatewayenables the NMS (Network ManagementSystem) to manage a RTU based on 101protocol as it was a RTU running 104 protocol.

    NRTR

Real time router especially suited for telecontroltransport services

In order to fulfil security and reliabilityrequirements, our proprietary link protocols, inaddition to those already present in standardrouters, are specially developed to be deployedover owned or hired transport resources, including analog communication channels, andacross existing network structures usingPDH/SDH or LAN.

The NRTR equipment has the standard routingprotocols (OSPF, RIP), as well as a proprietaryrouting protocol to support highly meshednetworks, multipath and load balance.

In propietary operating mode, data managementis carried out in accordance with the priority

assigned to them by the user. The differentequipment organise queues of packetsaccording to priority, which ensures that packetsof greater priority suffer less delay.

    TPU-1

Highly flexible and configurable forapplication diversity

The modular design of TPU-1 terminals allowsthe use of different types of modules accordingto teleprotection needs of each application.

This modularity allows TPU-1 terminals tomanage one or two digital and/or analogchannels. In cases where the TPU-1 terminalmanages two channels, it can be configuredto operate as two independent teleprotectionterminals (in a single shelf) or one teleprotectionwith main and back-up channels.

TPU-1 terminals operating in analog channelscan transmit and receive up to fourteleprotection commands. TPU-1 terminalsconfigured to operate in digital channels (withelectrical or optical interface) enable two-way

transmission of up to eight teleprotectioncommands. An input logic that allows thecommand transmission process to begin canbe established using an AND or ORcombination of up to sixteen inputs, and onthe other, establish the output logic for eachcommand received.

TPU-1 terminals are IEC 61850 compatibles,so communication between a TPU-1 and aprotection device inside a substation can becarried out according to this standard (GOOSEmessages). However, if a protection device isnot compatible with IEC 61850 standard, TPU-1 terminals can also communicate with it usinganalog protection interfaces (optoisolated inputs

    and solid-state relays).

One outstanding feature of the TPU-1 terminais that it can transit the received informationtowards another terminal being possible, forexample, connect various TPU-1 terminals ina ring configuration or in T (Teed-line).

The TPU-1 terminals, furthermore, include anSNMP agent able to send notifications(unsolicited information spontaneouslytransmitted) about alarms and events of theterminal to the devices specified by the user, and this makes it possible to monitor the TPU-1 terminal from an SNMP managementapplication, such as, HP Openview.
