ALEXANDRE BOUR

Born in 1975 in Paris, lives and works in Paris and Nancy. Graduated in 2011 from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture, in Nancy.

Alexandre Bour creates some wire silhouettes of active characters in a three-dimensional look.A lighting set, a play with shadows, a work on the light and the construction of the space reveals a complex work. For Alexandre Bour « The projected shadow represents in a way a reduction of the sculptural object, and quickly forms some penciled sketches on the wall, in which media, shapes and materials merge to affirm the symbolic and dreamlike aspect of the sculpture. Their highlighting is their tale setting. »

« The death of a space.I grew up in an environment where the architectural landscape was hybrid.I had to leave it for a few years to finally realize it.These dying spaces are simply abandoned, squatted, rehabilitated, questioned and then destroyed to make way for new architectures. In this specific atmosphere I achieved building myself, in areas constantly being challenged. » J. Since 2012, Laure Rafélis de Broves paints artworks inspired «by the voyeurism, reality television shows and the lifestyle of the American West Coast ». She uses satellite views to create a virtual journey going through these improbable urban landscapes. Her series The Angel’s Share (2014-2015) presents some « luxurious villas and aberrant structures », some « artificial oasis, made of villas and swimming pools in the middle of the desert. » These layouts « of abstract shapes yet comprehensive give free rein to the mental projections and fantasies of the spectator. »

The Catherine Houard Gallery located in the heart of the historic Saint-Germain-des-Prés strives to be resolutely multidisciplinary.

The gallery presents renowned artists from different universes and artistic movements, whether contemporary or modern, with work either devoted to painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography or everything at once ...!

The gallery is also interested in the personal work of personalities from the world of fashion, Sonia Rykiel and her drawings, from the Cinema, Dean Tavoularis or Ettore Scola, from the theatre and the medias, Jerome Revon, Jean Feldman ... It seeks to build bridges between different genres.

The gallery program is completed with exhibitions of major artists, George Condo «Le Sourire de Condo», Enoc Perez «Portraits d’Architecture», Don Nice «Pop Paradise» and in October 2015 the wonderful ceramics of the Artigas Foundation «Grands Feux» where have been collected and presented for the first time artworks of Braque, Chillida, Flannagan, Miro, Tapies ...

Catherine Houard, after the tribute to Piero Crommelynck (1934 - 2001) in 2012 with the exhibition « De Picasso à Alechinsky... », pursues her desire to present copper engraving, appreciated and recognized for its nobility, its rarity and the richnessof techniques it offers to the artist. This technique, already used since 1446 by Old Masters such as Dürer, Rubens, Rembrandt, Goya ..., is still used by the greatest artists of the lastfifty years, including Picasso, Braque, Miró, Giacometti, Matisse, Le Corbusier, Alberola, Alechinsky, Jim Dine, Richard Hamilton, Jasper Johns, Alex Katz, Sam Szafran ...
