There Are Many Different Types Of Galaxies
![Page 3: Galaxies](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022070315/55509d30b4c90590208b49e0/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Many Different Shapes and Sizes…

Irregular
![Page 5: Galaxies](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022070315/55509d30b4c90590208b49e0/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Irregular
• They are basically all the left overs of galaxies• You will have some substantial quantities in
some Irregular galaxies.

Elliptical
![Page 7: Galaxies](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022070315/55509d30b4c90590208b49e0/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Elliptical
• Ellipticals have low to zero rotation rates • The stars in Ellipticals have a wide variety of
orbits • Ellipticals are kind of like bulge with no disk.• The can go from spherical shaped to
elongated shaped to football like shaped.

Spirals
![Page 9: Galaxies](https://reader036.vdocuments.us/reader036/viewer/2022070315/55509d30b4c90590208b49e0/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Spiral
• Spirals have relatively high rotation rates.• The stars have orbits that lie in the plane of
the disk.• The Milky Way is a Spiral Galaxy.• The earth is located in the Milky Way.
