Scope:

- support building of industrial relationships by gathering private and public institutions around services offered by EGNSS and related applications

- support the competitiveness of EU industry by identifying strategic partners and by developing market opportunities

- support to incentive schemes should foster the emergence of new downstream applications based on either Galileo and/or EGNOS and therefore to support the EU GNSS industry

Examples of projects

Jupiter• Creating EGNSS awareness within Intelligent

Transports Systems (ITS) industry• Specific support to SMEs operating in ITS,

including autonomous driving and connected cars

SME showcase at the ITS World Congress 2015• 20 SMEs and 5 public authorities involved• Training and demonstrations for +500 visitors • 320 Business to Business meetings, including

investors/business angels

Position• A two years project to release the GNSS market potential in Poland

supporting innovation and technology through incubation:• Supporting at least 10 promising projects/ start-ups utilising GNSS• Favouring the creation of a network of entities working on GNSS• Acting as a bridge between industry and governmental stakeholders

Financial support to 3rd parties in the form of PRIZES

(Article 15.2 of GA, Title VI Article 137 FR)

• Financial support in the form of a PRIZE awarded to a 3rd party (parties) following a contest organised by the beneficiary

• Only allowed if foreseen in the Call for proposals (conditions set out in the Call and Part K of the General Annexes to H2020 Work Programme)

Financial support to 3rd parties in the form of PRIZES

(Article 15.2 of GA, Title VI Article 137 FR)

• Proposals must clearly detail at least the following elements: Conditions for participation (e.g. eligibility and exclusion

criteria, submission deadline, etc.) Award criteria (criteria must be objective) Amount of the prize (XX EUR) Payment arrangements (usually one instalment)

Beneficiaries must provide PRIZES in accordance with these conditions (in Annex 1 – Technical Annex of the GA).

Financial support to 3rd parties in the form of PRIZES

(Article 15.2 of GA, Title VI Article 137 FR)

• Beneficiaries must ensure that their obligations laid down in the GA also apply to the third parties receiving a prize:

- Absence of conflict of interest - Confidentiality- Visibility of EU funding- Liability of damages- Right for EU bodies to carry reviews, checks / audits and

evaluate impact, etc.

Involvement of PhD Students in H2020 projects

Several options to involve PhD students in an H2020 project: – Staff of Beneficiary working on project:

• Reimbursement of personnel costs• Reimbursement of academic fees

– Financial support to natural persons (3rd party)• financial donations in form of allowances, scholarship

contribution, fellowship

PhD Students = Staff of BeneficiaryReimbursement of personnel costs

(Article 6.1 of GA)

Personnel costs of PhD students are eligible if they fulfil the cost

eligibility conditions (Article 6.1 of the GA).

In this context, following costs are also eligible:

– Fellowships

– Scholarship

– Stipends

PhD Students = Staff of BeneficiaryReimbursement of academic fees

(Article 6.1 of GA)

Academic fees: - if a student works for a university and is exempt

from paying (part of) the academic fees, - those fees (or part of them) are eligible as a

personnel cost if the student’s contract includes amount of waived fees as part of his/her remuneration.

Other conditions set out in Article 6 have to be fulfilled

Involvement of PhD Students Financial support to 3rd party (Article 15.1 of GA)

• Financial support may be given to PhD students as natural persons via a financial donation (e.g. allowance, scholarship, fellowship)

• Only allowed if foreseen in the Call for proposals• Beneficiaries must provide support in accordance

with the conditions specified in the Proposal (future Annex 1 – Technical Annex of the GA).

Involvement of PhD Students Financial support to 3rd party (Article 15.1 of GA)

Minimum conditions must include:• Maximum amount of financial support for each third party -

maximum amount may not exceed EUR 60 000 for each 3rd party.• Criteria for calculating /determining the exact amount of the

financial support (e.g. EUR 30 000 per student for a two-year scholarship)

• Types of activities that qualify for financial support on the basis of a closed list.

• Persons / categories of persons that may receive financial support (e.g. type PhD students)

• Criteria for giving / awarding financial support (e.g. publications)
